  • is really nice but can u play it in acoustic guitar ?? it would be awesome

  • nice one

  • PLEASE MARRY ME.

  • You've got the main opening riff wrong too.

  • If you're playing this with a capo your being lazy. Really if you stick with your basic chords you wont progress. I suggest everyone learns the right chords and then make up your own fills with it.

  • Came here to learn something. Learned nothing because I was too busy listening to your lovely playing.

  • thank you soooooooooo much

i can play this song now !

the result on my channel !

  • your great man! :)

and thank you for all of your tutorials :P:P

  • hey, such a good tutorial and inspiration thanks!!

  • NIce one!!!

  • this is great, thanks :)

  • you have dimples(;

  • Capo? Are you serious!?!

  • i love 1:06 to 1:08

  • nice dimples hA

  • What key are you playing in?

  • With the capo it's in E. The first chord, however, is a C# minor, which kind of makes it sound like it's in a minor key, when really it's not.

  • Tabs would be great.

  • This is good for beginners who want to learn a cheater way. However, you should learn the real way without a capo.

  • kinda different but nice swing on it i prefer the thumb playing bass notes technique really frees up your playing nice job

  • awesome lesson man. thank you. 5 stars

  • Thanks, man

  • Great lesson man. Thanks!

  • great lesson thanks.

  • @kim245dgr8t if you didn't suck, maybe you could learn it yourself.

& if you didn't REALLY suck, you should be able to follow with your eyes. If not, this song it too advanced for you.

Maybe someone can find you a link to twinkle little star.

    Thanks again Stingeray

  • @kim245dgr8t this lesson was helpful... Ignore this fool

  • gtfo kim. thanks from the uk stingeray!

  • amazing lesson and amazing guitar and thanks man. john mayer fans unite !

  • kinda confused at what order ur playin the strings in, but ur awesome!

  • Thank You

  • haha you skipped all the way to the end..

its not a silly little moment

its not the storm beofre the calm

this is the deep and dying breath of

this love that weve been working on

cant seem to hold you like i want to

so i can feel you in my arms

nobodys gunna come and save you

weve blown to many false alarms

    if i remember correctly

  • @GuitarFreak1007 well it's probably (pulled) too many false alarms.. close though

  • You sing and play very well. good going..

  • Awesome job m8! cant wait to get started on this

  • excellent tutorial! even if it is played differently, harmonically it is the same and works very well. everybody is going to have different preference of how to play therefore if you dont like it, then go find another video. otherwise appreciate each unique style! great stuff stinger!

  • beautiful, man! ... with the capo it sounds better than all the other intro-tab.versions. thx!

  • Thanksss

  • Even though you got the chord names wrong, I still enjoyed listening to your version.

  • THanks man=)

  • This is fantastic, could you please make a complete tab of your version because it sounds brilliant...

  • Thanks but i really don't make tabs =)

  • Ah, no worries, thank you for replying anyway,

  • nice lesson man

  • Thanks!

  • Oh i'm sorry, just trying to help, sorry if it confuses anyone =)

  • @stingeray great tutorial man, and if i'm using a capo, i'd call the chords what they were relative to the capo. it's more accessible to people who don't know as much musical theory. and for those that are lucky enough to know some, hey it's not hard to figure that he's playing a C#m, A and an E.

  • @stingeray dont let it get to you man. your helping out alright! its very helpfull for people like me who likes to sing and dont have all day tryin to learn the original. Besides they sound just the same! Anyway music is about flow, soul and emotions. you play with emotions and thats what Matters! Good work! keep it up :)

  • @denythel dont be a douche. im sure he knew that but some people dont really care bout that. Yes the shapes are the same and the chords are changed but instead of saying C#m/ A/ E or whatever it is, people wont be confused. Stop trying to know everything cuz the guy is just helping people learn a song

  • @denythel chill a little bit.

you can see he's pretty young and we all know when you capo you change the name of the chord but the shape remains the same hey that could almost be a song title the shape (song) remains the same. In the final analysis, if the persons viewing the tutorial actually LEARN TO PLAY and express themselves; isn't that the essence of the tutorial and the real meaning behind the music?

  • @denythel ok do that explanation in ur tutorial coz no one cares....from what we learn it the replace of a new fret . Therefore the if an Am shape is done on the new fret we still take it as Am we dont care what u think

  • @denythel : he´s just trying to help! , and every body get it! even if the names are wrong! so, take it easy man!

  • @denythel Um, I'm not even sure if your comment is even correct but it's certainly not confusing to people to call an Am shape Am. It would actually be a lot more confusing to take your suggestion.

  • @denythel Since when do we call an Am by a different chord name just b/c of a capo is placed? You may be very well be right in your comment but what YOU suggest is a whole lot more confusing than what this guy is saying. P.S. you sound like an ass with that last sentence. It's a tutorial, and he's trying to help people, at least be courteous and respectful in your comments.

  • Once you get rid of the Squire or Epi, you can no longer call a C#m an Am b/c of a capo. And denythel is totally justified in his comment. Maybe the lack of theory, or in this case basic knowledge, of music is why there most new music is awful... I'll bet Justin Beiber has the same attitude about transposing. (that means using a capo in simpleton terms)

  • @denythel omg dramaqueen

  • you're some prick

  • very good guitar player.

    cute accent... and dimple :)

  • youre a very good singer!

  • you made this song so much easier for me...thanx you so much!!!!

  • No prob!

  • thanks man - good idea to capo it - does make it a peice of cake for acoustic

  • very good

  • dude are you french?

  • This is a great tutorial even if it is different than the way John Mayer plays it. Excellent job my friend.

  • If you can't play this after watching you might be slightly retarded. It's a great tutorial, clearly it's not the way John plays it, but this version is perfect for acoustic. Stop complaining, I'm sure if you want to learn how to play it like John there are tabs and other tutorials, have fun.

  • @Perrons7 Hahahah....

  • It sounds good, but this isn't the actual way John Mayer plays it.

  • hahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • and u r be retarrd. a der der.

  • i wanna put my penis is u

  • right so without the capo the chords are C#m, G, and.. little help?

  • meant A instead of G

  • Without capo it's C#m, A, and E

  • it's still C#m,A and E i don't know why he thinks otherwise, he just put the capo on, didn't change anything

    harmonically

  • thtz the point, itz supposed to sound the same, jus easier chords to play

  • The song isent all that hard to play anyway....so why not play it the proper way?

  • If you are going to teach someone how to play this song, play it like the artist...

  • Ummmm......tutorial?? Anyone - I felt like I was watching a narrated cover

  • nice tut, but could you please explain the picking pattern? I can't get it :(

  • thanx

  • can you post another instructional in which you go note by note? Its kinda hard for me to understand what exactly you're doing. Thanks!

  • thank you sooo much

ive been trying to learn this song and your way is sooo much more simple. hha thanks

  • great!

  • If you pause the video about 18-20 seconds in you can see its on the 4th fret. You can tell by looking at the dots on the fret board also... not that hard really.

One thing that would be cool would be to know the picking pattern for the melody. :)

  • how did you tune your guitar?

  • could u send me the tabs for this..i'd really appreciate it :D thanks

  • Don't know why people are knocking this video. OK it's not played the same as JMayer but I think this sounds great and I can play it! thanks mate!

  • Wow, calling him a chink when he he isnt even Chinese. You're a classy guy my friend. He's actually playing it an easier way than John does it plus its capo'ed.

  • Well, you're an intelligent one, aren't you? Someone should have warned your parents about what happens when siblings reproduce. The ignorance of people on you tube amazes me, no wonder our country is hated.

  • I can guarantee that I am more intelligent than you. Your style of writing screams ignorance and stupidity. Don't fuck with the bull son, you'll get the horns.

  • "YOU AIN'T KNOW NUFFIN BOUT DANK!! Change your name before I change your life switch from on to OFF BITCH!!"

Intelligence at its best. On another note, I'm not entirely sure you know what ignorant means,

  • Wait! Don't stop there! Didn't you have more to say? Or do you just not understand how to use punctuation. See, usually when you leave a comma after a word it signals that you have more to say. And I really don't care what you "think" I know or don't know, especially since your questioning of my understanding of the word "ignorant" has no validity whatsoever. Lastly, referring to my comment to Danklin24, you're just mad because you, like he, know nothing about dank.

  • A mere typo my friend, but if your going to play grammar police you should check yourself.

  • Sorry, I can't play grammar police. I'm too busy playing karma police.

  • That's good, you definitely have some comming too you with that first comment.

  • More like some cumming.

  • Ah, and we're mature too...

  • Okay, before I could have been understandable and taken your word that you made a "mere typo" but now I just think you have the communication skills of 3rd grader. Look at your last sentence!

"That's good, you definitely have some comming too you with that first comment."

Let me help you out: "comming" is spelled c-o-m-i-n-g and you need to learn the usage differences between "too" and "to."

Proving your idiocy is too easy. I don't even have to do anything!

  • this is hilarious this guy got so much shit for this .. look at all the comments.. yea bro u f'd up

  • Yeah, but even with the capo on it's C#m, A and E! It isn't much good doing a tutorial if you don't know the chords you're playing!

  • def. wrong, but it is nice picking

  • if you cant even see what fret the capo is on your blind you retard. and the capo is so he can sing in tune with it into his range.

  • if you cant tell..98% of the people that have posted something negative is directly related to how much they can actually play guitar. If they need somebody to tell them what fret to capo, they need not to pick up a stringed instrument. Besides THAT point..he's correct at the chords. Just because he capo'd his guitar doesnt mean shit. God gave us a thumb for a reason. To fuckin capo the strings ourselves. Love the singing and style. Mix it up, make it your own. great vid.

  • heyy! ledzeppelin1967, shut the fuck up. i was talking to the guy who was mad because he didnt tell us where the capo was. and i said if you cant see where it was your blind.

i DID say however. that it doesnt matter where the capo is i said he put the capo relative to his voice so he can sing. what did i say that was false please tell me? i was talking to someone else and correcting them and now you correct me on something that i didnt say. wtf?

    this guy rocks.

  • my comment wasnt a negative comment if you could read. if you could read. then you could see that I complimented him lolol. Dont be so defensive.

  • it was too negative what the hell and with horrible sentence structure you start of the comment saying "if you cant tell"

like im an idiot and then say something that i didnt say.

  • he didn't put the capo there to acount for his voice, the chords in the songs are actually c# minor, a major, and e. But by putting the capo there all he has to bar is the a major which he calls an f.

  • you're right

  • my god this was great. i like using the riff that john uses on the album for the Am chord then into the C then f. sounds fabulous!

  • dude nice one, but could you make a vid saying what strings to plug as ChiquitBanana710 said, would make this awesome :D

  • but it isn't played with a capo....

  • it sounds pretty much the same as the way john plays it, but yes he plays it differently.

  • Yea, its because the bassist plays the root notes and John just plays the melody

  • This sounds spot on, but could you post a video concentrating on the picking to the intro e.c.t please?

Explaining what strings to pick and what strings to hammer on?

    That would be fantastic,

    And your playing is excellent,

  • Hey, I really appreciate you showing me this song. Have a wonderful day, man!!

  • awesome tutorial! i've been looking for a simplified version played with a capo for a while now. thanks!

  • That's great! now u know! u're welcome man..

  • man thats very cool.. but somehow i cant get the riff.. could you make some tabs, cause i dont know which strings to plug or hammer on/off... =) your singing is great =)

  • i'm so sorry.. i really can't make tabs.. master the chords.. then u'll be fine.. which strings to hammer and all.. use ur feel yo!

  • ur really good man! why dont you sing the whole song?

    keep it up

  • I do have a video of this song.. check it out! ::P

  • Thanks a lot!!!!

I' ve been trying to play it all the night xDD

Sorry for my english. Thanks again!

  • you're really hot!! great at guitar!

  • Your guitar cries this song, it's beautiful. Great job.

  • Although I understand that there are many different ways to play the song you are playing with a capo and therefore in a completely different key making it possible for the song to be played using those chord variants. Mayer does not use a capo and the song is not played like that, I do however like your interpretation very much!! :)

  • nice one man, i really love the song, so this really helped me to learn it!!;)

  • Having trouble understanding the riffs. Any chance you could make a tab?

    On the otherhand, awesome cover.

  • Yeah man, 5 points for this simple playing. thank you for showing this one.

    adrian =)

  • Thankss.. !!

  • I like your voice ^-^

  • thanks!

  • its an epiphone les paul 100 isnt it?

i have the same one in red ;)

they dont make it in red anymore

  • love the song, love the way you play it, and wondering if you give lessons in real time. my lil bro is a free spirit.

  • of coz i give lessons la!$%@T

  • ur the only one that plays it like this... BUT I SO LOVE IT!!!!! Because I suck at the guitar but i can do this!

  • lol.. that's good.. i'm happy =)

  • nice job man, thanks

  • that really helped me out, thanks alot man!

and i love your tone! got any suggestions for bluesy tones?

  • holy crap. thats an epiphone? but it sound so nice! good job man

  • lol.. yes it is.. it sounds nice? thanks man!

  • Another great video. Again you are (unlike in most other tutorials where people are just speeding ahead) making it simple so everyone can follow. And for danklin24: Yes its played without a capo... but its also played with 3 guitar players. Its a simple way to play the song man. By the way is it a Tokai you are playing?

  • its an epiphone.. thanks.. i'll post more tutorials up then..=)

  • You're playing it very wrong. But your playing sounds really good anyway :)

  • =) smiles!

  • how do u play with out the capo??

  • Just play it with C#m, A, E... Chorus B,C#m,A..

  • you're right about the chord shapes, just not actual chords. The A minor shaped chord is actually C# minor, the F major shaped chord is actually A major, and the C major shaped chord is actually E major. The key is E major. =)

  • That would only confuse it further, plus he's told the right chord names above. Whenever I play anything capoed I would describe the chord shapes rather than their names. Just like in all the guitar mags.

  • ugh, you know this isnt played with a capo right?

  • Ugh, you know it's music, right? If he want to play with a capo, so what?

  • lol.. chill guys.. =p

  • So what? This says tutorial and he's teaching people a very incorrect way to play it. It still works..i guess, but he's making it harder than it has to be.

  • its not incorrect. its his own unique way of playing it. who says music has it be played the same way everytime?

  • sounds good but please be more specific

  • =P ok

  • It sounds great the way you play it,

could you maybe tab it..cause I can't really find out wich strings you strum when and what notes your exactly hammering on..

  • I really love this song how you play it, I'm trying to do what you're doing without using a capo and it sounds a lot like the bluesy stuff JM plays live. I think it's really nice how you did it and the criticism that's listed on here can really be ignored. Very nice style.

  • thanks so much .. =) keep watchin my vids

  • man, I'm glad you replied. I lost this and I couldn't find it to show my bro yesterday. haha, I'm so dumb. I forgot to favorite it. but now I will. Keep playing that awesome style.

  • thanks bro!

  • Dude i love your way of playing this awesome song, it sounds nice and it's easier to play while singing. I would like to know if you could hook me up with some tabs because i don't really get the way you play all the notes with only the 3 chords. I am not a pro i am really intermediate and i need some help. Keep up the good work.

  • Keep watching the video yooo.. i don't have any tabsss.. thankss yaa

  • its jus some chords to go along with you nobs........stop havin a go

  • im not a "nob"... i play 4 different instruments 3 self taught and i sing. im in a band and a few ensembles and im going to college for music. i was just sayin i wasnt tryin to be an asshole

  • hey not to sound like a prick... but those arent the real chords. its an a minor chord shape but the real chords relative to the capo are c sharp minor, then a major, then e major. also is that an epiphone les paul 100? thats the first guitar i've ever had

  • I think everyone is going nuts that its not the real chords, I know its not how he plays it... and yeah.. old guitar.. the pickups are all screwed now.. lol

  • what's ur guitar brand? x]

  • just buy the music its not a hard song, and this isnt how john plays it

  • capo.. .weird.

  • As commented on before, not the way John Mayer plays it - but I think you've done a great job of breaking it down to make it easier to play the basic song. Well done.

  • Thanks yooo..

  • Definitely not how Mayer plays it, but a gorgeous arrangement.

  • hey yo Ray....i didnt request the tut. but im glad ya posted it...awsome job man...i like your accoustic vers. of this song...its in my favs.....you rock man!!!

  • heyhey.. thanks man .. u rock too!
