New channel = less flexibility. I like some of it such as large icons, But what's up with the channel icon? A filmstrip of indistinguishable videos? Really crap. I'd like to be able to arrange my channel into sub folders that are related and easy to find, not just large thumbnails which have no way to arrange them. First they bait you into this, then when the hook is in, watch out. Can't wait for the full commercialization of YouTube - coming soon I'm sure.

Yeah, it's a lot cleaner. But it's cleaner in the sense of throwing away all that stuff that made my life me. I will miss the ability to mess with my channel, and personalize it a bit more. *sigh* Things like "themes and colors" I loved that! It's a shame people never took more advantage of that... I'm just sad we won't have the option in the future. I like the set-up overall, but I maily just want to make the giant grey box transparent.

I HATE the new channel design. I like to have my little bit of individuality in putting together my site. They have taken that away and told me how its going to be with a few set layouts that are really poor. Lets see how they respond the the outcry, and see if they really care. If they don't, lets hope it burns their fingers badly. All site have there day....the challage is now on for a new player in the market where individuality counts and the views of the user matters. Goodbye YOUTUBE!

You're just selling it because you are a YouTube partner! The new downgraded design sucks & you know it.With the old layout -Everything that the channel user wants displayed is all there on one page! With this new layout everything is always "Just a click or two away."When checking out a new channel, people aren't gonna spend time doing that & UTube knows that! As for customizing-- Channels users have lost their distinctiveness that put the You in the Tube. Now we're all just in a grey box !

And besides, YouTube moved the official switchover date from March first to the seventh, so we get an extra week. But it's only Janurary still, so YouTube might just make it so that the new channel is optional.

All I have in my Edit Background is Choose Image,Remove, No Repeat,Repeat Horizontally, Repeat Vertically,Repeat Horizontally and Vertically, I have to make my BG pic very small and repeat horizontally and vertically in order for it to be seen. The other layout had preferences you could change on your channel.

@MsCreativeSparks26 You go to the top of your Youtube, not necessarily your channel, and click on your name. A drop down menu will show up, one of the options being "Inbox". Just click on that and go to your Inbox, then clicking on Compose in the left corner. Hope that helps.

@ClaudiaNihon Thanks, I found everything, but obviously Google/YT wants to do away with the social feel of the channels in order to concentrate on promoting videos and Google+. In doing so, they took away the social modules and made the channels less attractive. People's creative background designs no longer stand out. This wasn't necessary imo, as we are all still all here to watch and/or create vids. At least I am.

I'd have a hard time believing anyone wants their channel to look just like everyone else's channel. It's called YOUtube, not Googletube. OK, So I see the 3 tabs: "Video", "Featured","Feed". And the "Feed" is to display all your activity to visitors I guess. What if you don't want to display your channels activity? How to you turn off the "Feed" tab. For some channels, that isn't something they want to display and when I tried the new layout, I couldn't figure out how to turn it off (if possible). It seems to me that certain control flexibility is taken away from the channel that would matter to the channel holder????
