  • Is it hard to keep fish? He was pretty. Do they need a lot of care?

  • @StarPir1315 Easy fish to take care of and not a picky eater!

  • i cant wait for mine to get that big, i just got mine hes still a baby lol look at my channel

  • owe and don't get more then one they love all fish except there self's a lot of the time unless you got at least a 55

  • and i got a albino one last year he very play full with my silver dollars i suggest try albino color up the tank

  • ten years i was told was good for most fish you had him 8 wow man be proud

  • Congratulations... it appears as though you took exceptional care of your rainbow shark! I am sorry for your loss. I hope you have purchased a new rainbow shark.

  • @Phoenix123474 Thanks for watching my video, I haven't bought a new one as yet, one day I will!

  • sweet fish! I have a Red Tail who is young, I love him, you had a sweet fish there! Sorry for your lose.

  • @ice57cube thanks for watching my video, he was a very good fish!

  • He was about 6 inches long, he was the best fish!

  • how big was he?

  • I just got a albino baby rainbow today. He is awesome

  • I used to have a rainbow shark but he was aggressive so I gave him to a friend. Its doing well in his 75 gallon tank.

  • That the fattest rainbow shark I've ever seen congrats if you got him that size your self and didn't just bye or aquire him that big in the 1st place .

  • @1stdanclaire I bought him as a baby and he just grew and grew and grew!

  • @1stdanclaire i had a rainbow shark when i was 8. it was huge and fat ! it was one lazy and agressive fish ! it barely ever moved and it looked like it was dead because he was old ! one time my dad tought he was dead so he scooped him up with the net then he thrashed around ! when he really died, my dad thought he was just doing his regular thing sitting around. but he sat that way for 3 days and we found out he wasnt relaxing !

  • I am so sorry I don't kno what I would do if mine passed away :,(

  • sad to hear your rainbow passed away, i am though curious to know what you used to feed him???

  • ohhhhh I am never see this shark. Thanks for upload.

  • Wow, your Rainbow shark is a lot bigger than mine! Sad to hear it passed away :( Check out mine if you have the time :) Chris.

  • what do you feed him

  • Isn't it funny how they take a break by resting on the bottom from time to time? Great looking Rainbow! Very deep red fins.

  • @aloyalblue1 Yes and thanks for watching!

  • @aloyalblue1 just like flying foxes do, mine are just so fat they do almost all the time

  • @aloyalblue1 not to sound like an ass, because i dont reply to sound that way, but these types of fish do that resting thing you talked about, they're from the carp/minnow family and carps are all fat and bone/cartilage, which is an answer to their laziness.

  • I have a hard time deciding which fish I like best between Rainbow Sharks, and Red-Tail Sharks... so, I have both types in my own 75 gallon tank (as wel as other types too). So far so good, some semi-aggressive actions between them, but mostly just chase/be chased vs. standoff situations. From time to time, they do scrap a little bit, but nobody gets hurt. Feeding time is when they engage in the most conflicts with others in the tank. Take a look, lot of very interesting items. Sub me too!

  • i have a 33 gallon tank with bala sharks and a relay large parrot fish and a mixture of other fairly decent sized tetra schools of a bought 5 ( 3 species and some weird mix )each and i was wondering if you knew if adding 2 possibly 4 of rainbow sharks would be a good idea or if i should use my 20 gallon living room tank instead for im not certain if these would be compatible / comfortable with my fish or should i use my extra tank for them?

  • @szadec2375 years ago I didn't research the compatability of fish, now I always do. Rainbow sharks are loners, will fight when they get older among themselves. I would put only one Rainbow in the 33 gallon tank you have. Twenty gallons is a good tank for smaller fish. Hope this has helped. Look on the internet for species that get along and what size they will grow to.

  • hey i have a 10 gallon do you think that i could put a rainbow shark in with a red tailed plz respond thanks.

  • @ddp7028 10 gallon tank is way to small for a rainbow shark. Don't put a rainbow and a red tail together, they will fight for territory. Hope this helps:)

  • @ddp7028 No and no, put a rainbow or red tailed shark in a bigger tank. Maybe even 40 gallons + and do not put a rainbow and a red tailed together or any other of their own kind.

  • i had one of these but it was slightly longer and only its tail was red, it was the biggest and oldest fish i had, i had to keep it in its own tank in the end, it was 5 and a half years old and was maybe 3 inches long when we got it and was at least 2 feet when it died.

  • @MrLukedanger They only get to be 6" in anysize tank.

  • @MrLukedanger wow, you are a good fish keeper, he lived a long good life!

  • woah yours is huge i just got one yesterday and he is long and thin like a stick

  • @XcelJake you will need to fatten him up, happy fishkeeping:)

  • @poemsforcreation thanks :)

  • is a cool rambow shark good in a 10g

  • @robloxago I would put him in at least a 20 gallon tank, bigger is better in my opinion:)

  • @poemsforcreation thx and now insted of a 20 gallon i got a 55 gallon for my shark :D

  • how big was he?

  • @kayaks17 Thanks for watching, he was about 6 inches, if I remember correctly:)

  • i had one untill jaws one of my oscars ate it i am gonna get another one soon

  • I have a rainbow shark and a red tail shark :p

  • i HAVE ONE AND ITS MUCH SMALLER!

  • Very original name! ;)

  • These fish really like hiding and require Cave like structures .

  • @PurpleSnowFox enjoy!

  • i love them i have have 2

  • i can tell you thought long and hard about his name xD

  • @007gazster

Can't put freshwater sharks with Cory catfish - they are bottom dwellers and will attack the corys for food - these sharks are scavengers more than anything else.

The betta will get nipped at by the shark - apple snails would be okay - 15 gallon is too small though.

  • RIP mr rainbow....you'll be remembered

  • I have one of these

    They lovvvveeeee hidin places

  • @Reconciliasion Great fish, thanks for watching and commenting!

  • @Reconciliasion yeah i have one to and it hides under a log

  • Do You Feed Your Shark Fish?

  • @DillSoooBased He was not a fussy eater, he ate almost anything I put in the tank. R.I.P. my Rainbow:)

  • @poemsforcreation Wow, he was huge! I got one three weeks ago and he was only 2'' long, 3 mm wide.

But then he kinda got stuck in a big shell, and, uhhh......

Well let's just say, he's in a better place now.

    What did you feed him?

  • @Pop12646Okami He ate flake food and wafers, always had a great appetite, thanks for watching!

  • @poemsforcreation You're welcome! :D

Thanks for replying back! Well at least I know what to feed them if I get another one....

And how big they' could possibly get :P

  • His life span was 5-8 years so you fish had a happy life

  • I think your rainbow shark is a pretty cool guy,

eh swim around your tank and doesn't afraid of anything.

  • hey please take the time and look at my first tank i will appreciate it /watch?v=cR40mGzrwVY <-- copy

  • @007gazster black widow tetras and tiger barb may fight each others

  • @007gazster Rainbow sharks should have a 40 gallon bare minimum. 55 Gallons is really what you should have before considering them.

  • @007gazster sure tiger barbs and cories with the Rainbow are a good combo. I don't know anything about the other tetras though. You will probably need a bigger tank eventually because Rainbows get to be 6 inches, I think 20 gallons might be too small for a full grown Rainbow, just my opinion:)

  • @poemsforcreation I seen Rainbow Sharks at 7 inches but that's rare.

  • How big do this species get on average?

  • @ChiefOfLife I believe 5 or 6 inches.

  • Wow I have the same fish he is 9. He used to play with 2 catfish and hangout with them, But they died last month :( p.H. problem

  • They are such a crazy fish. You gotta be careful what you put them with. They truly aren't afraid of anything. Except I once put one with an Oscar and you could tell shark was quite wary around that Oscar. Then when the Oscar left that tank, he claimed the tank his own lol. Typical behaviour of these fish. I've kept Rainbow and Red Tail sharks with a whole slough of different types of fish and it really does depend on the shark's tolerance and personality of who he likes and doesn't like.

  • @HolySasquatchTurd so very true!

  • @HolySasquatchTurd mine has no problem sharing her log with two african clawed frogs but if my kenyi cichlids or my johanni cichlid come near, she chases them away.. its funny but she only lets other fish into her territory if theyre sick, otherwise she chases them out

  • Great fish, sorry it died.

  • @The0utdoorsMan4Life thankyou for watching, he was a great fish!!

  • I know they are only fish, but god damn it does suck when they die. I just bought my rainbow shark a few weeks ago and loving him. They really are not that aggressive towards other fish, chases them out of his/her territory sometimes but that's about it. Have you bought a new shark since then?

  • @PurpleMonkeyWaffle No I haven't, don't know why either. Is your rainbow a young one?

  • @poemsforcreation ya he/she is maybe about 2 - 2/12". So maybe a few months old. Did you atleast replace him with another fish?

  • @PurpleMonkeyWaffle Certainly, I have, angelfish, cory's, blue gourmai's, pleco, tetras, and a huge silver dollar. I've been a fish mom for 10 years now.

  • how old is this one?

  • @MrC10H12N2O He died, I think he was about 8 years old.

  • Aww, RIP Rainbow. Must be hard losing him, rainbow sharks have such personalities.

  • I meant rainbow shark haha

  • I have a rainbow fish, silver dollars, bala shark & all that in my tank & none of them fight so? haha. :D but idk, they could when I'm not around watching inside the tank, but other then that they seem to get along.

  • @jbieberfever4everbby I'am glad for you, I think they might (?) get more terratorial as they get older. Thanks for watching my video!

  • @jbieberfever4everbby Bala Sharks get along fine with them. I've never had a bottom dwelling shark harass a Bala before. I can say never put a Rainbow Shark (or Red Tail) with Kribensis, Cockatoo Cichlid, Siamese Algae Eater, Chinese Algae Eater, Blue Loach, Bolivian Rams, Blue Rams, Dwarf Gourami, Honey Gourami, most cichlids unless they are big and tough like Parrots and Oscars.

  • @HolySasquatchTurd my red tail doesn't really hurt her tank mates (2 kenyi cichlids under an inch and a johanni an inch long...) she defends her territory of course, but she only chases them out of her territory and no more. you can see them in my cichlids update just skip to the part with the actual fish haha

  • are they easy to take care of?

  • @12345zxcvbnmasdfghjk yes, I think so and not picky eaters:)

  • @12345zxcvbnmasdfghjk 1) They need a minimum tank size of 50 gallons. This is a must. 2) A mixed diet is best. I recommend frozen bloodworms, frozen brine shrimp, frozen mysis shrimp, good quality flake, and algae wafers. These fish need algae/veggy wafers in their diet but not everyday. 3) Large water changes seem to really help them to grow faster. 4) 1 shark per tank is recommended as it's very hard to have them not fight one another.

  • @12345zxcvbnmasdfghjk I forgot to add - objects like rock and wood they need. They love plants too. They love caves as well. It's highly recommended for all of these.

  • im gettn a new aqaurium and etc in a day or so and ive mainly just had gold fish in my other fish tank, just wondering if these attack fish like that or do they cope with pretty much any fish in the tank and would be happy to hang around? thanks :D

  • @willnesssgt Rainbows are semi agressive, especially with their own kind, don't get a Rainbow and a Bala shark or a Red Tail shark, they will fight. Rainbows are good with barbs, loaches, gouramis and plecos. I research fish before I buy them now to see if they are compatiable. Happy fishkeeping!

  • i just got a rainbow shark and put it in a tank with silver dollar and bala shark. so far he has been hiding in a hut in the tank. any advice/info?

  • @catchsurf1 Be patient with the rainbow, he will feel comfortable in his new surroundings and act normal. My new pleco did that last year, and now he is all over the tank. They are great fish.

  • @catchsurf1 Hes right i have a rainbow shark. At first they are shy but give them time. They will become nice active fish.

  • is this the same thing as a red tail shark?

  • @12898warrior No, but similar

  • Very, very nice fish. Nice colors. Just one question. Are they aggressive, let's say with other types of catfish like upside-down catfish?

  • @KingNeptune151 They are suppose to be semi aggressive, my rainbow wasn't too aggressive, sometimes more playful I'd say. I don't know anything about the upside down catfish. I had a channel catfish and my rainbow use to "groom" him.

  • :(

rainbow shark looks more shark like than those catfish shark.

    i'm sorry for your loss

  • @dimpleinso007 Thank you!

  • i thought my rainbow shark was the coolest fish i had until fish started dissapearing (over a period of time) and then he attack my newt badly, his skin is all tore off and he was bleeding! so i chose to get rid of him after loosing around % fish and him attacking my newt! was a cool fish for a while... : (

  • @Thebeebugaz9871 I had a friend that had to get rid of his rainbow, it was very very agressive, my rainbow was not.

  • I just got a Rainbow Shark for my community tank! His name is Finley. He does great with all of my fish. But does NOT like the female Betta he rode home in the pet store bag with. XD (yes, I do in fact keep female Bettas in my community tank...and yes some of my fish are Zebra Danios >.>)

  • mine died today... we messed up while cleaning the tank. he was 7 years old and was huge :( great fish

  • @ak7cheech Oh, I'am so sorry for your loss, I still miss my Rainbow.... 7 years is a long time too, sorry.....

  • hey nice vid. how big can these sharks get and would it be okay in a 30 gallon

  • @skaterg807 Thanks for watching and yes I would keep a Rainbow in a 30 gallon tank. My Rainbow was 5 inches and he was fully grown.

  • I have a rainbow shark and an albino shark, I used to have 2 albino sharks but I think the rainbow shark killed one of them. He always seems to be chasing around the albino shark that is still alive and trying to bite him. When the other albino died it looked like he had his skin torn off on an area.

  • how big is your tank

  • @SpiderDriver2456 it is 75 gallons.

  • @poemsforcreation can you keep one of thoes in a 10 galon tank?

  • @T3Chess you can, but at least a 20 gallon would be better:)

  • The title of this video sounds like a cheesy mexican cartoon :l

  • He looks bigger than 5 inch on the video! A lovely fish, hope my Red-Tail becomes like this.

    Good video.

  • @ArcherBellGallagher Hi and thanks for watching, he was a great fish and still missed!!

  • its so relaxing havin a an aquarium at home and i spent lotcha time watching my fishes in the tank1dyah thing your fish kinda lonely in here?hahahaha1

    thanks for stopping by!

    cheers!

    Betty :-D

  • wow you had him for 7 years... i have two of them and a red tail shark. i am really trying to collect them. i need to get an albino and a blue white tail... cool fish.

  • @1pharoah2 Thanks for watching his video:)

  • he looks pretty big, how big is he???

  • @JBtheMG He was 5 inches long, he died suddenly last year, he is still missed. Thanks for watching!

  • ha i named mine rainbow 2 mines really small and very shy

  • @TheFightingwarrior They are a great fish too, I need to buy another one:)

  • @poemsforcreation i hope u have a big tank cuz they dont go good together they will fight for territiory >x]

  • @TheFightingwarrior I know two rainbows do not do well together, my first rainbow died last year, I posted that on the video. Thanks for the concern though:)

  • @poemsforcreation oh wow that sux sorry 7 years my god

  • wow thats a nice fish! too bad mine is super aggressive. i had to remove him from my tank because he killed my black molly.. bastard lol.. when i went to check up on the tank the black molly was upside down and my rainbow shark was nipping its tail.. i guess it was a bad choice to put him with other smaller fish because he was soo big he could bully everyone.

  • @masamune702 Sorry about your molly, yes Rainbows are semi aggressive, but mine wasn't the norm. Now if I buy any fish I research to see if they are compatabile with what I have. Happy fish keeping!

  • @poemsforcreation yeah.. i need to do some research about fish. when i bought the rainbow shark, i asked the person at petsmart if it would get along with my other fish and they said yes.. i guess employees at petshops arent always right

  • cool i got one to its mean to the red tailed shark

  • do you ever regret buying gravel that's more gay than george michael?

  • such a beautiful fish.. wow 7 years?

I love his color and the rocks too ***** thumbs up

    cheers!

    ~Eleven

  • NICE!! I've never heard of a rainbow shark before & then he's 7?! That seems really old for a fish? He's great! Is he friendly with you? Sorry if these are silly questions . . . I just don't know anything about them.

  • @JCVdude Rainbow and Red Tail sharks are so similar and he was 7 years old when he died suddenly last July. Wow, it's been a year already. He was kind of friendly with me, they are semi aggressive fish. He would chase his tank mates, but not hurt them. These aren't silly questions! Thank you for your interest.

  • That is a nice shark, sorry for your loss does a rainbow shark eat guppies, and do they bother fish?

  • @morenoaguileramex He was a great fish, Rainbows don't eat guppies, they are semi aggressive. He use to chase fish (I think he was more playing than anything else) but did not harm them. Hope you get one.

  • I have one too ;D

Im sorry for sudden death but he lived a good life.

How bis was he on this vid

  • @ReviewMediaTube he was 5 inches, and he is missed, but you are right, he had a very good like!

  • @ReviewMediaTube He was 5 inches, and is still missed, but you are right, he had a very good life and was a happy fish!

  • Nice Rainbow shark check my redtailed shark

  • hello i have a pictus catfish in a 30g tank soon going to expand to 55g tank.would this live comfortably with him and what do you feed him and how big is the tank?

  • @hellopie4567 My tank is 75 gallons, Rainbow ate almost anything, I fed him flake food and shrimp pellets and algae wafers. I didn't have a pictus catfish, hopefully they will get along though!

  • im sorry to hear that about the rainbow and channel cat i have 1 of my of both of them how big was u r rainbow before he passed on?

  • @cOdGd7 Rainbow was about 5 inches long-and fat and sassy:)

  • R.I.P rainbow

  • Nice fish, he looks pretty big, How big is he?

  • @flagstaff311 glad you like the video, he was about 5 inches long and a great fish!

  • @poemsforcreation you now that the he is actually a she.

  • @jairoelpapi100 Thanks, I wasn't sure:)

  • i had an albino and i think it jumped out of its aquarium when i was asleep cus when i woke up it was laying dead outside of its tank, is it possible it did jump out?

  • @whiplash2343 I have read that all fish jump! I've had some jump and found them dead and also picked them up off the floor and put them back in the tank. Fish are sooo slippery!

  • i just got my like last week..don't know why but never have it..so now i got it..put it in with 15 of my silvier doller..

  • JUST got one today!! thier so cooL!

  • haha i had a shark like that with a red dragon betta, and the betta chased it around and 4 days later the shark jump out of the tank and died.

  • sorry to hear about your rainbow shark I wasthinking about getting onehow long does it take for them to grow that big?

  • He was probably that big at about 5 or 6 years old. He is missed, thank you!

  • I got mines yesterday and he was going whiled! he was trying to jump out of the tank and everything... but when i turned of the light of the aquarium he seemed to relax a little. he made the boat i have inside his home and he really likes it now. What is the size of ur tank? and im sooo sorry to hear that he passed away :(

  • Once he feels secure he will settle down and maybe the water is different then he is use to. My tank is 75 gallons, thank you for your sympathy. My Rainbow is missed!

  • lol thanks for the information :) and no problem anytime :D

  • I got on yesterday

    I named him willy

  • Hope you enjoy Willy!

  • omg hes so big compared yo mine i got mine 2 monthes ago and hes skinny!!!!! well he eats good , his tank mates are peacock eel, dragon goby, silver barb, red barb, cory catfish (cleaning) , and pleco.

  • I have been thinking bout getting one once I get my bigger Tank. What size tank did you keep yours in?

  • I bought one yesterday. When I walked by Erik at the pet store I was attracted to his brilliant colours. The only bad thing is that he has only one eye. His right eye is missing. I still love him though. That is what makes Erik so unique!

  • Now that's my kinda shark - colorful and friendly! Sorry to hear that you lost him, but nice that you have some nice video to remember him. :-)

  • sorry to hear about rainbow, ive got a rainbow shark called sharky! lol original!

and hes best friends with my largest clown loach, loachy! always knockin about together!! yep, definately good fish!
