If other were so much less perfect than him for using the help of engineers, then why did Ross Brawn make such a huge strategic contribution to virtually all Schu´s wins? Senna had to have the car pefectly set up before he could take it to the limit...whereas MSC could take a dynamically unstable car to THE LIMIT...right out of the box! He is also the ONLY F1 driver that did not have an apparent preference for an over- or understeering car...as he was a MASTER at controlling both axles with equal perfection. And when he stepped over the limit, he made a single corrective flip with the steering wheel, and the car was in line again, without "swinging" through...

Strange then that quite some of Senna´s engineers (including Byrne) have said he was not the best from a technical and setup point of view and he could simple make the car better by driving around its problems. And Schumi has himself said numerous times he prefered an oversteering car. That's why Berger hated the Benetton so much.

There is no question that Senna was really good at focusing on ONE SINGLE QUALIFYING LAP, but he was NOT A RACER. He lost many team-internal duels to A. Prost, while MSC NEVER LOST SUCH A DUEL DURING ANY OF HIS F1 seasons. MSC won more points than ANYONE at typical drivers tracks (Spa, Suzuka, etc), and MSC is also the KING OF BRAZIL, winning more career points at Br. F1 G.P.s than ANYBODY, incl. Senna. Schumi showed the humble limits---as a COMPLETE RACER---to that mediocre Brazilian, when he outperformed him with a technically inferior Benetton. While there is no doubt that Senna was the ultimate ONE-LAP SHOWBOATER (i.e., Qualifier), he could not match SCHUMI during a 90 min race. At 34, Schumi won 6 F1 titles, never joining a winning team, while Senna won 3 titles with technically superior cars, also being defeated by Prost...
Without wanting to start a big discussion: Can you explain to me why in 1993 Senna, with an inferior, customer spec. Ford engine, not simply outperformed, but completely blew away Michael Schumacher, who in your view is a superior driver and that year also ran a factory spec Ford engine?
The equivalence of engine specs does (OBVIOUSLY!!!!) not imply an equivalence of (OVERALL) technical packages, since the engine is just ONE PART of the equipment. But, for each brilliant moment of Senna, there were more than 10 of those from MSC. Senna won titles, when he joined ALREADY WINNING teams, whereas MSC NEVER joined a winning team, but converted Benetton and Ferrari (the ridicule of F1 in '96) into winners. At Imola '94, MSC took a 30 point lead over the overrated Senna.
By that you imply the Benetton was crap in ´93. In ´94 it was the class of the field, at least for the first 7/8 races. Mind you, the B194 is just an evolution of the B193. And let´s not talk about `option 13` on the Benetton, which a superior driver like Schu would surely not have used. If you want to paint a picture of `REALITY` as you call it, you should include all facts. I respect you being a fan of Schumi, and i don´t argue his talent, but degrading Senna should be beyond any F1-fan.
The Benetton in 1993 & 1994 was just a winner under the control of Michael Schumacher, and still technically inferior---as an overall equipment package---to the Williams. From 1992-2004, the F1 championships were competitions that could be labeled MSC vs Adrian Newey (7:6). You could put anybody into a Newey car (even princes of mediocrity like Villeneuve and Hill) to win F1 titles, BUT ONLY SCHUMI won the other titles with R. Byrne's cars. F1 is a lot more complex than people want to admit.....
Another thing you could argue is this: I fully agree that Schumi converted Ferrari to a winning team. He did this with help of great engineers like Brawn, Byrne and Stepney. They were great assests in terms of race strategy, contributing to a lot of Schu's wins. Senna didn't have a team that strong behind him, he probably got most of his wins by determination and talent. Consider that if you're putting down his talent.

But is was a team that SCHUMI ASSEMBLED around himself. Senna never FORMED a winning team, because he wanted to drive and win with technically superior cars ONLY. And he certainly could not handle---in a sportsmanship-like fashion---defeats in team-internal duels against Prost. But, Senna could keep the title, after he punted Prost (admittedly in a DELIBERATE move) off the track, while Schumi even lost all points of his '97 season....Senna was an impressive QUALIFIER, but a mediocre RACER...
Schu probably was better in building a team. He was good from a driving point of view, but so was Senna. Being an expert you should know that the 1993 McLaren was technically inferior to the Williams, yet Senna nearly beat Prost (and blew away Schu). Prost's move in '89 by the way, was just as deliberate. Not to mention Schu's superb moves in Adelaide 94 and Jerez 97. And team internal duels are easy to win when your contract allows you to win them. His teammates were never allowed to race Schu.
That kind of comment, my dear friend (dennisvl21), could come right from the tabloids, authored for ignorant working-class trash...Senna could handily outqualify Prost, but he could not outrace him during a 90 min duel on the track. He was too much of a competitor and purebred RACER to accept a pre-crafted agreement that would convey to him a competitive advantage over his team mates. Quando temos um atleta que se destaca, nostransportamos pra aquela cena. Através dos jogadores de futebom, fintamos os países mais desenvolvidos em várias coisas e assim nos vingamos deles. Nos Fittipaldis , nos Piquets e no Senna, nos nos víamos em primeiro lugar. Por isso nem ligamos para os barrichelos da vida, e nem aceitamos ser vice.

When MSC came back after his Silverstone accident, he put the Ferrari on Pole Position for the inaugural race at Malaysia, but he held back DELIBERATELY, to let Irvine win the race, so that Irvine could preserve his title shot. Likewise, MSC reciprocated by helping Barrichello to finish the F1 champ. in 2nd place, and he let him get the edge at Indy, when he tried for a simultaneous line crossing.
Bottomline: MSC's # 1 status was determined by the lap-time sheets, NOT by an "a priori" contract.

Senna had to have the car pefectly set up before he could take it to the limit...whereas MSC could take a dynamically unstable car to THE LIMIT...right out of the box! He is also the ONLY F1 driver that did not have an apparent preference for an over- or understeering car...as he was a MASTER at controlling both axles with equal perfection. And when he stepped over the limit, he made a single corrective flip with the steering wheel, and the car was in line again, without "swinging" through...

Strange then that quite some of Senna´s engineers (including Byrne) have said he was not the best from a technical and setup point of view and he could simple make the car better by driving around its problems. And Schumi has himself said numerous times he prefered an oversteering car. That's why Berger hated the Benetton so much.

There is no question that Senna was really good at focusing on ONE SINGLE QUALIFYING LAP, but he was NOT A RACER. He lost many team-internal duels to A. Prost, while MSC NEVER LOST SUCH A DUEL DURING ANY OF HIS F1 seasons. MSC won more points than ANYONE at typical drivers tracks (Spa, Suzuka, etc), and MSC is also the KING OF BRAZIL, winning more career points at Br. F1 G.P.s than ANYBODY, incl. Senna. Ayrton Senna was made a hero ONLY because of his untimely death. Schumi showed the humble limits---as a COMPLETE RACER---to that mediocre Brazilian, when he outperformed him with a technically inferior Benetton. While there is no doubt that Senna was the ultimate ONE-LAP SHOWBOATER (i.e., Qualifier), he could not match SCHUMI during a 90 min race. At 34, Schumi won 6 F1 titles, never joining a winning team, while Senna won 3 titles with technically superior cars, also being defeated by Prost...

By that you imply the Benetton was crap in ´93. In ´94 it was the class of the field, at least for the first 7/8 races. Mind you, the B194 is just an evolution of the B193. And let´s not talk about `option 13` on the Benetton, which a superior driver like Schu would surely not have used. The Benetton in 1993 & 1994 was just a winner under the control of Michael Schumacher, and still technically inferior---as an overall equipment package---to the Williams. From 1992-2004, the F1 championships were competitions that could be labeled MSC vs Adrian Newey (7:6). You could put anybody into a Newey car (even princes of mediocrity like Villeneuve and Hill) to win F1 titles, BUT ONLY SCHUMI won the other titles with R. Byrne's cars. F1 is a lot more complex than people want to admit.....

Another thing you could argue is this: I fully agree that Schumi converted Ferrari to a winning team. He did this with help of great engineers like Brawn, Byrne and Stepney. They were great assests in terms of race strategy, contributing to a lot of Schu's wins. Senna didn't have a team that strong behind him, he probably got most of his wins by determination and talent. Consider that if you're putting down his talent.

But is was a team that SCHUMI ASSEMBLED around himself. Senna never FORMED a winning team, because he wanted to drive and win with technically superior cars ONLY. And he certainly could not handle---in a sportsmanship-like fashion---defeats in team-internal duels against Prost. But, Senna could keep the title, after he punted Prost (admittedly in a DELIBERATE move) off the track, while Schumi even lost all points of his '97 season....Senna was an impressive QUALIFIER, but a mediocre RACER...

Schu probably was better in building a team. He was good from a driving point of view, but so was Senna. Being an expert you should know that the 1993 McLaren was technically inferior to the Williams, yet Senna nearly beat Prost (and blew away Schu). Prost's move in '89 by the way, was just as deliberate. Not to mention Schu's superb moves in Adelaide 94 and Jerez 97. And team internal duels are easy to win when your contract allows you to win them. His teammates were never allowed to race Schu.

That kind of comment, my dear friend (dennisvl21), could come right from the tabloids, authored for ignorant working-class trash...Senna could handily outqualify Prost, but he could not outrace him during a 90 min duel on the track. The TIMED TRACK DATA (in comparison with his respective mates)---and not some arbitrarily contrived team order---did determine Schumi's ranking within the team. Senna converted 65 p.p. into 41 vict., whereas MSC had 68 p.p. and 91 vict. Now, WHO IS THE RACER?

There has never been provided any shred of evidence that MSC had a contract, which "a priori" determined his ranking within the team. As the brainless Briatore and L. di Montezemolo had stated on numerous occasions, Schumi had to EARN his status within the team ON EACH RACING WEEKEND ANEW. He was too much of a competitor and purebred RACER to accept a pre-crafted agreement that would convey to him a competitive advantage over his team mates. What a "remarkable" evidence provider you are....Could Barrichello--or any other pretender--ever beat a Michael Schumacher in an identical car over the course of a season? When Berger drove--in early '96--the '95 Benetton, he stated that he could not believe how ANYBODY could win an F1 title with that "Gurke" (English: "cucumber"). They couldn't, because if they did it in even one race they were demanded to move over for Schumi. In both races Barrichello not only touched, but simply beaten Schumi.

O mundo precisa de heróis.
Ayrton Senna foi um herói, e nós que o vimos podemos atestar.
Mas podem crer que daqui uns anos virá algum idiota com essa moda de "desconstruir mitos", tentando vender livros com narrativas imbecis.
Já fizeram até com Cristo, não custa nada fazerem com Senna.

ontem 02/05, estive no cemiterio do morumbi visitando o local ond está enterrado o Senna, moro no interior do parana, e desde sua morte prometi pra mim mesmo q um dia eu iria conhece-lo, infelizmente conheci ele com um atraso de 15 anos, mas a emoção foi muito forte. Valeu Campeão...
