  • Sooo in the beginning of this game, you can kill monsters with a pepper shaker?

  • HOW CAN I GET THIS BETA TO WORK ON XP?

    Help!

  • Nothing in this looks even close to being as good as the released version. The disc weapon looks buggy as hell too. All things considered, it's amazing they got anything from this.

The underwater cage traveling sequence...was that final? I know I remember seeing that in some FPS game of the time period but can't remember if it was actually something else, like Quake (which would make reusing it pretty lol).

The enemies in the first stage don't look fun to fight at all, what're people smoking?

  • for a pre alfa its good , so why did we ended up with a fistful of shit ?

  • There's a post-alpha build of Daikatana?

  • Unfortunately John Romero made no one his bitch.

  • What's sad about the pre-alpha is that it shows Daikatana had a lot of potential. I mean, its not polished by any stretch of the imagination, but the levels look good, all things considered, and the weapons work pretty well (the actually hurt the enemy more than they hurt you). It's not high quality, but it is fun to walk through and fight. The art is pretty meh (especially the garbage in the alpha's files), but that's to be expected from a pre-alpha.

  • wtf? this looks better than the release version

  • Love that transforming weapon. Too bad it didn't make to the final version of the game :(

  • Fail

  • Looks pretty good.

History might have turned out different if the kids at Ion Storm stayed with their original game, instead of trying update their game with an entirely new engine, and royally piss off their fans with the delays... And advertisement.

  • @Jings0b Quoted for truth. I personally don't mind games that look liked this. I prefer blocky, yet detailed graphics, over high res polygon models. XD

  • Daikatana in Quake 1 engine looks better ...

  • Looks a lot like Quake, but without the dim lightings and dark atmosphere.

It'll be awesome to remake the graphics using the Unreal Engine or something.

  • Shame, this game had great potential, then John just screwed it all up.

  • Don't add music like this to your video, that's lame. This isn't kick ass it's daikatana!

With that being said, yha, the pre-alpha looks alot better then the final version. But there isn't enough green...

  • The pre-alpha was more fun then the actual game itself, seriously. Actually, I'm re-working the levels in the pre-alpha to suck less, but its hard to do it by myself. :(

  • They should have just kept the game on the Quake 1 engine and saved their money.

  • John Romero is going to make you his BITCH..lawl....this game is an epic fail

  • Suck it down!

  • Yeah. Suck it down and suck it hard.

  • Wow, this actually looks playable. The graphics, even for that time, were pretty shitty. This was the version in 1997. Well, that's the first thing I read. Anyways, the "finished" product was complete and utter trash, not even worthy of being released. The whole thing should've been scrapped the very minute we all found out that the money was being spent on John Romero's office... He could've actually saved his legacy. Suck it down.

  • O kurwa

  • Gdzie ? xD

  • Make levels BIGGER? Have you played it? It's main problem (the AI, the save system & that it hadn't been tested) was its long levels you got lost in. #that FUCKING BITCH Mikiko Ebihara. You go thru level after level, saving her punk bitch ass numerous times only for the CUNT to jump & attack you with the fucking Daikatana right at the end of the game! Talk about fucking ungrateful? Plus she stabs Superfly in the back & he'd carried the bitch an entire level when she got poisoned!

  • lol u mad?

  • why does that bird keep trying to rape you?

  • thats no bird...that's a chicken

  • now thats a very sexual spear.... im horny

  • This is very interesting (even tho I cant make the e1m3 map to work!) to see daikatana before it was switched to a quake 2 engine build. It is actually the first version with any kind of gameplay.

  • this was the first version which used the Quake engine in 1998 and when Half Like, based on the very same engine, looked way better already...

  • There wasn't Half-Life yet, nor Quake2 when this alpha came out. This is like first months in a game working stage.

  • It looks... playable.

I can't believe I just said that about Daikatana. Somebody revoke my gamer card.

  • didnt DAIKANTANA come after Quake? why does it look worse

  • I always wondered why people said this was a shit game...

    Now I know.

  • this is just pre-alpha

  • No, I never had it. In fact, I'm not very interested in Daikatana :)

  • Hey do you have the E3 demo video of this game? The one that was 13 frames per second. If so upload it for a good laugh!

  • I hope you guys are just joking :D For the last time - it's a game for PC, made some years ago in alpha state...

  • This gamegraphics look more worse the hl 1.I don`t think that are ps3 pics :P

  • The idea of creating a video wasn't to show my skills at fps games but to show this game in alpha state. Thare are some people who are interested in looking at games in a state before shipment.

  • @elzabbul Not that the released game as much better... ;)

  • It's Quake 2 engine, of course it looks shitty like PS3 gfx.

To whoever the creator: strafing and jumping helps you move faster and make the game more exciting. =]

  • looks like ps3 graphics

  • LMFAO CANT BELIEVE YOU JUST SAID THAT

  • I disagree.. looks worse then ps3 graphics.

  • No shit, considering PS3 looks identical to your system failure.

  • guys, please learn to detect sarcasm

  • Do you really think that a game looking like this would be designed for ps3? OMG... it's an old alpha version of Daikatana a well-known PC game

  • claro q lo sabia hijo de puta. LOL

  • Well known...though not in the good way. Actually, it looked pretty good for a Quake 1 engine fulled game. Shame, because truth be told, Daikatana could have been great. Just remove the bugs, rework the AI, make the cinimatics Anachronox quality ((Moving lips FTW)), and make the levels a bit bigger, and it could have been awsome.

...now I would love to redo Daikatana. ^w^

  • this game is for ps3?

  • lol
