  • "Just like I brought Cliff here a few years ago, I'm going to try and revive Billy! ' I can Sing" dozens tell me so;who know's?"

  • what was the film called???

  • @the89boi "Play it cool" 1962.

Also had a young Ray Brooks playing one of his mates/band members.

Film is not bad and worth a watch if you have never seen it

  • Billy had the charisma and the style to charm the birds off the trees. My Army mate used to copy his hair style and pretend he Billy Fury, and while I played the records he would walk up and down our billet singing with a toilet brush as a mic, and only stopping by his girlfriend's photo to give her a kiss. Sadly though, Billy suffered from poor health which shortened his singing career.

  • WOW! never seen this before and..well WOW! I met the guy in the late 70s he was singing in Night clubs with a great group, My ex wife got his autograph and he had loads of time for his fans! Great guy, Great upload and thx!! Keep Rockin! Ian

  • RJFSHADOWMUSIC, this was from the film 'Play it Cool'.

  • TIMELESS.THANK YOU FOR SHARING.

  • Was this from a film?

  • This is great. I am not familiar with his music. But I am gonna be !!!

  • I just found out about Billy Fury recently and i can see why they call him the English Elvis they really look a lot alike and their mannerisms are almost the same but i'd have to say Fury copied Elvis because Elvis was around a few years before Billy Fury but i like them both.

  • as a young teenager my two heroes were elvis presley and billy fury, who both died too soon if only we could turn back time

  • "And I still sing better even now 50yrs later!!!" No this is the truth!!!!! He's dead. I still live.

  • heaven !

  • How can that girl resist him??

  • @MikeMuk1 thank you xx

  • Cool as fuck..Best British Rocker..

  • My sister married a guy who looked like BF I think this was his best song

  • OMG,,,my nana,,,told me about billy fury,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,seen a boy in Canada on vacation,,,who was like billy and tom jones all wrapped up in one kissable bunble,,,,andy probyn,,,,wow,,,,sings like billy

  • he had the edge on a lot of singers, dont forget he could write songs.but health held him back.u.ks elvis.

  • Great voice. It is also interesting to note the differing social interaction between the two genders - contrasted to the brash, and in your face culture of today. At 1:05 when Billy is wooing his girl, she glances away coyly. Today, many women normally seek to put the man ‘down’ if he were to approach them, in a social situation, with even the merest hint of confidence! Sad really. I preferred it then - when men (on the whole) treated women with respect and women treated men with dignity.

  • wish i wasn't born in '93. :(

  • this is my favorite by billy, he was the greatest !!!!!!!!, i hum or sing this song on a daily basis.

  • this is my favorite by billy, he was the greatest !!!!!!!!

  • this is my favorite by billy

  • Nice video and site

  • America had Elvis as Rock n Roll revolution.......The UK had Cliff Richard, the Beatles ( before mainstream record label) and the music world found Billy Fury......

  • cryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

    what? ++++++++++++++++++++

  • Love this, Billy Fury was great!

  • Billy Fury and his manager Larry Parnes went looking for a new backing group for Fury around 1960, after he got rid of his band The Blue Flames. One of the groups that "failed" that audition, mainly because Parnes asked them to do a song without their bass player, who was very inept at bass playing, were The Beatles. The bass player was Stu Sutcliffe. True story.

  • Awsome song from an awsome singer better than elvis

  • my uncle frank luvs this song

  • I can relate to the song very strongly because I met the most beautiful girl in my dream and can't stop thinking or dreaming about her. Thank you Billy for such a great song.

  • Great Music--Billy Fury tops

  • His hair is so cool!

  • This is really good High quality sound and video and I remember "That'll be the Day" and Butlins holiday camp around then. It's sad he was so overworked which his heart could not keep up with but never forgotten. Thanks for great file. I want to go out now and buy a Triumph Bonneville motorbike hehe :)

  • Hat* x

  • Who's the guy in the black hay playing the guitar??? zx

  • @MinnieMouseRocks

Get on board! You Have an excellent taste in music!

  • Billy Fury was a fantastic songwriter who had problems selling his songs, so started singing them himself, he wrote some great songs and sadly died in 1983he never wanted to be a singer, but i for one am glad nobody bought his music he had a fantastic talent that would have been lost...

  • from the film play it cool directed by micheal winner who in an interview said that biily was so shy the actors ignored him much to winners anger .

  • love it :-D wish i could of seen him, im 18 so dunno if he was even alive when i was born :-(

  • He reminds me very much of Elvis.

  • oh I LOVE you youtube Thank you for this!

  • remember seeing the film because 2 friends wanted to see it, she liked him he liked her but wanted me with them don't know why, but promised to make sure the lad I liked join us in our road the next night, the joy of being young in the early 60's, that wouldn't happen today.

  • My grandad told me all about music in the 60's and to be honast I can't get enough. I should have been born in the 50's - 60's instead of the 90's so I could listen to all this fabulous music. x

  • @MinnieMouseRoks I felt sad knowing that I am nearing 60 in age but after readng your comment, I felt rejunevated. What the heck! So what I am growing old. At least I grew up with Billy Fury, Helen Shapiro, Cilla Black, The Beatles, The Animals and all those great singers/groups of the '60's era. Thanks, young lady.

  • @erickonsim Agree with you-these performers played LIVE-just their talent. The British Invasion was magical!

  • @erickonsim

You were TOO OLD for the Macc Lads then, eh.

  • @bollockowithalob I have to confess that I never heard of The Macc Lads until I saw your comment. Sort of gave up on the music scene to concentrate my time and energy building my career and home when I reached my thirties (that was in the 80's). Now with much free time and the internet and whatnot, I am slowly drifting back and do enjoy some of the current people who make the music scene: Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum etc. As for The Macc Lads, I shall surely try them out.

  • @erickonsim

Where did you work anyway? A hearing aid factory - ?

  • @bollockowithalob I live in a South East Asian country (a former British colony) and was in a law enforcement agency for about 30 years. I retired 4 years ago. You asked about a hearing aid factory. Do I feel a bit of sarcasm there or are you trying to be funny? Do not worry, I do not feel offended. Anyway, I do not know if there is anyone manufacturing hearing aids in my country. Thanks for the exchange.

  • @erickonsim

Check out 'At the Indie Disco', by Divine Comedy; 'Action Man', by Hafdis Huld; 'The World Should Revolve Around Me', by Little Jackie; ('I'm) Throwing my arms around Paris', by Morrissey. For a golden oldie, how about 'Don't Drive Drunk', by Stevie Wonder?

All videos are available here, at YouTube.

    Happy listenin'.

  • @erickonsim i am nearly12 but i wish i could have grown up with people like buddy holly, billy fury and the beatles

  • @garner780 While you enjoy old songs, I believe you should also appreciate present-day artistes who are great talents. Artistes like Alicia Keys and Taylor Smith. Of course there are others but I have to really crack my head before I can name them.

  • @erickonsim "you should also appreciate present-day artistes" Why???

  • @paddy6062 Some of the present-day artistes are really good; they can compose wonderful songs, they have good voices and most of all, they can really, really sing. These two strike me: Alicia Keys and Taylor Swift. They have written very good songs which in the future might/would be termed classics. I believe today's young people should appreciate them before they and the artistes grow old. Well, its my opinion and you may beg to differ

  • @erickonsim got to say most of 2days chart music is rubbish auto tone, computerized beats, meaningless lyrics, just to give you a few rihanna, katy perry, gaga, black eyed peas, ndubz, chris brown, kesha, only good we have now is adele, bruno mars n the 2 who ya said

  • @bownkirk Thanks for your comment. You may have your point there. I, too, have my own opinions about the artistes you wrote so negatively about but I'd rather keep them to myself. I'm glad at least you have a few good things to say about those singers you mentioned. God bless!

  • @MinnieMouseRoks you still can listen to this musi

  • Yes, I long for the Sixties and it's music. I've been searching for this song. It's so lovely, and to this day I never forgot it. Just love it. And Billy. He had his own unique style.

  • @MinnieMouseRoks I was there and the music was great. We thought it would never end. It did in 1970... until now. what made rock and roll so good then, is there was thousands of little companies competing. Now that is back with the internet. See 200 of the very best in Big List, best of the net music. Time for a revolution in music (and all the arts) and it's happening.

  • @MinnieMouseRoks Same! I was born in 1996 and like The Shadows, Cliff Richard, Roy Orbison, Billy Fury, Marty Wilde etc. This songs a classic though!!! :P

  • @MinnieMouseRoks

    yes,this is music.

the years 50,60 and 70 are the best years.

    greetings from the netherlands.

  • Who is the guy in the black hat and playing guitar??? xx

  • great singer ,gone too soon.. i bought a cd on e bay of billys best hits,,,funny though the cd is nowhere as good sounding as billys songs on youtube,

  • @dgenr88 Try buying the original records if you can and play 'em on a decent system with a turntable. The sound just comes to life. Honest,

  • @dgenr88 This is an original Decca recording. You may have the inferior

K-Tel re-recordings-look at the CD small print. You have to get the original Decca/Universal recordings(Amazon has them) to hear Britain's best rock 'n roll singer.

  • good old ron ;o

  • A legend of Romantic Love Songs is BILLY FURY

  • The best English quiff ever.

  • Brilliant singer, brilliant song. he was unique, a fantastic voice, much better than Cliff. And such humility too, I always enjoyed listening to his interviews, they were far and few between. A very sad story, he fought his illness with courage. Bravo Billy

  • Billy was a star ..... period .... not the brash like so called stars of today who have the technology to overcome perfection. Ronald Wycherley was as you see him, even though in later years he suffered with his medical problems .... and I don't mean drugs.

There is a statue on Liverpool docks, his home city, commemoration his achievements, which were many in his day. Thanks for the memory Billy.

  • I always play Halfway To Paradise at my gigs and it people still love it. A guy at my work had a band and they used to back the big Amercican stars when they toured England-Johnny Cash, Gene Vincent etc and they would stay in a van on matresses, whilst the stars stayed in a nice hotel. But when they backed our own homegrown talent, Billy Fury, he always payed for them to stay in a hotel too. Must have been a great guy. I love this song, Billys vocal is so genuine. God Bless Billy.

  • Still sounds great

  • this fantastic love the song love the film

do you know if the film i got a horse is on

thats the other billy film he made

  • love this billy is the best

  • play it cool was the first cinema film i was taken to see followed my first ep record from the film i bought and still got.

  • @100procentKimberley

This truly is one of the great songs of the 60's with one of its great heartthrobs!

  • @100procentKimberley Oops, stretching it a bit aren't we?

  • he seems kinda like a british elvis but not as famous

  • That's a good way of putting it :-) But Billy was also a very good songwriter

  • But then nobody is as famous as Elvis!

  • he was our british elvis...be proud and lsten to all his songs...he wrote nearly all of them...elvisdidnt!!!but i am a big fan of elvis..gorgous guy and really did change the music scene for ever...but billy u rock

  • From the fun flick "Play It Cool." Thanks for posting.

  • @lockergr tosser

  • What should I toss, my football? A tosser just because I don't like it? Psh!

  • tosser

  • you tosser

  • Ya know, I bet Tim McGraw could remake this and sound pretty good. - Just a thought.

  • God, this takes me back, suits n slim -jim ties, Brylcreem, two-tone shoes if you were daring, coffee bars, Hasty Tasty, Gaumont, Broadway, Forum and Odeon Cinemas, Ice blue Wranglers black combs, Guards Ciggies, Toothpicks, girls who smelled of Silvakrin shampoo! (I know; "Poor old sod ... put him out of his misery!"

  • The former Ronald Wycherley. A huge star in the early 60s, but he never managed a UK no 1. I believe his biggest chart hit was Jealousy, but by a long way, his most famous recording was his version of Halfway To Paradise.

After the Beatles came along, his career went into decline. I think he was in the film That'll Be The Day, but he died quite suddenly in 1983.

  • January 28 1983
