*sigh* I tire of the usual Sega fan generalizations about the SNES sounding too muffled and the SNES only being good at softer music. As someone who grew up with both the SNES and Genesis, I prefer the fuller sound of the SNES SF2. I'd rather judge the music on its own merits than on how closely it replicates the arcade version. People like Ken on the SNES because it has a rock' n quality. Not the arcade style, but it works. Same for Guile getting more orchestral boom on the SNES.

@megavolt67 Oh, and Blanka does sound so pretty on the SNES (matches the locale nicely), I think. I don't know if that makes it "superior" or "inferior" to other versions, but regardless of how close it is or isn't to the arcade, it's definitely GOOD.

People who go on and on about arcade closeness must be the same kind of people who will rip on an acclaimed book-based movie as not being good simply because it isn't 100% accurate to the source material. I can't do that.

There's a haunting quality to Ken's theme in the Genesis version. I've never really cared for the SNES version though. It just sounds off. CPS1 is fine, but I actually preferred the CPS2 remix a lot more.

Guile's theme on the SNES sounds good though, but it sounds good on the other two as well. I guess this is a theme that's hard to mess up.

@str8duval Yes the MegaDrive music def sounds more like the Arcade, and I grew up with all of them. Although the SNES version has better quality samples, it doesn't sound like the arcade. Although it does have some very good versions of the songs too, like Guile's.

CPS-1 always and forever. I never really liked how they used the Mega Man X sound set for SNES. Sega's FM synth is close to the arcade, but still doesn't quite cut it. Nothing matches the power of CPS-1's percussion.

I perfer SNES and I'm not being one sided here I was brought up with the SNES one. The MD version is okay but still I perfer SNES. There's no need to fight over which version is better MD and SNES where both great consoles but get over it the battle ended years ago. Both versions are good but it really depends which version you where brought up with. :D Dont fight guys just enjoy epic music from an epic game

tbh i think alot of ppl grew up with the snes version of sf and not the genesis. Hence the huge biasness towards the genesis music, even though the genesis (despite its lackluster sound chip) had closer to arcade music/sound fx.

I always commend the SNES for having incredibly clear and high-quality instrument samples, but beyond that, it just sounds like a choppy, incoherent mess. I also question Capcom's jazzing-up of the themes, similar to what they did in Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 as a follow up to its predecessors kick-ass tunes. It's just not appropriate for a fighting game. The Genesis version sounds passionate and powerful despite its graininess, like a true scaled-down version of the arcade.
