Okay, The chances are it's not going to work, but you could try jailbreaking it. It may work because my friend jailbroke his 32GB 3G iPod touch successfully, but on the 8GB 3G iPod touch it failed. So you could try, but if it fails you'll need to restore in itunes.

Yes you can sync before you jailbreak with blackra1n. But aslong as your on the 31.2 firmware already, and don't need to restore then you can sync.
