  • A superbly expressive player who i've admired since the late 1970s --Jim always reminds me of Eric Gale & Cornell Dupree so much.

I think it's to do with the way he bends the strings.

  • Cheap Chinese £300 guitar. £1,000,000 guitarist. Just bought his new album with Henry Lowther and playing better than ever. Keep on Jim.

  • First time I saw Jim was at the Nairn Jazz Festival maybe 10 years ago,and he blew us all away, his approach is refreshingly different and always swings.

    Thanks for posting this.

  • I have NEVER seen any guitarist play with his thumb this well.. it's incredible!

  • He told me (when I asked) that he's never really been into music theory.

Playing is instinctive, he said. Perhaps the best of all are like that -- George Benson, Wes Montgomery. Of course George learned a lot from Wes. Players who are scale oriented, like Pat Martino, don't seem as accessible and melodic. Their lines can seem robotic, unlike Jim's organic and natural phrases.

  • Well...amazing...thanks for this...

  • Nice one Jim!....From Perth, Western Australia
