@TheSummerof59 i think you're right; i have this 45 as well, and this sounds like a different version. sometimes on cd reissues the company will put on different (usually earlier) takes, often to avoid having to pay more for leasing the phonorights. Eddie doesn't sound like he's singing as deeply as on the 45, and the ending sounds different. it's also missing all that analog warmth, but that's a different issue, and beyond the help of the poster. nice photo of Eddie.
OMG I love you!! I have been looking for this song for decades. My little brother broke my 45 and its really hard to find on dvd. Thanks so much for posting it.
Well, I do aggree with you on that. The same holds for the songs lonely" and "Three stars". Eddie used to combine two talents. The one to play 50s hard rock'n roll and the other which expresses his emotional side. You got several guys who were same charackter at this time. For instance, Buddy Holly was the same.
What a song. I feel that Eddie had two sides to him, like Hank Williams. There's the side that sings Summertime Blues and Twenty Flight Rock, and then there's this side that sings Dark Lonely Street, my Love To Remember and Have I Told You Lately That I Love You, just listen to those songs and you'll see what I mean.
maybe 3,like in his version of long tall sally when he sings "well i saw uncle john with ball head sally he saw aunt mary comin and he ducked back in the alley" and in skinny jim when he sings with that very ruff voice. i mean thats only like a special effect voice but still counts
Wow, I didn´t know this song before, thank you for posting, Eddie you are great, see you in heaven

His tallent was on the level of his friend Gene Vincent. He could do them soft and sad, funny, or pure rock. They don't come like him anymore.

I have this 45, old and a little scratchy. BUT....
your recording does not sound anything
like my version by Eddie Cochran.

Awesome song. He had a few recordings featuring this kind of a voice. Think of "Lonely" or "rock n roll blues"
