They used to be when the Blues and Hawks both had good squads in the early - mid 90's. Hawks went into decline thereafter have only just surfaced again in the last 3 years. The Blues are in a rebuilding phase at the moment and cannot compete with the NHL elite.
The Hawks main rivals these days are Detroit (as always) and most recently the Canucks. Hawks + Blues still play in the same division together but the rivalry is nowhere near as intense as it was back in the day..
