Cartoons used to be great,UNlike the cartoons today...just look at,for example, the cartoon network and its NEW sh%tty cartoons, and all the other weak excuses for cartoons that polute the world today...
@zjovanovic10 I'm going to disagree with you on that one. I believe that cartoons are better than ever now. sure some of them suck, but thats bc its so over-saturated. they have 150 kids channels that they need to fill up 24 hours, so they add some crap tv.
with the exclusion of garfield and a few others. i think 80s cartoons are absolute trash. they were nothing more than crappy, mass produced scripts, with simple boring stories. and it was all just a big advertisment to sell toys to children.
@Seston Cartoons today suck, and as for all the channels, there are hundreds or thousands of cartoons from the 30s to the 90s they could put on, but they don't.
And how is that different from the 80's? Now kids only have from wannabe-anime to those lame live-action shows like iCarly, Victorious and whatever bilge Nick and the several Disney channels are spewing out now. 80's cartoons might have been insipid fluff but they didn't promote bad attitudes and young girls in skanky clothes.
@xeiroe Well I was talking about animation not live action. And I think spongebob and ed n eddy are great shows. But (for live action) I think that they are promoting feminism, and female enpowerment. and the kid shows now are at least interesting. Not like SBTB. regardless, I don't recall any of the girls dressing slutty on the shows. In fact, the shows are very clean. Yes, Miley or Selena may dress slutty in thier personal lives, or on the stage. But never as the character.
But the shows that you say are promoting feminism and female empowerment...all the female characters all act like terrible stereotypes. Strong female types are promoted to act like "Divas"(how I HATE that word) and are encouraged to treat those around them as horrid s possible.
@Seston Feminism was all about women taking power to be treated equal to men, not to be treated like superior beings, not to treat others as inferiors...but to be equals. Modern women/feminists seem to have forgotten that.
@zjovanovic10 I know what you mean, when we were kids, CN was a NEW thing, and it had great stuff, Dr. Seuss' cartoons, Garfield, The Tex Avery Show, the Chuck Jones show, cartoon movies every Saturday night and rerun Sunday morning, Batman: the Animated Series, about 10 kinds of Scooby Doo, the Jetsons, the Flintstones, Richie Rich, Jabber Jaws, Hong Kong Phooey, Beetlejuice, The Addams family, good stuff. Not like now.
