  • Beautiful. Robert Smith has all my love. Saw them in Dallas in '08. Can't wait to see them again. Absolutely amazing.

  • Sounds great live however it's missing the violin that you hear in the studio track that makes the song that much more powerful

  • @Threemiles236

i agree with you, live it is a great song but the violin in the studio version makes it awesome

  • The greatest non mainstream band...ever?

Yet one of the most influential bands ever...easily

  • I wish an impossible thing.

  • No one could hammer the skins like Boris.

  • Maybe someone out there knows, ever since I saw this video there is a cymbal effect that doesn't appear to be played by boris on this song...is it done by perry or porl or is it on one of those electric pads that boris has on his kit? Anyone know what I'm talking about?

  • @mrpicky510

    The gong? :44?

That's Boris using an electronic pad.

  • ROBERT SMITH, The Cure. By far the best! My favorite band, my favorite type of music! Can go days on end listening to their music! Truly Fantastic-33333333333333

  • It amazes me how much beauty Roberts and the boys can conjure from the saddest of songs...simply awesome, wish I could have been there

  • The way this song is play the best lineup ever I wish I could be there,

thanks for shared this vid with us my friend just a TREASURE!!

  • Robert's smile in the beginning of this song is a true heartmelter indeed. Wow, how beautiful of a man!! ILY Robert!! ♥♥

  • woow,great song...

  • Robert looks so wonderfully handsome here!! I cant take my eyes off of him!! He melts my heart!! This song!! I do so love this song with all my heart and soul!! It truly pulls at all my heartstrings. Such beauty and pain together that just touches every emotion in your heart. I believe we all wish impossible things and long for them forever in our life. The Cure is such an awesome and amazing band of all time. The tears just flow.... ♥♥

  • Robert is just beautiful here. Such a gorgeous, gorgeous man indeed. Oh how I love this song. It truly touches my heart and soul so deeply. I wish for so many impossible things. My heart aches for them. What a truly phenomenal band of all time!! Pure beauty and brilliance. So heartwrenching... ♥

  • awesome beauty! robert smiles at 0:36 on the intro :-)

  • This is one of my all-time favorite Cure songs!! I really idolize the album version, listening to it borders on an experience with holiness. I SINCERELY miss the viola in this song. Robert flubbed a couple of the lyrics in places, and it's tempo live is a bit rushed. Still, undeniably beautiful and cool to see live, thanks for sharing.

  • Kate, I miss you!

  • the saddest song ever

  • A wry smile... Almost can't believe they made it...... Impossible....

  • Feel the rush...

    Live, forget about it...!

    Dark and Lovely...

  • He really has written some incredibly beautiful, heartfelt love songs.

  • this is the best song cure have ever written

it is beautiful and sad in one time

  • @acidfly29 what happened to Boris Williams?

  • At the moment, I feel exactly the same as the emotions expressed in this song.

  • what DVD album is this? pleasee tell me. . .

  • @boypaslot

"Show", That's the name of the VHS, cuz the DVD isnt coming yet.

  • fuck me...sigh

  • jason so much better dunno why people always go on about borris

  • Lyrics are amazing!

  • Das ist soo schön ....

  • This is probably one of the best videos of this band ever. Anyway if you love live cure stuff, check out curecolours com where folks upload all kinds of live cure shows for anyone to download.

  • it was the sweetness of your skin Ray Rios.....now all I wished is gone away....remember how it used to be, remember how we used to feel,,,,

  • Excellence..

  • I Love This Song, But It Makes Me Sad Everytime.

  • Great and beautiful song

  • love the way robert looks & those 3 are connected with their guitars & simon's bass

if only that night i could staaaand , right in front liiine

    & breathe.. & breathe haha

  • Is this concert going to be on dvd?

  • @WWEFalcon I not sure but they are going to remaster all the old videos and put them on dvd and maybe blu ray

  • @arrisfilms SWEET!

  • That's huge. I've been listening to this song for almost 20 years and just when I think I've forgotten it, there it is. Btw. I own show on VHS but I think it's worn out. Best of set has to be from the edge of the deep green sea. Porl rips that gold top Les Paul during the solo. Dylan wishes he wrote those lyrics.

  • @mrpicky510 I think it's come out on dvd this year or next so hopefully we call all relive it.

  • Just great. Just fucking great!

  • Luscious....

  • One of my all time favs. Such a sad song. RIP Leslie.

  • Als der Song geschrieben wurde war ich 12, heute bin ich 29 und es ist nach wie vor einer der geilsten Songs die es gibt

  • uncredible....many many good songs , but not transmitted in a classical piece of "modern dance" !Thats mens really fusion Robbert!

And a way to became immortale......

  • The best drummer The Cure will have in it's history!

  • Robert has the right to feel how he feels and not force himself to feel what he does not feel. We love Robert for his honesty!

  • zajebiaszcza piosenka,i kto mi powie że nie ma rzeczy niemożliwych do zrobienia???

  • amazing amazing amaging.......

  • Well the back of my VHS says copyright 1993 but no doubt it was part of the wish tour. As far as the audio recordings go, I've always prefered Paris over show. It's just a better set list in my eyes

  • yep.. Paris is better than Show :)

They should release a "Paris" DVD or BR

  • This song is on the video called cure 'show' recorded 1993 in Michigan I think

  • 1992

  • Where was this concert performed?

  • Still, incessantly, listening to The Cure.

    This music is really wonderful.

  • Oh man the smiths asleep or joy divisions 24 hours at my funeral. The ultimate tear your hearts out, last bad feeling I can leave to the world. It's been an unhappy life. If I had to pick a cure song, the funeral party would be too obvious. I want cold. Ice in my eyes and eyes like ice don't move. Ftw

  • Comment removed

  • Asleep is a brilliant song indeed. The cure has a lot of good song either like the funeral for example. Maybe som for your funeral :)

  • Great song... great drummer!!!!

    Bring back Boris Williams!!!

  • Smiths.. :O

  • They can play the Smiths Asleep at my funeral

    That will really kill them

  • Ya esta incluida en el playlist de mi funeral :D

  • I remember watching this song over and over again on my vhs copy.

  • esa gira a sido la mejor de the cure, creo q no se compara con ninguna otra. podria ser con la del prayer tour, pero no lo creo!

  • Heyyyyyy I have SHOW on tape, how come this song is not on it?

  • @mpresev 'cause it's available only on video.

  • i think its on Wish

  • @mpresev

It's on Wish, Show are live songs..this one is not on it.

  • goosebumps..

  • BORIS WILLIAMS = The best Cure drummer ever! and one of the most influential 80s - 90s drummer alive!

    BORIS: Return to The Cure!!!

  • I agree :))

  • i think "most influential" is a little bit exagerated, but admit he is damn good :)

  • "It was the sweetness of your skin

it was the hope of all we might have been

that fills me with the hope to wish

    impossible things".

Those lyrics are especially resonant with me at the moment. The opening of this song gives me chills.

  • @wrightherewrightnow9

I want this song played at my funeral!!!

  • I thought of that too - but then I thought, do I want to torture my loved ones when they're already grieving? It's such a dreadfully sad yet beautifully elating song.. <3

  • This is ART

  • I saw their 2008 concert here in Houston, Texas and it was great. Robert Smith still has the voice and his songs are the best.

  • like Neo i have been riding this idea that life is choice. well, perhaps more like choice within fate.

lately i have come back to the feelings i had as a young man, as fate is encircling me. this song reminds me of how i felt as my love was escaping like air from a balloon, slowly slowly slowly but inevitably, and i was just along for the ride.

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • The high part of the bass is so difficult to get :P

  • love!!!!

  • but now the sun shines cold

and all the sky is grey

the stars are dimmed by clouds and tears.....(8)

    beautiful song...

  • what happened to boris williams? is he still playing? last thing I knew when he left The Cure, was the project with the girlfriend "babcar"

  • he runs a tripe shop in Middlesboro

  • This show is from 1992's Show. This was the last tour he did.

  • the cure will be never the same as in 1992 they were. and the world will never be the same as then. so sad

  • @curelove29 This is the last time they were any good.

  • Man! I gotta learn how to play this shit on the drums. I used to want to be Robert Smith in my teens. but I worshipped Porl Thompson and Boris Williams equally, and now I wanna take up drums seriously and pretend that I am Boris

  • @darioism76 Dude do it. Become the next Boris, join the Cure, kick Jason Cooper's ass, and play Trilogy live so I can go see it. Thanks man.

  • @bigpipestyle Shut up you fucking DICK.

  • @towerblockrock

Why so hostile, bro? I was simply offering honest encouragement to an aspiring musician.

  • this song is just so beautifull

    and boris playing the drumms

    best line up

    best band

  • -.- its a song ive been tricked

  • Sadly the last 2 Cure album was so sucky that Wild Mood Swing sounds spectacular in comparison. Robert Smith now is writing songs which sounds like some bands that he used to loathe- like Thompson Twins. This song and the album that it came out of was their last great album. Wild Mood Swings was uneven, though it had some gems. Bloodflower was almost as good as Disintegration, but more painful and without any accessible songs like "Lullaby", but it all went down hill from there.

  • Boris Williams... we miss you!

  • Boris Williams is "the drummer" oh this band !!

  • Amazing song and incredible performance. The Cure at their best.

    Cheers from London,

    The Firegazers

Visit our channel, enjoy our songs and videos.

  • yes. the cure as its best form...

  • To watch Boris play this song is a dream!

Is incredible how he CAN play all the percussion sounds with the help of the two electronic pads and ALL his acoustic drums!

is very very sad to say, but The Cure lost too much when he decided to leave the band.

jason just doesn't fit. his sound and style are not for a great band like The Cure.

  • I agree with you :)

    Boris rocks!

  • gidal

  • this is prob the best Cure line up.. And no this is not out on dvd. I put all my cure videos on dvd with a vcr/ dvd unit..

  • One of my favorive Cure songs. It's deep and really inspiring. "Wish" is my favorite album.

  • this album was one of the soundtracks to my adolescence....what a horrifying and beautiful time all at once...thanks for being there, Robert. xoxo

  • When I hear this music my world changes to a better world, a perfect world.

It's the better thing in the all world. Just.. The Cure <3

  • Expectations broke both of us in two, Susan.

But it's nice to know the the feelings will always be there, just beneath the surface, when we meet again.

Hemingway knew it. We do, too. "Isn't it nice to think so?"

  • To all of you out there, who get Robert Smith to the same depth as I do, every time you listen to this song, do like me: turn the volume up, free your mind from problems and negativity, close your eyes, start dreaming, remember those days, who we might have been, who we were, wish to go back to that time....but, all in all, is it really to wish impossible things?

All I wish, is gone away....

  • How can a song be so sad, yet so incredibly uplifting altogether??

This reflects so well what I was going through when this album came out, and every time I listen to this album, it speaks about me, about who I was, how I lived, how I thought of things, how I matured, who my friends were, how young and free we were....how the natural development of life changed us....

I am so blessed, to be among those who get Robert Smith's poetry!

    :-)

  • The whole "Wish" album was so great, and still is, in so many ways....I was 25 when it came out, and the music and lyrics in it, marked and represented the very beginning of my maturity, and yet the apex of my spiritual freedom, which I still retain at 41. To me it also represented the point where my friends realized I wasn't stuck in a heavy metal cage like they were, but I was (still am) a combination of different styles of music, different, more intimate feelings, sad melancholy poetry....

  • wish is so sad, but so comforting

  • does this show exist on DVD?

  • no only on vhs and its called SHOW

  • Yes indeed! Until this next spring when they release it on DVD along with in Orange!

God, this takes me right back to 1992...

I'm still waiting for the time machine.

  • The year I was born :D

  • This is one of their most beautiful songs and the drummer Boris Williams is superb!!!

Jason Cooper, who is their new drummer, is not that good. His style is poor.

  • que tema hermoso =)

  • What DVD is this?

  • The Cure - Show ( VHS 1993)

  • i drown in sadness when i hear " but now the sun shines cold..and all the sky is gray...the stars and clouds are dimmed by tears"

  • Me too...Only the Cure can make songs that are ultra sad, but at the same time they are so beautiful that they make you happy...MIXED EMOTIONS FTW! lol

  • yeah that is exactely the verse where I begin to shiver.. it is so beautiful.

this song is probably the best on the Wish album, so sad but beautiful!

  • This song is filled with sadness and sorrow....but yet it is so beautiful

  • i agree

  • i love his voice...

  • same here, dude/woman :D

  • Don't be a numbnut. That's after all the ways of communicatioms were destroyed.

  • You're a fuckin' asshole. Shut up.

  • This album was the soundtrack of my divorce. As a matter of fact I took my ex to this concert, so she could listen what I was unable to communicate to her. She didn't get it. She never was a fan. I'm fine now. I'm better now.

  • so you have the cure

  • So ...you are freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • This just touches me so deeply & it almost hurts to hear - it brings back so many memories of my past...the past with the cure in my life....

  • I'm a HUGE Cure Fan! I love the Cure and every song of theirs I heard. I dont have any cds of theirs...And today was the first time I heard this song of theirs! WHAT HAVE I BEEN MISSING?! AGH! BEAUTIFUL!

  • Comment removed

  • This is such an incredibly sorrowful song.

  • it's ok..i've searched some guitar forums about it. it's a Fender Bass VI, some kind of baritone guitar. and yeah..this song is beautiful and sad, my fav!

  • the guitar that Rob uses, what is it? look like a jaguar..but a bit different.can anyone tell me?

  • I watch a cure video, and as soon as i see those shiny glasses behind the drumkit i know im in for sweet sensual earsex

  • Boris Williams shines on the drums! what a superb drummer. Too bad he is not in The Cure anymore...

  • Saw them on this tour in San Jose, CA. July 4.

Fantastic. As Robert Smith told the crowd at show's end, "It was a great time, and fucking excellent!!"

  • CURE is the only thing i keep for myself.

  • Awesome song!

  • momumental track that will forever remind me to stay hopeful of those things that seem impossible
