  • Love the Beaver but hate the paint job.

  • can the Beaver fly with 11 passengers and a shit load of cargo at the same time??? NO.

  • Wips bird is a beast!

  • It's tough to beat the Turbo Beaver wheel/skis of floats, The Cessna 206 is a great wheel plane but a very poor performer on floats with the 300 h.p. engine and 4 hours fuel load. I'm Looking foreword to my next flight on the Turbo Beaver.

  • The main difference is payload. The 206 is at gross weight, and the Beaver has only a light weight pilot on board.

The 206 is still great for landing at 99.99% of all seaports because 70% of this planet is covered with water. In fact, I've never seen a short water runway before.

  • Thrust to weight ratio even though the beaver is bigger the thrust ratio is greater then the 206 it also has a greater wing surface area then the 206 of course it going to beat its an unmatched performance

  • Love the Boss Beav when it goes into reverse thrust. Stops on a dime!

  • What an awful paint job. Sweet plane though

  • The 206 is a nice plane, not neccesarily made to excel in the water, where as the beaver is far more specialized so this is an unfair comparison, like comparing a honda fit and a lambo gallardo

  • Great for us new aviators that don't know that much about differance bettween each plane! Thanks for sharing! H P is always a factor ! Agrees

  • 1955 Beaver right?

  • Meh, a Piper Aztruck on floats will outperform the Beaver!! :-P

  • Very fun plane the Beaver. Got a ride in this plane over the weekend. Checkout jamesfromny videos.

  • You crazy buggers! A drag-race between sea-planes??? Overhere, we would get buried in red-tape SO deep it'd make ya cry for ya momma.. :P

  • like comparing apples to golf balls

  • Dehavilland Kicks ass!

  • or just get a c208 anfib. 10 squillion times better than a turbine beaver on floats.

  • As Leslie Nielson aka Frank Dremmond from Naked Gun says, "Nice Beaver!"

  • As Leslie Nielson aka Frank Dremmond from Naked Gun says, "Nice Beaver!"

  • i am SO not suprised that a turbine beaver can perform like that lol.

  • Good comparison or not, I would give one fully functional testicle to have that Beaver.

  • Canadian made beaver FOREVER

  • It's funny that some of you guys mentioned the flag deal, I used to work for wip and moved this plane all the time, it's got the american flag on one side and canadian flag on the other. We called her kinky lucy haha

  • Nicely done.

  • AMERICA!!!!!

  • I LOVE BEAVER!!!!

  • Cool vid. Nice paint scheme on the Beaver.

  • No surprise here.

Ocourse the beaver's gonna win, it's an actual sea plane.

The Cessna is just a land plane with floats.

  • Lets see, Cessna 206 Turbo with floats, 700K, 310 horspower.

Turbine Beaver with floats, 1.5 Million, 750 horsepower.

A fair comparison? No. I mean why not badmouth a Honda Accord because it can't beat a ferrari off the line or put a Ford Taurus up against a Superduty with both towing fifth wheels and then badmouth the taurus.

    Guffaw!

  • @flanksteak1 people dont care. they're like "ya so what i dont care, the 206 is better."

so they made this vid to shush them up.

  • @flanksteak1 doesnt really matter because no cessna will ever compete fairly with a DH.. DH is hands down the best:D

  • @flanksteak1

Well the dH Beaver was designed to be a STOL/float airplane first and foremost.

The C206 wasn't. It was first designed as a derivative of the retractable (does that say anything?) 210. Which makes a docile, somewhat efficient aircraft.

The C206 is stupidly underpowered for good float performance. On wheels though, there arn't very many planes that can take the useful load of a 206 at the same cruising speed).

A better comparison would be with a turbo maule.

  • @flanksteak1

Who's badmouthing? You sound like a Cessna owner LOL! Just having some fun! I just flew in this plane over the weekend and there is nothing like it!

  • @flanksteak1 whats the spec on these engines, i thought the Cessna had a PWC PT6? whats the beaver got?

  • A better comparison would have been with a Cessna 206 Turbine.

  • It's not like the Cessna 206 is a 46 year old planform or anything...

Hey, Slap a turbine on that pig! Nobody will notice that we have not designed a new mainstream (not jet) aircraft in decades! We've got em all fooled!

  • c-206 is a big fat porker on floats

  • bad comparison, the C-206 on floats is a big fat heavy hog

  • Beaver is a chunky ugly thing.

  • It would be interesting to see how the performance of the turbo beaver is compared to a piston beaver... the piston beavers take off performance sucks.

  • I think the turbine option is somewhere between half a million and a million dollars, just for the motor....

  • WTH? That's like comparing a car racing a person walking. Turbo vs Turbine? Piston vs a jet engine with a prop? yeah that's an equal comparison.

  • The Beaver owns!!!

Canadians make the best bush flying planes and private jets.

    Anyway, nice vid!

  • 10 seconds from power to lift off.. that's what im talking about!

  • Great performance of the Boss Beaver!! If I would have enough money I'd get one. Maybe one day.

    Currently studying for ATPL

  • Good Luck! Someday I hope to be getting one of those ;)

  • stars and bars on such an iconic CANADIAN aircraft? Maybe we should paint a Maple Leaf on the space shuttle!

  • Who cares, they can paint it however they want if they're paying for it.

  • i would much rather here the sound of the engine than the lame music.

  • What a HORRIBLE paint scheme on that Beaver!!

Painting a Yank flag on a Canadian aircraft couldn't be more of a disgrace.

  • yeah just like west jet the CANADIAN airline uses a BOEING 737 which is an American plane.....such Ignorance...It's an airplane that has a paint scheme.....I'm sure Canadian "military" aircraft arent all made in Canada are they? American planes have American flags, Canadian planes have Canadian flags regardless of where they were built....Damn Canadians and their "proudly Canadian" on everything they create from cheese to airplanes pride.

  • @bmstyle you have issues. What is wrong with someone having a little pride these days?

  • If you wanted a real comparison, you'd've used a Soloy 206 and a regular Cessna 206. Even a P&W Beaver would've beat the 206 off the lake. I know what Beavers can do, having seen KAH's Beavers go all day long, piston or turbine. What next: A Corvette vs. a Corolla? Next time, be realistic.

    And the music sucked.

  • What makes it possible for a Cessna to leave the ground? ... THE CURVATURE OF THE EARTH!

Still the better looking of the two :p

  • LOL... curvature of the earth! I like that! ... hard to beat turbine power and flexibility, but that 206 is a nice looking aircraft, and pretty darn capable for the money. I fancy the Caravan.. anyone have several million dollars lying around the house that I could have? ;)

  • LoL! good one.

one of my dads customers used to bug me to come give him a push down the runway so he could make it out in his ol' cherokee.

  • @netscion you don't know what you're talking about. The 206 is a fine bush plane.

  • @gregcaesar the beaver is a far better bush plane always was always will be

  • @netscion

If the earth was an infinitely long and wide flat surface with the same gravitational field both planes would become airborne the exact same way. the curvatureof the Earth has nothing to do with it. In fact the curvature in th very short distance of this take-off approaches zero (flat) as a limit.

  • @netscion That is a good one! LOL!

  • What is the HP difference a few facts please.

  • The Cessna 206 Turbo has 310 HP. Not sure about the Beaver though.

  • about 3 times that.

  • It looks like a PT-6, they can produce from about 600 to 1600 HP, but i think turbo Beavers got about 700 HP, a lot more than 206 ! hehe

  • The C-206T is also a piston acft. The Beaver is powered by a PT6-A turboprop rated at about 2000 SHP. The Beaver in this video was also retrofited with a STOL conversion. This is, by far, not a fair comparison.

  • Life is not fair

  • The southern want-to-be against the local.

I always bet on the local.

  • lets test the performance of a piston airplane to that of a turbine engine, hmm try the beaver against a cessna caravan then it will be more even.2 turboprops would be even.

  • Those will be fun to fly.

  • COME ON GUYS!!! how can you compare a turbine beaver to a cessna 206 its impossible its like comparing an ultralight to a 206. put a turbine 206 with a turbine beaver THEN! shoe me the results.

  • That's the ugliest airplane i've ever seen in my life. Although a wicked Turbine Beaver, goddamn ugly.

  • I think its the shiznitobamsipsapsnak

  • Then you've never seen an Aeronca C-3 before.

  • amen love that radial engine sound compared to a turbo

  • .....there are no radial engines in this video...

  • Climbs like a homesick angel.

  • cessna still looks better

  • What kinda race is that? A turbine versus a piston driven plane? No wonder the beaver won. Still a cool video

  • awesome mate really great...creative and well done! great effort

  • Considering the DHC2 has twice the horsepower with the PT6, against the Lycoming Turbo Piston engine. Pretty Stupid comparison. Throw a Texas Turbine Conversion into the Cessna or use the Caravan, then we got a show!

  • post the vid without that asinine song...great otherwise :)

  • lol, yeah, at fist i thought they were being sarcastic by putting in that choice of song.

  • What does this prove? Yeah a 650HP turboprop plane designed for STOL can beat a 300HP piston plane designed for general purpose flying. It's like racing a Corvette against a Camry. How does it do against a Soloy 206 with a Robertson STOL?

  • Nice comparison, Good video.Turbo beaver is pretty slick!

Retarded song, this song is why people make fun of pilots...Later Ice

  • whats a music???

  • Conversion. What kinda engine/horsepower does it have?

  • The turbo Beaver conversion uses a Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A (not sure exacty which model) of around 500 to 600 shp. I may be wrong but I think the airframe of the beaver is limited to 600hp max. There may be a STC to boost the HP to a higher limit

  • Pooor little Cessna...Can't beat the little ol' Beaver.

  • lol this cessna is piston the other is turbo

  • That was pretty cool.

  • One ofthe best videos I've seen with real seaplanes!

    /Vince> 12000TT ATPL 52Types inc; DHC-2/3/6/8-100/300C-180/185/206

  • The Beaver is a bush plane and is known for it's STOL capabilities. wnted to build an r/c model of it a few years ago but the radial engine was pretty expensive so I sold the plans.
