I gave this game way too much credit as a kid, probably because of what it offered over Fall of the Foot Clan. You move as slow as... well, a turtle. The hit detection is awful. The level design takes a while to show any variety. The cheap, unavoidable boss hits are frustrating. After the first Krang fight, the bosses almost get progressively easier as you go. But I admired the graphics, sound and total TMNT cartoon fan service. Even an evil REX-1 clone got in the game.
@ShadowAkuma1 All four turtles have the same stiff and floaty movement. It doesn't make the game so much hard as it does frustrating. The first TMNT GameBoy game didn't control much differently, but the level design was built around those limitations, instead emphasizing strategic placement and quick reflexes without a lot of movement. Some encounters in BftS employ this dynamic and are fun, but others incorporate too much mobility and call attention to the turtles' lack of it.
this is an emazing evolutionized version with amezing mind blowing graphics wonderfull intro from the arcade and nes turtles 3 and a nice voice sample, sadly the nes version of turtle 2 lacked the intro from the arcade game wich was a big dissapintment!!!
I was playing this game when I was around 8. I never passed the 5th level. I didn't realize it wasn't infinite. Sometimes I'd die while jumping/falling and since the level repeat itself vertically, I'd fall infinitely and had to restart the whole game in order to continue playing. :/ Because when you're dead, the turtle must touch the ground in order for the game to stop and let you choose another turtle to continue.
I'm glad I found this video to see that the 5th level wasn't "infinite" :)
@bl00derly It's fun if you like this style of gameplay. This was a very big portable seller back then. It was the only portable one I had. Nonstop action. Most of these types of games on the old gameplay scrolled ungodly slow.
i think i had this on a pirated gameboy game my mom bought me at a fair....

REX-1 was awesome.

@abgaxel I think it's because he's using Donny, who has range but lacks speed...

Boy, that game is HARD on hard. I always loved the music, it's just too bad those loops are so short.

@DBoy2029 Yeah I don't think I've ever done that. I generally play as raph and have to end up sacking Mike or Leo at the technodrome level.
