  • i love the prospect drumline!

  • lemme put this out there...i am a PHS '07 graduate...THIS VIDEO IS AFTER A LIKE 16 HOUR DAY...THEY DO LIKE 4 PERFORMANCES, AND ON OCCASION HAVE A TIEBREAKER!! PROSPECT HIGH SCHOOL HAS WON AWARDS FOR BEST MARCHING BAND, DIRECTOR, DRUMLINE FOR PRETTY MUCH THE AMMOUNT OF YEARS I HAVE BEEN ALIVE!!!! PHS MARCHING BAND FOR LIFE!!

  • nicee they play spider ,my line plays spider :)

  • fucking snore

  • @Libsdontcareee are bored good sir??

  • i personally thing this drum line is damn good for a high school.

when the snares play it sounds pretty clean.

    where are the cymbal players?

  • @FierySockHat our drum line at school doesn't have cymbals i dont know why.

  • This HAS to be a warm-up

  • @locsawve6o4 in a sense yes...but they do this at EVERY home game, and AFTER every marching band competition they win

  • Get rid of three of the snares and put them on cymbal jeez..they suck to play but a drumline aint a drumline without cymbals

  • @rush12211 cymbals are fun as hell if you get some pads and learn how to spin.

  • @FierySockHat True my point was that spyder and long just arent the same without cymbals. and why prospect has no cymbals is beyond me

  • @rush12211 because we are that damn good we don't NEED symbols

  • @rush12211 suck my dick loser

  • @KOSISCOMIN4U hm. i guess no one can comment anymore without being trolled. seriously kid, that was last year. get over yourself.

  • @rush12211 i'm sorry what was last year?

  • How the fuck does this have 60000 views? I mean...really...

  • @xxaveragenobodyxx yes really...we are proud of our schools...obviously your drumline sucks which makes you think that just cause it does, you can make fun of other people to make yourself feel better

  • sounds like nothing but flams and grace notes.... attacks are bad, singles are forced.... dirty, embarrassingly bad.

  • @JessOnTheRun "you can hear allen murray's spider jungle beat in there...not as tight as suncoast used to play it, but not too bad either for a high school line this size. good job!" -JessOnTheRun (3 years ago)

Could you explain how the EXACT SAME performance is a "good job" three years ago, but today is "embarrassingly bad?" Or does "not too bad" mean the same thing as "embarrassingly bad?" If you would like your opinion to be taken seriously, perhaps it should be consistent.

  • @JessOnTheRun can you play like this?? i didn't think so...take your stupid opinions and shove them up your ass

  • yeah it is a little dirty, they just won a competition and were excited. usually they perform better. but this wasn't to impress anyone, it was for fun

  • I mean seriously everyone plays that Metalilica cadence the highschool i went to played it and now the college line i play for has a viaration of it dang!!

  • @Stellafosho Your college line takes Viagra for its wang?

  • one by metallica the beging

  • NO IT IS NOT

  • I HATE THEM

  • Yah I agree JessOnTheRun

  • @chippewao i think you sir are an idiot

  • its not a college drumline its prospect drumline and prospect alumni

  • Best drumline ever!

  • extremely dirty line... ehh, not impressed.

  • very good drumline

  • The men in Orange and Blue are from the U of I drumline, they're Prospect Alum.

  • yeah it is... that part of the cadence is called ONE

  • 0:05-0:23 is a rhythm from "one" by metallica, no?

  • megadeth is way better.

  • that was kinda dirty

  • That was kinda redundant.

  • that was kinda dirty

  • Buahaha, this is my school's drumline. XD

  • You mean in my last comment?

    XD is a face...

  • allthe way to 00:25 it soundz like the one by metallica

  • it is one

  • One of what? One of the most unoriginal cadences ever? Dirtiest? Most boring?

  • One. The fucking song by metallica itiot. I love to see you drum like this anyway.

  • "Itiot?" The acronym for "In The Interest Of Time?" You seem pretty defensive towards these guys. Are you on this drumline or something?

  • sorry to seem a bit abrasive but yeah, I am

  • What do you play? Are you in this video?

  • tenors. no this was a few years ago at U of I.

  • So you marched tenors this year. Cool. What show did you do?

  • besides BOA at U of I?

well we usually get invited to do superstate

  • Jball, I beg to differ...

  • Tom, if you keep stalking me around youtube, I'm gonna fuckin kill you

  • sounds like a drill but sounds well organizedso ill give you that

  • this is a high school drum line you dipshits

  • yeeeaa.... These guys are arright..... we play against them all the time... we woulda won if the compeitions werent so political...

  • sure....

  • yeah and if our teacher wasn't the best marching percussionist in the world

  • your fucking cadences sound like roll excercises..

that is a sucky college drumline i swear

    you suck asss

  • i have seen much worse college lines than this one... excluding huge, big division schools.... certainly schools like that with 30,000 people will bring along much cleaner lines.... but with that in mind, this isnt a college line at all... try high school.

  • yeah my nigga. these honkies dont be representing the beats. why aint there a blackie on they line? these crackas should be robbing liquor stores n shit.

  • i think you have this drumline mixed up with your black nigger slave owning cotton picking ass ghetto drumline.

  • cracka, you'll be payin me reparations if you keep at that jive ass talk. go ahead, call me a cotton picker -- all the way to the bank, sucka!!!

  • dude this is a fucking high school drum line!!! not a college drum line!

just cuz its on the U of I field doesnt mean its a college drum line

  • is that count off from the movie drumline WOW!!

  • Yeah see that big I in the middle of the field? That would be for U of I...Class of '94 rocks

  • is that @ U of Illinois?

  • yes

  • Our drumline rocks. :))

    xDD

  • from 0:12 to 0:19 or so... it reminds me of a metallica song. >_> not sure which one. but yeah, i think this is an awesome cadence.

  • One?

  • yes xD

  • wtf this candence rox.....

  • this cadence fucking blows

  • This year it was all about Glenbrook South, Prospect, and Wabansi. Hersey's show was ok...

  • there drum coordinator was on thecavaliers

  • this statement is partially right.

actually they have 2 main instructors.. both were cavies at one time, but the main instructor was actually the percussion caption for the cavaliers for many years.. they also have 2 or 3 other instructors that help out each year... and yes, each of them were also cavaliers.

  • haha making it so hard to beat

  • they sound clean....nice everyone was on point until the begining when the snare where off on the rim...but everyhing sounds great..

  • holy crap. i never paid the snares any mind. i didnt know they were using matched grip until i read some of these comments. and ive seen this vid over 50 times. that is kinda odd. why they would use that grip.

  • schaumburg is way better than mt.prospect...WAYYYY BETTER

  • hahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • nope sorry!

  • lol sorry Schaumburg but no chance. When you played at Fremd's home game last year you played a bach medley with six pictures.

but respect nonetheless you sounded pretty good.

im from Fremd and we cut 32 playing musiciains so we dont have to play in Prospect's class in competitions.

    or Lake Park's.

  • okay honestly if you knew anything bout drumming matched makes more since trad. only looks cool and its harder to get clean cause you use differnt muscles so all reality everyone should use matched but we dont cause trad cooler and it wont change. and if you dont beliveve me go talk to any upper drummer or do some research

  • I'm with basket on this it sounds like a hand full of diddle exercises. Then some spider then back to diddles.

  • you can hear allen murray's spider jungle beat in there...not as tight as suncoast used to play it, but not too bad either for a high school line this size. good job!

  • the start was metallica:D

  • yea basket, SCV used matched grip for one of their shows not too long ago. it don't matter as long as you play it clean! and they did!

  • Comment removed

  • Originality?

The selections you mentioned take up less than half the video. And the "Drumline the Movie tap off"? What???

    Matched Grip?

Are you serious about this? If you are, it shows how naive you really are. Need I go into what other groups (or drummers for that matter) use matched grip?

    Tenor alumni?

If you had any idea what you were talking about, you would know there is a Prospect alum currently on the snare line at Illinois.

  • Are you saying you know more than Murray Gusseck? You must REALLY enjoy putting yourself among elite company... How's the weather on your pedestal?

Also, did you post a video with your full name in the title? If so, you should be more careful when you make your racist comments - your name is on them!

  • what a hater respect other colored people

  • You guys are awesome! And to the nay sayers from Elk Grove...get some gumption and post your drumline...and something other than a pathetic indoor comp vid.

  • @Jmanlong if you are saying that about elk grove, illinois your a dumbass. those videos online are of the elk grove drumline in california..

  • LWE!

  • spyder and the illini cadence...two of my favorites. and that thing with the basses sounded like an electric wheelchair variation. good going guys

  • GO ELK GROVE!!!!

  • I agree wholeheartedly. Elk Grove consistently fields a better drumline. Plus, they are more supportive of cultural diversity in their extracurriculars.

  • Nice drums and awsome cadence.. now only if my school had as many drummers and something a girl can play other then Bells!

  • damnnn guys

love hearin you at every football game, and a few of our soccer games. pumps everyone up

    Prospect Knights!

  • does thiere drumline have a myspace ?

  • not that I know of, just the schools myspace

  • whats the url ?

  • "URL" is the acronym for "Uniform Resource Locater", ya heard my nigga?

  • tight line

  • My god, I have nightmares with this exact beat.

  • clean for the most part..pretty good

  • That's pretty cool that 2 Illini tenors got to play with their alma mater....good stuff guys.

  • very enlightening performance...i didnt agree so much with the tap basing of the lead drummer's forefront but i feel that you were just fantabulous!

  • Clean for the most part, some dirt here and there - normally not on anything technical but on the easy stuff. First minute or so doesn't even sound like a streetbeat - more just like exercises linked.

  • apparently i dont know shit about drumlines cuz i thought they sounded really good

  • not bad.. probly not the cleanest due to them being hyped out n excited after winning and sweeping the competition at the u of i contest... im sure if they were being more serious it could have sounded much better

  • DA first pice is Jam-u play it better Damn. @nd pice is Bonfire dont put dat added part in again it sound nasty. I like you all tho.

  • basses need more runs, the tenor at the end is not really confident, and its relatively easy music. nice visuals and an interesting tenor piece.

  • garbage

  • Eh...

  • bag

  • Bag

  • I have heard one part, but I dunno if the other part (that starts in 1:11) is in Spyder. Good cadence, well played. 4 out of 5 due to the sound. Good job!

  • i liked that jmu tap off you did

  • heard that bass part sumwhere before

  • ay you guys are pretty bad ass . clean line tho !

  • you guys are aight

  • its rly kool, but ive seen better

  • haha spyder...we played that

  • fuk ur drummer will beat us in a flash

  • awesome...your drums would prolly kick our ass in a drum off...

  • Spyder rocks my face off. *sypder runs through my head*

  • you guys ripp off so many cadences. . .shame shame. .

  • "so many"? by my count, the only cadence that they 'ripped off' is U of I's "Long", and even then, there's two U of I guys playing in this tenorline!

  • not so bad. like the snare parts, and is that one by metallica at the beginning? nice, nice.

  • Wowwww good playing :O its very nice ! great job

  • these niggas is whack

  • i been preachin yo rhetoric fo months nigga, ya heard?

  • they are dirty but they have technique and their diddles are solid.

  • they are dirty but they have technique and their diddles are solid.

  • yo my nigga why you spittin salt on these por white kids man ..... they got chops and is yall better than them post some of your videos up and shown them how its done ......

  • cadences?

  • yeah dude mettalica?;-)

  • all this criticism and i bet all these people givin the flak dont come from lines that are half as good. i'll just say that you guys rock, probably one of the finest high school drumlines in the country. props.

  • haha the part right after the metallica part is the second part of another cadence called spyder...but once the tenors do their lick its over.

  • Suncoast?

  • ha i saw hoff like 18 times

  • That was really nice, I think the comments here have been pretty right on. There are some places that could have been cleaner, but it was nice overall. I enjoyed it, and now I miss being in Marching Band :(

  • Very nice. My only complaint is the sixs on the basses need to be more "even". like someone said... snares could use some work... but other than that... great job.

oh... and for the moran called that boring... you're dumb. drumming isnt about stick tricks... a lot of people ONLY practice stick tricks... and thats really gay. good beats and grooves are great... with 1 or 2 tricks... not one every 2 seconds

  • metallica?

  • Fitty cent is better.

  • nah bro, that intro is metallica - one.

  • kinda dirty but also look at the size of the line.

  • BORING!

  • how can you think this is boring? if you ever see a drumline in real life, then you'd understand how cool it is. how in sync they are...just amazing.

  • Um yah, I'm in the marching band, I'm not retarded.

  • you guys have the easier parts of these cadences dirty...why? how much of this material is actually yours? and are those folks in the blue and orange from the marching illini? well, long could have sounded betta....got dirty with the snares at the end...and if you wanna be good, be ready for the harsh commenting...if you guys are this good, you most likely practice a lot...obvioulsy you guys have decent chops, so there is no way the dirty spots should be dirty...

  • I'd guess that about %12 of these guys are in college.

  • Our tenors where never always perfect... usually it's a toss up between the snares and the basses... :)
