@KamLautner - - no Kam, I live in Rockford, IL. Gina Gerdes, the neo breeder, lives in Fremont, Michigan, just north of Grand Rapids Michigan. When our female, Tootsie, turned 5 years old we had her spayed, cuz they are not supposed to have litters after 5 years of age. Gina sells Neo pups for around $1000 - $1200 for most. Tootsie is a great dog with no healthy problems. None of our Neos have any health problems. - - Lance

Adults eat about 5 cups of dog food a day, but we supplement it with people food, or they tend to be a bit slim otherwise; they live about 10 years on the average; they would get along with cats if exposed to them from a baby; they don't require a lot of exercise; Gina Gerdes in Fremont Michigan sells them for about $1000.

Yes, Neos are very affectionate to their owners and people they like. Big Brutus is a little over 2 years old now and about 180 pounds. We also kept his sister, Ruby.

Oh my gosh so cute! All puppies are cute tho. I worked at a dog kennel and a neo mastiff was in for a week while her owners were on vacation and I was the only one there who wan't afraid of her lol she was such a sweetheart. As all mastiffs are!

I have two Neo's, ones name is Jazz, hes only a year and some months (thats my baby) and I have a girl, Mystique. I can't stand that bitch.lol. They're so damn cute when they're puppies. omfg. I hate when you have to train them because they have to be house broken and they like to slobber and shit everywhere, but its all worth it in the end. I do miss those days though.lol. how much do average 8-week puppies of this age weigh? i found an ad for a puppy of this breed and the owner said that at 8-weeks he weighs 9 pounds. is that about right? i don't want to be scammed.

For a Neapolitan Mastiff puppy that is a bit on the light side. Our last litter had weights between 10-1/2 pounds for the smallest pup and the biggest male was 15 lb 6 oz at SEVEN weeks old. You could add a couple of pounds for 8 weeks. So I would be careful about this. A full-bred Neo pup should weight more than 9 lbs at 8 weeks. - - hottrod

Yes, it is very hard to hold a Neo back, they are extremely powerful dogs. Blue, our oldest male, grabbed a rope on the trailer hitch of my big 1979 F-250 4wd pickup, and if it had not been in gear, he would have moved it!! He gets to ride in that truck and I guess he decided he wanted to take it with him! Now check out "Big Brutus" at 1 year old this week, he weighs 150 pounds, and will reach 200 pounds when fully grown.

Here's another question: Is it true this breed can't digest beef? I had a Cane Corso and she recently passed away from some sort of heart disease. I heard it's common among these dogs but the vet couldn't give me any real source of the disease.

WOW! Only $600 each?? I don't want this to come across as rude, because I don't mean it that way... you must really be in it for the love of the dogs then. I rescued my boy from a pet store here in Connecticut and they wanted $2,600 for him! There was no way I was letting that happen. You'd expect to spend around that for a show quality dog from a private breeder. I was shocked! He's pretty happy now, regardless. As long as he gets cookies.
