HipHop is dead...shit, the man who said it is dead too. And "we" killed them. 98 was hiphops biggest year and coincidentaly came downloading the same year. It was all downhill from there...the love is still there tho, don't get (that) fucked up.
Who ever thinks poetry is not rap, your dead fuckin worng!!!!! Rap is poetry an poetry is rap. Poetry is an expression of feelings and rap is the expression of feeling with beat. Listen to tupac and you will see what i'm saying.
@541Gettoboy Excuse me but you are wrong. You do not understand the origin of poetry and its aesthetics. The art and styles of being a Mc, you could say that has more of a Jazz influence. You can also say origin too! For example, listen to Cab Calloway's Jumpin Jive. You can also hear it in Louis Jordan too! Spoken Word is the offspring of POETRY, this is why people confuse the two.
@djflash808 I didn't see this, so excuse my lateness. No I do not. Rap is an industry term. Being an Emcee is what we're talking about. I understand why people confuse the two especially because of the spoken word movement. Both are literary arts though, but the main reason why they're compared is because those words evoke passion and meaning.
@UniqueDaPoet I disagree. Great Mc's have been compared to poets because Hip Hop artists were not considered musicians. Poetry and its aesthetic qualities has many forms but you cannot say that 16 bars and 17 syllables of a Haiku are from the same root.
@ozzdubar How do you think RAP got its name. R.A.P. is the art of talking shit. ie.. talking about stuff you dont have or wish you have, pimpin hoes, and slinging dope. RAP gave birth to Hip-hop and Hip-hop gave birth to some bullshit with no social commentary.
@arahb1 You clearly do not know what you are talking about. Hip Hop the culture started with one man Cool Herc. The term 'Rap' is an industry term. The culture calls it being an Emcee (Mc). The 4 elements are the; Emcee, Dj, B-boy, and Graffiti artists.
hey guys, it's very important and urgent, one Dj in Italy says with a US video document that the first group put his Rap on vinyl was The FatBack Band whit KING TIM III on April 1979, i'm not agree, does anyone of you can say to me if this is right or do you have another record?
@nicobeat2 I SUPPOSE HE COULD BE RIGHT ! .. BUT THEN AGAIN..IT COULD HAVE BEEN SOMEONE...NO ONE HAS EVER HEARD OF....SOME RARE, OBSCURE RECORD ..ON SOME FORGOTTEN LIL INDE. LABEL .... SO FAR I DONT THINK A RECORD LIKE THAT HAS SURFACED ,... UNTILL THEN...I THINK KING TIM HOLDS THAT HONOR
its mother fuckers like this who fucked up the world selling dope hoes fucked up moms and dads and this is cool think about it now look at the world
