After about 97 it seems Trey no longer went on the journey with the other three, he just kind of rides on top, not really listening and inadvertently squashing the the others.
as sad as that is, I agree, who knows maybe he got a little to full of himself (he was a fucking amazing guitarist) or maybe it was the H, well never know, but now he seems to care much more, even though he cant play like he used to, gotta be happy for what we have!
it's a proven fact that when improvising, especially in music, the closer you are to one another, the higher the level of commuication, thus, better playing.
can you cite your reference? i'm not disagreeing with you, i would tend to agree actually. just wondering how it's a "proven fact". was there a scientific study done on improvisational music?
yes, there has been studies on improvising & playing music in a group in general. It's like a conversation with someone, the closer you are to one another, the more connected you feel to that person.Music is the same way-especially when improvising, the closer you are to one another, the better you can communicate with each other. Phish has accually talked about this before onm the short documentary that came with he purchased version of undermind.
i was just curious if anyone else noticed a huge difference in the overall connectivity of the band once fishman inexplicably moved from the side of the stage to behind the band? i mean i saw some sick shows in the post hiatus and i am not a hater, but i think that when the band arranged in the circular pattern, it was more conducive to interaction and communication. what do you think, my phellows?
yeah i would agree. i think it corresponded to the change in their style of jamming and playing. but in my opinion, i dont think this was bad, just a change
yeah definantly. i like the way theyre jamming as well. it seems as theyre showcasing all of their jamming styles instead of focusing more on one type as they did in the past.
I don't know if communication would be stiffled by position on stage......it's not like they are farther apart. I tend to believe that the mind sees what the mind wants. If anything, I would bank more on the mental/physical aspect of a human being human. Just like anyone at their job, there are highs and lows and when you feel good at work, you perform better.
Mike, why dont you dress like this anymore? :( hahah

Is the girl right at the beginning up against the stage somebody's daughter or something ?
She looks no older than 14 ... and is SO into it. It's great.
