@stacyracy I know, right? Looks like she removed her comment about her threatening me with "contacting the company" to "let them know" what I'm doing. They probably responded to her with a "we don't care", because well, duh, its free advertising for them!
@juliedarling75 And by the way, when I ordered my free one, they asked me why I wanted it, and I told them as such. So I don't know why you're acting like the freebie police when its not even your company in the first place. Secondly, anyone with a decent makeup collection is going to want much more than one, and thus purchase more. Its driving business, not inhibiting it. Plus you're a little late to the game, miss, this video was posted A YEAR AGO.
why give out the company info and make them lose money on shipping out samples to people who will only get ONE case and never buy from them?!?!? that is really shitty of you. the company sends samples so they can MAKE money, not lose money from ppl who are too effing cheap to buy a palette. i made my own palette for free from a cd case and it's amazing. i'm satisfied. i'm not going to use up a company's marketing dollars and shiipping costs to be a greedy ass cheapo!
@juliedarling75 why are you being so hateful? What is your purpose for just being flat out mean spirited? Actually, I have spent money with them after receiving my free one. In fact, I purchased about $50 worth of calendar cases a few weeks after posting my video, which was a lot more than I even needed to buy in the first place but I did so TO GIVE THEM MY BUSINESS. So I have no idea why you feel inclined to act like a bitter cunt just because you want to. Who pissed in your Cheerios today?
Thank you so much! I found an Etsy shop that sold pre-made palettes that were absolutely beautiful but even a $13 price tag was too much for my budget since I'm planning on depotting 80% of my drugstore eyeshadows and blushes.
I do have a concern; does the palettes shown close completely? I'm referring to how when you use a cd case and there is open exposed air from taking out the cd sifter. I hope you understand what I mean? (: THANKS
@Morganeezy yup! They close completely as long as the pans you're putting in them are not too high to prevent the lid from closing all the way. They aren't as break-proof as say a Z-palette, a UNI palette (because they are jewel cases) but that shouldn't be a problem as long as you're not traveling too much with them or dropping them!
Thanks tons!!! This is what I've been looking for!!! Finally!! I do have a question, though. Where did you get your square pans? I really prefer those to the round ones. You mentioned ebay, but I couldn't find them. Thanks for taking the time on the vid! Much appreciated!!!
@Jaycequeli yay! The ebayer who sells the square pans is Mehndi911. She sells them 20 for $8. I've bought from this seller a couple times now and no problem. She sells round ones (MAC size) too.
@Jaycequeli I buy 26 mm square pan from TKBtrading. They also sell the 26 mm (MAC) round tins. Be sure your tins are made of tin not aluminum because the aluminums ones do not work on a magnetize pallet. TKBtrading only sells the real tin ones.
@maryedgington well, the calendar cases come in a variety of sizes from as small as a business card to as large as their "landscape" size. If you get the business card size, you wouldn't be able to fit very many shadows in one, maybe only 2 at most. The biggest one (landscape) you'd be able to fit a LOT of shadows! 30 or more, I'm guessing!
Thank you for this video! I purchased the new coastal scents 12 pan magnetic palette but the description says that it has a soft padding. I was under the impression I could remove it, but to my surprise its a hard plastic. :( So I did what a crafty person would do and I wedged a knife and lifted it out. So now my palette is no longer magnetic. Thanks for the tip of purchasing strong magnetic sheets on ebay. You saved me a trip to michael's for a crappy magnetic sheet!
@MakeupOnABudget you're welcome! You'll kind of pay out the ass on shipping but trust me when I say its totally worth it. If you think you'll be making quite a few palettes, buy a larger roll instead of paying outrageous shipping on one sheet.
This is genius! YOU are genius! Where were you when I was painstakingly making them out of dvd cases with a dull exacto knife?!?!?! LOL! More people need to see this video! Just ordered my free sample and can't wait to get it! Thanks so much!!!
@jmpinkie I'm glad it is helpful for you! I just made a cream eyeshadow palette for mine and now I need more calender cases for a cream cheek palette for my freelance kit. Let me know how yours turns out! And if you care to promote this video and pass it along, you know, I won't stop you! :) Thanks for watching!
Great video! Have you seen the Trish McEvoy palettes? They are the same material you are using and they are insanely expensive, 20 dolars a piece (around 5x3")
@Petisa83 yes, as a matter of fact, I own several! If you look at my videos of my makeup studio stash, I show them there. I have a large planner and several pages for my NARS shadows and blushes. But you're right! Its totally the SAME thing (except for the binder holes)!
AWESSSSSSSSOOOOOME!!!! Thank you soooo much for sharing this information. It is sooo much better than using the dvd or cd palette. I really appreciate it.
P.S. If you have a video or idea on how to store your coastal scents palettes? Thanks in advance!
@majoshlin you're welcome! I don't own any Coastal Scents palettes (except for a concealer one) so I'm afraid I can't be too much help there. If you go to Hobby Lobby or any scrapbooking type store like Archivers, they have plastic cases that are meant to hold 12x12 scrapbooking paper. That would be my best idea. Sorry I couldn't offer a better suggestion!
yes, they should be as sturdy as any other magnetic palette but keep 3 things in mind 1) the LID will not have a magnetic closure; it closes like any other jewel case 2) if your PANS are made out of a material that isn't attracted to magnets, they won't stick to any magnetic surface and will slip and slide around inside the palette and 3) the pans can not be too thick or you won't get the lid to close all the way properly. I wrap ALL my palettes in a towel to keep them from knocking around.
@thorthursday nah, I can't see how they would be mad about someone being interested in their products. you might get your free one and then decide to order more!
@juliedarling75 lol you're not very smart are you

Will these fit Mac shadows? I'm thinking of buying some of these. Thanks for the great tips.
