Bruce has done well for Runrig. Donnie has moved on and will always be very special. The band is still going and that is all that matters. Scotland-Nova Scotia....one people, one heart, our beautiful mother..Scotland. In the years to come Scotland will need all her sons and daughters wether they be Scots Canadians, Scots Americans or wherever they hail from. Runrig will go on and so will our beloved Scotland.
Nova Scotia is New Scotland because it was named so by Scots who came here so long ago. The land in Cape Breton ( where Bruce is from) looks just like Scotland so I guess that's why they named it so. The old language and music still thrives and there is a Gallic college that teaches the language, the bagpipes and fiddle etc. You can buy nearly every tartan in their shop and they make kilts to order. So Scotland is very much alive in the people of Nova Scotia.
@jillipepper5353 Well said ,i am from Strathpeffer,Ross-Shire,Scotland but have emigrated to Alberta. What i read and know about the maritimes is that the culture that crossed the ocean is equal or arguably stronger than that of Bonnie Scotlands,Bruce was what kept Runrig going ,another wise decision in this truly great gaelic rock band
I'm gonna go one better than you, sweetheart. . . .I'm gonna have this song played at my funeral !! LOL . It's my favourite song ever. . .played by my favourite band ever. . . .last laugh will be by me. . . hope the priest doesn't mind ha ha :)
Just a funny coincedence or? Bruce Guthro is from Nova Scotia in Canada - New Scotland...Have only seen Runrig live since Bruce joined, and I think he is great - and also an amazing solo-artist...
i do too its the main song im a fan of them really, on the first concert i ever saw of them the xmas tour in 99 at york barbican, maymorning was their first full song they played after the intro song in search of angels was blown away by bruce though, i think hes ace!!
its such a shame that Malcs unwell though at the moment, I'm a mega fan of Malc, hes just nothing short of amazing, I mean hes just the kind of guy I think that waits every time for his moment to shine if ya hear when bruce says hail it up for Malcolm Jones (or words to that effect) the fans scream for him thats a testiment to the man himself and me being a guitarist,. hes the reason I think I want to be like him hes ace!! Hope he gets well soon!!
Amen to that - he's one of the guitarists who's work inspired me to take it up, and I was shocked when I heard about his collapse, but from what I hear he's on the mend so all the best MJ! Possibly the most criminally unknown guitarists to have ever lived.
You're entitled to your opinion of Bruce but it's not like Donnie was sacked. He left, voluntarily, and he's not coming back. If Bruce hadn't joined, the band probably wouldn't exist at all now.
Well said!!! Donnie was. . . . what Donnie was!!!! I absolutely love Bruce, he has brought a new dimension to the band. . .and I absolutely love him as a solo artist. So long live the worlds best band. . .who have the greatest fans in the world x xxx x x Long live RUNRIG !!!! :)
@santiano42 - I couldn't agree with you more! I love all the various incarnations of Runrig, & I've been a huge fan of theirs right from the start. They've had two incredible lead singers in their many decades of playing fantastic music. What more can anyone want? I agree with you: RUNRIG GU BRATH!!!!

Just can't take this band seriously anymore. Bruce's accent really palls - a bit like Kevin Costner's in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, a yank in Sherwood.
I'll be honest and say when DonnieMonroe left,I lost Interested and I was determined never to listen to anything new by RunRig until this userper "BruceGuthro"(Who?),and a Canadian FFS,now that's having a laugh isn't it?? had left!BOY...what a mistake I made!Just started listening to the new stuff, sure it's not the same as the older stuff (which I will always love and enjoy), it's different...and I love it!! Bravo RunRig...and BRAVO Bruce Guthro!!...and I sincerely apologise!
Me too! I hope they are as good as they seem, 'cause I'll make quite a trip from Eastern Europe just to see them! Love their music! My favorite band in the world!

@santiano42 Very well said, I actually think for the energy Bruce is better in that sense but the vocal range Donnie is greater.
