@fortisKID has explained very well so I guess you missed some step.

1. Target line on the Shortcut should read exactly as follows so just copy paste: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age\bin_ship\daorigins.exe" -enabledeveloperconsole

2. Go to C:\Users\YourUserNameHere\Docu­ments\BioWare\Dragon Age\Settings then Open KeyBinding Right Click it and Open With Notepad

3. In KeyBinding/Notepad Click on Edit and then Find and type in openconsole (one word) then click Find Next

4. Change OpenConsole_0=Keyboard::Button­_Grave to TILDE ~ (that's the button above Tab button)

5. Start game and when your Char is loaded Click on ~ then Back space buttons

6. Type runscript (at this point you will see a bunch of letter etc at the top of your screen which means you did everything right)

7. type in the cheat command you want like zz_immortal (for God mode, you will lose health down to 1 but not die. I like this better so I can lvl at normal rate)

It works and I have been using it for more than a couple of years. So thank fortisKID for the video.

Got this to work on Win7 Home Premium so it does work. Just doubble check that you type the cheats correctly and that you added a space between the " -enable..."

I'm trying to get it to work on steam... as far as I can gather you don't create a shortcut in steam, instead you right click on the game in your steam library click 'properties' - "Set Launch Options" and that's where you put the -enabledeveloperconsole

I've just changed the key assignment for the console, so gonna see if it works now :)

Hmm, ok, I can manage to get the console working but none of the codes I used are valid. I installed a mod that allows me to see what I am typing, but every time I try using runscript zz_money 100 I get the following "ERROR: Cannot execute function "runscript zz_money 100"

@dragonknight2335 first off u dont use "x" because if u type a letter wich opens the cheat console, u close it again. and there are words like addxp that have the letter "x" in it. use a letter or button u never ever use in this game. Like the button "B" is nice to use i think. And second u shold only change console text 2, not both!

Just a reminder. i had lots of failed atemts at this to, so dont get all winy because u dont get it at your first atemt.

When I try to go into the Bioware file, then in to the Dragon Age one I only get 2 files. One is for system information, the other is settings.

When I go into settings all thats in there is DAOriginsConfig and DragonAge, both say "configuration settings" under type. Neither have the OpenConsole bit.

Im on windows 7 if that helps anyone help me.

got stem download! it works if u right clicking on the game in your Games List, choosing Properties, and clicking Set Launch Options. This allows you to enter command line option: -enabledeveloperconsole

Then u do the part were u type in key for console.

u dont see the console comming up after tybing the letter u have chosen, but u can tell it worked if u cant move your character.

PS:at least play the game all the way without cheating the first time, else it kinda ruins the whole game play exp

you could try getting xp by killing mobs, try: runscript killallhostiles (nice for rouge, but all other clases work to, u can even pause the game and type the code)!

My dragon age origins directory doesn't have a setting folder! When I installed it, it did even come in the "BioWare" folder in my progrem files (x86)! And yes I bought the game! (from gamestop) Can someone PLEASE tell me what is going on?!?!? I can't find any "key bindings" file in my directory either! WTF???? @DarknessDCC 1. Is it Steam ver., if so , it will not work 2. Make sure you did everything said in the video 3. IF you chose a letter, make sure it's not already used ie. x, also, it must be capitalized. 4. Make sure u open the game using the shortcut. 5. To know if it works, type x, then right anything like hello, then enter, and a white keyboard letters will show on the screen 6. You can't see the code, so just be extra careful typing.

@cagolas91 is your key for the start of the cheat a letter, if so, make sure on the readme file that the letter is capitalized and not lower case, if it's a number or symbol, you might to want to rewatch the video to make sure that u did exactly what it said to do

I tried everything you instructed. added the -enabledeveloperconsole with a space before. then changed the keyboard in bindings to x. run the game thru the shortcut (also tried running it with administration). In game i hit "x" then started typing but it opens up the shortcut menus of the letters i typed. I do have retail version and have the cd. I tried running without the CD it cant run the game.. any suggestions?
