  • WOW this just sucker-punched my soul. Incredible.

  • Dissonance, not distance.

  • lol wat

  • i like the spoken word with the beat... the beat actually matches it...

  • You just got served, biotch

  • For the record, that beat is terrible. You ppl are idiots. It's meant to be acapella. If you actually listen to the lyrics - you would realize he's talking about a beat. The beauty marks are referring to the notes, humming the nudity refers to humming the tune without snares or bass, "mental images of your fine tune" is pretty obvious as well. Sick fuckin' lyrics - amazing poet - deserves way more credit. Long live hip-hop.

  • this is excellent!

  • wow nice job.

This actually reminds me of Saul Williams a lot

Those who are dissing need to re-skin their ear drums!

  • this shit just blew my fucking mind

  • Gave me the chills

  • thy needa use this to teach us poetry in school not the stupid shit tht thy use now

  • the word "distance" is actually "dissonance in my seldom plucked heart strings"

  • @wisdomofaclown I was just about to tell that to him too. xD

  • to fuhkinn Good.!

  • People dissing the beat are harsh, they probably just don't like techno. Personally, I think the beat rocks. Nice one. The Sage spoken word is also sick as a parrot. However, the two together don't work. Shame.

  • @tomthebadger

Fair reply this... it's personal.. you like it or you don't... you don't and that's your good right of course... I liked it and that;s why I did it.. :)

  • @lowbudgetkiller Personally, I loved it. It sets a mood for it.

  • @tomthebadger

I'm not a fan of techno but thats not why i dont care for this i think the words are enough to get the point. its just better acapella

  • @tomthebadger What does the beat have to do with techno? It's a house beat.

  • @tomthebadger im not a big fan of this beat. but the instruments are real so i can respect it. You can make all these sounds without a computer so its respectable.

  • @tomthebadger You think this is techno? this is a kick, snare, one synth, and horrible singing/rap. This "song" is a flaming piece of garbage.

  • da beats alright but da lyrics is wassup

  • love the beat you added to the poem. fucking sick.

  • The beat completely ruins this.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

  • I don't really like the background song but ah well, sage kills it!

  • Can you guys tell me more song that are like this and mermaid are sea sluts, that are from sage of course. If you know where i can get it as well let me know

  • @MrClipston yea man the wordplay at the end is great.

  • people are already there, with tent cities makin a name for themselves livin a life without corporate welfare

  • the beat makes it good but its just not the same as his other songs you took away the emotion

  • Sage Francis = step 1 in awakening. Detaching from control grid in a comfortable way. Ready to leap over the fence.

  • what yall talking about, this is sick and i like the beat with it.

  • hopeless hopelessness holding this openess to blow a kiss so close ur lips but dont get pissed and throw a fist at this vocalist im not emotionless in fact i broke my wrist when i wrote the list of all those i missed.. crazy lines
  • i think this is sage and buddy wakefield.

  • Comment removed

  • fucking destroyed the song with that beat. way to take away it's raw emotion

  • Comment removed

  • well this is annoying. Who the fuck put this weird ass beat in this? There's a reason he made this without the beat

  • i didn't kno dave attel did club music...

  • thats not dave attel, thats sage francis, i could see how you mixed them up tho

  • I can't stand the backing track that lowbudgetkiller added to this. It ruins it for me. Acapella is awesome, but not with the dodgy beat in it

  • yeah good call

  • Greatest love song ever!

  • I don't hear this track earlier. From which album is it?

  • personal journals

  • i think there is a difference between MC and artists. artists show their music in the form of poetry and fine literature while MC show flow and witty lyrics. this is some fine literature as well is Kristoff Krane who is another incredible artist.

  • who cares about the beat HIS WORDS ARE AMAZING!

  • the beat doesnt match the lyrics "/

  • definitely did good on the beat.

i don't think it takes away from the poem at all,

    man. i think it's awesome.

  • im wit this guy

    this song is jusg great

beat is great, who did this?

  • I'm not a guy, xD

    But thanks for agreeing.

  • lol

  • sorry. I'm all about mixes, but this just can't compare to the original. Sage tears it up with emotion. No additions needed.

  • i want your version on my ipod. how...

  • an this was unbelieveable i had to add this as my favorite! right at 1:09!

  • it is a nice beat, i will say that. but really it takes away the power and feeling of the poem. if he was goin to put beats to his sheet he would have.. it takes away the attention from the words. leave the feeling, write your own words.

  • This is awesome and it works - well done on the re-mix I would like to hear the whole track. It builds very well and doesn't interrupt the rap over the top. I especially like the way you have taken care to alter elements of the beat in every loop. A sign of careful composition which has not gone unnoticed.

  • hmm i like the beat =)

  • That beat is retarded. Upload the original.

  • LMAO yes, please change it..Its like some southern american meets euro trash club mix.. this should never get mixed with Sage.. Bad move with showing off your skills buddy.

  • 0:43 is "dissonace" not "distance"

  • he IS a poet just like sole. some really good music

  • he's really a poet

  • hes like a poet not a rapper.

  • poetry is hip-hop is poetry is hip-hop is poetry is hip-hop is poetry is hip-hop is poetry is hip-hop is poetry is hip-hop is poetry is hip-hop is poetry is hip-hop is...

"hip is knowledge and hop is the movement" KRS1

  • rap = business

    hip-hop= music / poetry

  • Rap is something you do, hip-hop is something you live.

  • just so you know, its not distance in my seldom plucked heart strings , its Dissonance- an unstable tone conmbination

  • Thank you! All the lyric sites say distance, but it's clearly dissonance.

  • PPL are dumb thats y...if u look in the album cover its there.

  • I don't really like the beat that someone put into this. I don't believe that the original track has that beat. It kinda overpowers the words.

  • Rawist shit ever.

    Sage kills.

XVX for life, R.A.S.H. 'til death.

  • I fucking like it with that background! Nice work!

Anyway to upload the song... I want it in my car.

  • can anyone tell me what the lyrics means? i would love to find out

  • Don't be a coward. Feel the words out. Maybe a bit scary for some of us. :)

However, I donno if you'll get it if you haven't been there. :/

  • work it out thats the beauty of life

  • Well done!

  • damn :| 5 stars!

  • I think the beat is dope with the lyrics.

  • This would be a sick Typography...

  • dope

  • techno works well here idk wtf is all u guys s problem w techno sage dominates no matter what!!!

  • I could make a sick track with this vocal !

the techno beat was kinda good actually, need some percussion just.

  • Beautiful<3

  • Change your name to goodspokenwordkiller

  • Now there's an idea...but no thanks..Ilike it the way it is now..whats the problem with ppl not being open minded to other ppl...maybe those ppl should listen a little better to what Mr francis has too say.

  • @lowbudgetkiller word to that.

  • yeah, the techno beat kinda killed it.

  • This is cool and all but does anyone know where I can find the original version to this song?

  • it's on the 'personal journals' cd. it's just him in a spoken word in the first 1:30 of the song. borders might have it or something. you can try there!

    good luck!

  • it is off his personal journals cd try his website. he sells his cds there.

  • good song but didnt really like the techno beat. Also did you make this with vegas because the effect look familiar

  • Yeah..it's Vegas...one of my first experiments with it too (as you obvious can see :D)

Got a little further with the video editing but time is a god's gift and I am an atheist :P

  • also if oyu made this did you do this using vegas because these effects look familiar

  • great song but could of done with out the added beat

  • awesomeness. Gave me chills with that music in the background.

What is the name of the song?

  • Stephan Bodzin - Daytona Beach

    album: Electro House vol II

  • This isnt techno by the way, its Minimal House.

  • I'm very impressed with Sage Francis. Like the clean beats contrasted with the acute poetry and love fuelled lyrics. :)

  • the version iv got is live, flows better and doesnt have the lame music in the background

  • yer, right. I don't like about 99 % of techno but that beat is kinda growing on me.

  • lame techno beat; he says "dissonance in my seldom plucked heart strings"

  • thanks for the remark...and lame techno beat..well, taht's just a matter of taste I guess...I found it a nice groove to put it on, so...

  • nice shizzle m8

    restecp

    Nice groove. nice words
