anyone noticed this little tidbit: The very next year, McDowell and Holman meets again in the same tournament TV finals. Mcdowell leaves the same spinning 5 pin!! See video on YTube.
92' the year that destroyed bowling forever with the advent of the Excalibur from Nuline. Made famous by Marc Mcdowell 1 year later. By the way if you look at my 91 Touring Players Championship video match 1, Tony Westlake used the Excalibur as well but did not have success and it wasn't noticed.
Unfortunately I do not have the first match or the title match. ABC pre-empted the tournament for a half hour to talk about the Persian Gulf War. They did air the entire tournament but my VHS tape ran out of room. I was so pissed. You will see 'Special Report' during the semi final.
have you seen the match that Holman though a gutterball on tv. I cant find it on youtube. I remember that he was using a golden ball (i think it was a rino pro) not sure,
Right. It wasn't the gold Rhino, but I think the same Columbia U-Dot ball. Shocking, yes, but even more shocking was that he still almost won against Coffman! I'd love to see that on here eventually.

So basically the title match is about as rare as the 1989 ARC Pinole open?

I believe he threw a double gutter in 1990 on NBC TV.
