this is the way the Beatles sounds right to me. i had all their mono albums, cuz i had the one speaker mono record player when these albums came out. :)
the stereo remaster of REVOLVER is exccellent, with a couple of exceptions: She Said She Said sounds flat and AM-radio-ish...the mono version is a vast improvement.
When I was a kid, I had a record player with one speaker (old time). I think that they sound just as good, if not better. Thank you for posting Padfoot.
The stereo versions sound louder and more in your face, but there is a lack of headroom on the stereo version. They've used compression which takes away from airy quality that you find on the mono and the original vinyl versions. Everything is louder, maybe too loud. I will stick with the new remastered mono versions. They sound great. With the Mono version you can really feel the power that The Beatles pumped out. "BACK TO MONO" John Lennon. Thanks for the great posts Padfoot333.
when you take acid look at this album cover and play the album.
I thought the album cover was singing to me. :p

And Your Bird Can Sing is much better in mono because the lead guitar riffs are much more up front.

She said she said - all britpop rolled into 3 minutes. Way ahead of time!

Well, records, sure. The CDs, no. :-)

I'm sure in a few years Apple will sell the mono versions individually. They are out to make money like any other company.
I know I'd buy few cds -- I'm just not interested in the whole set.
Yep147 2 years ago
i hope they do, even if i could spare the money i won't buy the whole remasters set for 3 or 4 CDs.
