I'd love to see your scanner in Active Scanning, WX is nice but I'm trying to get a general Idea of how they work etc. I'm thinking about buying one as an upgrade to my current BCT-8
There are some scattered beach communities equipped with sirens and a few small towns in Central Florida but none of the major metro areas have sirens.
I live In Norway,and I promise you we can hear the sirens,we have them placed on every public schoolbuilding and firedeptbuildings and other public buildings like hospitals and areas where people are gathered like malls ,..It`s a good thing to have, radios and tvs are turned off during night usually or placed in other rooms than where u sleep,. sirens are a must!!
why dont they have the sirens?? bet disney has a finger in this,.. with all storms hiting the penisula it would scare the tourists off,.. was in fl during the 05 hurricane season 4 storms on 2 weeks and 2 tornadoes,but we heard no sirens ,.. only weather channels warnings about possible storms in the orlando area
backgam... The sirens that are in Citrus County are not for tornadoes. They are used in conjunction with the nuclear power plant in Crystal River. These sirens are used for nuclear emergencies. They are also in Hernando, North Pasco, Levy, and Sumter Counties.
dont think im stupid or anything but whats nuclear ive seen the hils have eyes 1 and at the begining they said nuclear or sumthing and weres the sound?

Why does Flordia need a statewide tornado drill they have like 5 tornadoes a year and they dont hit anything.

It would be best o have the NOAA radio because you can hear it right in your home and you cant hear the siren when you are sleep.
