You don't need a car in LA anymore. Where is the Amtrak station? Do you think the road lobby is going to let you do this? They can't even get a trolley line going in New York City!! You need on line things and business centers. Please ride the Minneapolis light rail, very successful. GM worked very hard to get rid of the trains in Flint and other cities. Interesting idea. But some of those lines are still active. I would imagine there would have to be a second set of tracks.
The line that runs from Dort Highway Northeast towards Genesee used to run all the way to Fostoria. The tracks are long gone, but part of it is the Huckleberry Railroad.
And the system should head to Mt. Morris, Clio, and Birch Run. There used to be a trolly line that ran along that main line.
flint Amtrak Auburn hill, Ann Arbor also to Troy, mich someday. hopefully in future.

I've lived in Portland, Oregon before but my hometown is Flint. Portland is a WAY bigger city than Flint. #imjustsaying
