The bear in Sweden isn't consider to be extinct, it was put of the redlisted-chart of extincted animals. The wolf is very much extincted although the government don't seem to care since they allow the hunting of this species in some amount.

Bearhunting in Sweden is just allowed during about 3 months, after 15 october there is strictly no hunting due to their need of hybernating. I'm not sure of the hunting rules that stand in Polen or what European country this is in, but it should be illegal

The "law" came up 1442 and dictated that one was obliged to take part in the hunt for predators. This duty lasted to 1864 when they had killed pretty much all large predators i south and middle sweden. 1856 in Mora, in sweden, a large party of men, 4000 of them participated in a "battue"(i think) officially killing 23 bears...
