@yeye11117 Why? It's just my opinion. While other MMO's succeed, Eve Online lags behind because it scares people off with a massive learning curve and very low entertainment value. Even with more veteran players, it is still sluggish most of the time.
@Daginni1 Eve isnt designed like most MMOs and for good reason. It has to have a steep learning curve otherwise everyone and their grandmother would be flying around in capital ships in a week. Sluggish...I have to agree with, but it depends on what you do and who you are with.

I wish there was a fleet option to move into formation, when ever i see a battle there are just ships randomly floating in mobs shooting. The game would have a much more cinematic feel like the trailers if there were formations.
0:38 "Keep your distance, I don't know what they're doing here" in game would translate to "Warp to safe and log out." and invincibility. Great trailer though, as usual ;D
Is there any money to be made as a Bounty Hunter. say Pirate hunting, because I'm considering getting EvE to try it out, but don't like the sound of mining non-stop for money.
@TheGreatRakatan Yes there is but it isn't easy as it looks. To become a good pirate or bounty hunter(Which is such a thing in EVE but not really used or talked about much) you need to have a good ship, guns, right type of ammo, armor and so more. Some corps can help you. But when pirating Concord and the Factions in EVE will dislike you and you'll be stuck in low sec for awhile. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it but its risky stuff.
This game is horrible. I don't know why it's so popular. The concept is good and all, but what the trailers and develepers tell you mostly is'nt true. "EXPERIENCE EPIC BATTLES", and fleet battles are only a once in a life time experience.

@8element you can decide. you can fulfill missions or join a corporation, which might soon involve you into battles or you can play as a miner/trader/speculant/fabric tycoon... in eve everything's possible
I hate it how EVE players think they're some kind of superior race, just because they play a game which is pointlessly complicated. The vast majority of the game consists of sitting down and waiting for the game to finish something. Wanna go to a different station? Then click where u wanna go and sit back for 20 minutes and do nothing. Wanna mine something, click on what u wanna mine and sit back for 20 minutes! EVE is a boring ass game!

@Samage89 Mypoint is that in other MMO's, you actaully have to do something. On EVE, all u seem to do is scroll through endless menus, and then sit back and watch the game play itself. What else do people on EVE play it for?
@SamJamRic For Instance I like to make money, in Eve their is ALOT of ways to make money, it's not just grinding, you can control the market, take shares, blackmail people, harass corporations. their is just so much to do in eve you get lost in what to do.
I also love exploring deep space, finding new areas.
Most mmo's won't facilitate half the stuff eve does.
@VarykGerai I find if you want to do manufactureing it is far better to just invest in buying the minnerals and then build the stuff. Meanwhile mission so that you can get the decent named gear that you cannot build and reprocess what ever loot just isn't worth selling to use in the manufactureing. Also it is really good to use the LP from the missions to buy implants and sell them. I generally get about 1000 isk in porfit for every one LP I spend. And I get a base 4000 Lp from just one mission.

@bossinator666 Well I got a little advice for you when you start playing. First, find an experienced player that is willing to help you learn the game. Eve is complicated. Second, DON"T MINE! It is boreing and won't really make you much profit in the "safe" areas of the game. Running missions will net you much more profit in the long run and the skill training for them will help you in PVP. Oh not to mention it can earn you some sweet faction ships.
@kurisu925 mining on itself wont get you rich yes, but if you combine it with researching and manufacturing isk / hour can go as high as mission running easily, and might be not borring if you enjoy trading. Especialy when you know how to find and get into stations that got shit markets with high demand on certain stuff.
@VarykGerai Yea untill you take into consideration the LP stores. In highsec mining will generally make you about 30 mill an hour if you mine the most valuable minnerals. Problem is if you are mining for manufactureing you often end up either selling some of your minnerals to buy the lower value minnerals you need or waste extra time mining them instead. Also most manufactureing I have done only really gives a 10% profit margin. so that is an additional 3 mill an hour.

The main reason why people think eve sucks is simply because they couldn't figure it out when they started. Eve does not have a learning curve... It has a learning cliff. Only after climbing the cliff can you understand how truely epic the game is. Most Eve players like it this way because the Eve learning cliff tends to weed out the idiots rather quickly.

@avatarhammer As panzerx7 just said IT is getting thier asses handed to them so if CCP is doing everything within thier power to help them then how come it does not seem to be helping? I don't know what caused your connection problems but you have presented no solid evidence to suggest that it was intentionally induced by CCP. Are you certain that the fight was not simply so large that the server itself had problems? That does happen some times with the large fleet fights.
ok let me make it shorter. eve sucks dont waste your time playing it . all these years & they still havnt fixed the issue of lagg ( game gets really slow ) and when the lagg gets really bad you get kicked off the game. creators of the game has people that get special treatment. special privliages while everyone else gets treated like crap.

Titans are generally only used in serious alliance conflicts, considering the time and expense needed to build them, and those battles are generally just blob warfare, which is NOTORIOUS for lag. Again, find me an online game that DOESN'T have lag. I never said EVE doesn't have lag, I'm just saying we all owe Captain Obvious here a thank you.

eve is nice but once you get to a point where you fleet up with a large group of people & your large group is going to fight another large group the system gets over loaded & then everyone gets booted off line & then after the system recovers you logg on to find your self floating in space in your pod & your ship is blown up & you didnt even get a chance to experience the battle or even know what happened what a fucken joke!!! i wonder if wow is like that.

i tried the demo and couldn't stay on it due to the steep learning curve. can't deny it looks and feels great though. the community is especially unique. you'll find a mixture of elitists and extremely generous people. i remember complaining about being cash-strapped on open channel and some random dude sent me half a million just like that.
@RazLtk Definitely. It's kinda slow paced to begin with (and much later on, the gap between is fun) but once you get your skills up a bit, things get interesting, depending on your trade. Life as a pirate changes day to day, one day you could be taking out small mining ops, the next you could be involved in a war against a megacorp.

I love this game... if only it was a little faster pace id play it again. i play wow not cause its easier. but because the pvp is a lot faster pace. and if you fuck your rotation. ur fucked. all this my game is better than yours shit needs to stop. everyone that gets involved in it needs to get off the computer and get into sports.

you can still download the client (free of charge, as with every expansion, which they make every 3 or 6 month, I dont remember) and create a free 14 days trial account. in fact, you can create hundreds of trial accounts!
WoW: Easy game play with most player are Cuddly care bears that think hardcore PvP is when you get longer spawn times as penalty. End goal is to have some epic stuff while at highest level. [easy to learn]
EvE: Hardcore game play, with most player are intelligent decisions makers that try to survive in the ruthless environment provided in a sand box style game. There is no end goal, you make your own path, always have an option to chose a new side to work with, or plot against. [hard to learn]
After 4 years of play I can say ccp really has lost touch with its player base to the point the only thing I am looking forward to this expac is the fix to PI making it not a mouse killer, I think alot of hardcore have labeled ccp posers after bending over for Atari and trying to make a wowish raid system with the sash npcs

I wish there was a fleet option to move into formation, when ever i see a battle there are just ships randomly floating in mobs shooting. The game would have a much more cinematic feel like the trailers if there were formations.

@TheGreatRakatan Yes there is but it isn't easy as it looks. To become a good pirate or bounty hunter(Which is such a thing in EVE but not really used or talked about much) you need to have a good ship, guns, right type of ammo, armor and so more. Some corps can help you. But when pirating Concord and the Factions in EVE will dislike you and you'll be stuck in low sec for awhile. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it but its risky stuff.

This game is horrible. I don't know why it's so popular. The concept is good and all, but what the trailers and develepers tell you mostly is'nt true. "EXPERIENCE EPIC BATTLES", and fleet battles are only a once in a life time experience.

I hate it how EVE players think they're some kind of superior race, just because they play a game which is pointlessly complicated. The vast majority of the game consists of sitting down and waiting for the game to finish something. Wanna go to a different station? Then click where u wanna go and sit back for 20 minutes and do nothing. Wanna mine something, click on what u wanna mine and sit back for 20 minutes! EVE is a boring ass game!

@SamJamRic For Instance I like to make money, in Eve their is ALOT of ways to make money, it's not just grinding, you can control the market, take shares, blackmail people, harass corporations. their is just so much to do in eve you get lost in what to do.
I also love exploring deep space, finding new areas.
Most mmo's won't facilitate half the stuff eve does.

@VarykGerai I find if you want to do manufactureing it is far better to just invest in buying the minnerals and then build the stuff. Meanwhile mission so that you can get the decent named gear that you cannot build and reprocess what ever loot just isn't worth selling to use in the manufactureing. Also it is really good to use the LP from the missions to buy implants and sell them. I generally get about 1000 isk in porfit for every one LP I spend. And I get a base 4000 Lp from just one mission.

@bossinator666 Well I got a little advice for you when you start playing. First, find an experienced player that is willing to help you learn the game. Eve is complicated. Second, DON"T MINE! It is boreing and won't really make you much profit in the "safe" areas of the game. Running missions will net you much more profit in the long run and the skill training for them will help you in PVP. Oh not to mention it can earn you some sweet faction ships.

@kurisu925 mining on itself wont get you rich yes, but if you combine it with researching and manufacturing isk / hour can go as high as mission running easily, and might be not borring if you enjoy trading. Especialy when you know how to find and get into stations that got shit markets with high demand on certain stuff.

@VarykGerai Yea untill you take into consideration the LP stores. In highsec mining will generally make you about 30 mill an hour if you mine the most valuable minnerals. Problem is if you are mining for manufactureing you often end up either selling some of your minnerals to buy the lower value minnerals you need or waste extra time mining them instead. Also most manufactureing I have done only really gives a 10% profit margin. so that is an additional 3 mill an hour.

The main reason why people think eve sucks is simply because they couldn't figure it out when they started. Eve does not have a learning curve... It has a learning cliff. Only after climbing the cliff can you understand how truely epic the game is. Most Eve players like it this way because the Eve learning cliff tends to weed out the idiots rather quickly.

I don't know what caused your connection problems but you have presented no solid evidence to suggest that it was intentionally induced by CCP. Are you certain that the fight was not simply so large that the server itself had problems? That does happen some times with the large fleet fights.

@avatarhammer Well if you're running 10 accounts simultaneously, that's going to eat up your bandwidth. Maybe you should try running fewer accounts.
Titans are generally only used in serious alliance conflicts, considering the time and expense needed to build them, and those battles are generally just blob warfare, which is NOTORIOUS for lag. Again, find me an online game that DOESN'T have lag. I never said EVE doesn't have lag, I'm just saying we all owe Captain Obvious here a thank you.

eve is nice but once you get to a point where you fleet up with a large group of people & your large group is going to fight another large group the system gets over loaded & then everyone gets booted off line & then after the system recovers you logg on to find your self floating in space in your pod & your ship is blown up & you didnt even get a chance to experience the battle or even know what happened what a fucken joke!!! i wonder if wow is like that.

i tried the demo and couldn't stay on it due to the steep learning curve. can't deny it looks and feels great though. the community is especially unique. you'll find a mixture of elitists and extremely generous people. i remember complaining about being cash-strapped on open channel and some random dude sent me half a million just like that.

@RazLtk Definitely. It's kinda slow paced to begin with (and much later on, the gap between is fun) but once you get your skills up a bit, things get interesting, depending on your trade. Life as a pirate changes day to day, one day you could be taking out small mining ops, the next you could be involved in a war against a megacorp.

you can still download the client (free of charge, as with every expansion, which they make every 3 or 6 month, I dont remember) and create a free 14 days trial account. in fact, you can create hundreds of trial accounts!

WoW: Easy game play with most player are Cuddly care bears that think hardcore PvP is when you get longer spawn times as penalty. End goal is to have some epic stuff while at highest level. [easy to learn]
EvE: Hardcore game play, with most player are intelligent decisions makers that try to survive in the ruthless environment provided in a sand box style game. There is no end goal, you make your own path, always have an option to chose a new side to work with, or plot against. [hard to learn]

After 4 years of play I can say ccp really has lost touch with its player base to the point the only thing I am looking forward to this expac is the fix to PI making it not a mouse killer, I think alot of hardcore have labeled ccp posers after bending over for Atari and trying to make a wowish raid system with the sash npcs
