I believe it is meant to allow one to understand every belief system. Only by understanding everyone's position on belief systems, can one make up their own mind, or decide what is right for them.
I also think that the more you know about someone, or something, the more you can understand it and not fear the unknown. A good idea, I think.
Atheism isnt a belief system. Its a lack of belief. Atheists define their world through what they can have proven to them through science. Atheists would believe... No, know that god existed if he'd just show up and reproduce his miracles (supposing it actually ever happened) and explain the inner workings of the divine. Now we all know that wont happen, he's conveniently hidden away somewhere, all in the name of maintaining the pecking order in the christian terrorism movement.
But can one say that Atheism, Agnosticism and Christianity are based on the same facts, or lack of. We cannot prove God does or does not exist. They take a stance, which we should all respect, and treat everyone equally and not as second class citizens.
It's the extremists, the creationists of the literalists that just annoy the hell out of me. It's as pointless as a square wheel.
NOVA - "Judgment Day: Intelligent Design on Trial" will premiere Tuesday, November 13 at 8PM ET/PT on most PBS stations. See video preview search the tittle on You Tube.
'Judgement Day' a very Islamo/Christian turn of Phrase. Sounds like the Voodoo will be treated as if it deserved to be treated with the same respect as Science?
Intelligent Design being intelligently discussed by intelligent comedians. "Intelligent Design" must be intelligent because the word intelligent is in the title.
Nobody is intelligent enough to understand intelligent design, who's gonna teach it - God?
exactly, if science presumed that god created the universe, scientists would be concerned with the physical means of creating the universe. Science can't be concerned with THAT he created the universe, but HOW. Creationists want us to stop studying HOW life was created and sit back and say THAT it was created
Thanks for posting... I was told about this from a friend who listens to the Now Show. I teach Religion, Science, Evolution and The Big Bang at A-level. I haven't been sent the controversial materials, but I do get sent materials by Pressure Groups all the time, e.g. materials on Animal Rights, Abortion, and other moral issues. It's quite hard to remain neutral, but my theory is to expose them to the arguments, making them aware of the possible bias in the material.
This is hilarious, thanks for putting that up.
