The point of their music was to bring rock and roll back to the simplicity it began with. Their music is mostly late 50's, early 60's rock, but sped up and with distorted guitars.

Seriously, play Buddy Holly's "Peggy Sue". Then, crank up the distortion, play power chords instead of 1st position chords, and play really fast. You just ramonified a Buddy Holly song.

If Johnny hadn't stolen Joey's girlfriend and acted like a Fuhrer of the 5th Reich: he insisted on being the "inside manager" bossing the others around in a nasty way - there wouldn't have been so much bad blood. Tommy was already gone by '78 I think , due to Ramones' dysfunctionality & disrespect. Dee Dee eventually quit a couple of times. Joey hated Johnny for decades,but oddly they stuck it out. The Ramones were/are one of the greatest bands ever, and go unmentioned in favor of lesser bands such as the Clash and the Sex Pistols far too often.
