but thery are not 100 percent similar... just use a resistor made of coal instead of plastic and place it on the right or wrong position in the layout and an amp will sound differently...

u asked me if the 5150 is better than the 6505

there arent any differences but in my ears, the original 5150 sounds way more punchier

but thats imo... so dont worry

i wish the 5150 had a parrellel and series effects loop that both are independantly foot switchable. if it did it would be the perfect amp haha. so i could run a noise gate into series and delay int parrell. i might have series and parrelle mixed lol to early int he morning...

The 6505 is the new release of the 5150. The 6505 has literally everything exactly the same as a 5150.

A 6505+ has everything the 5150 II has. Peavey just had to make them under a different name because eddie van halen owns the name of the 5150

pre gain:5 bass:5 mid:8 treble:4 resonance:7 presence: 3,5 post gain is pretty low! but it sounds different on different 5150 heads!!!

i don´t remember my 5150 settings exactly ´cause now i´m using Splawn Nitro as a main amp...hope that helps

Not bad; even through the poor recording speakers you can tell that's a sweet sounding rig. The thick, dark-sounding VHT cab rounds out the high sounding, rough edges of of the Peavey. It has the cut and clarity of the Peavey but the warmth of the VHT cab. Good combo.

ever try using a boost pedal in the effects loop with lower pre-amp gain to get more clean headroom? i'm looking for more versatility out of mine so i can play covers @ bars. i love my 5150 but need a little more flexibility in crunch/clean tones for sure.

what guitar, and pickups have you got ?? I have 5150 with Dean Z79 and DiMarzio Evo2 bridge pickup. It sounds great, but my cabinet sucks - Randall RA412XC. I must buy VHT :) I didn`t test EMG on my amp. Do you test it on 5150 ?

but at higher volumes the sound drastically changes its character so You have to completely reset Your amp....

Nice sound dude! What kinds of speakers does your cab have?? Also, have you tried a VHT pitbull head?? If so, how do you like it compared to the 5150?? Im just curious since I have never seen someone play a 5150 through a VHT cab. Thanks and good stuff once again!
