@IsaacNorman Wow. DOES THIS LOOK LIKE SONIC WORLDS TO YOU? Of course it's not Sonic Worlds! For one thing, it's in 640x480, the slope detection at 0:40-0:50 is SERIOUSLY off, Sonic is able to go through that wall at 1:26 (which is bad programming on my part), and lastly: SONIC WORLDS CAME OUT AFTER I MADE THIS GAME (this was made in 2006 and posted in 2007). So don't assume anything.
@Buizeru421 Ok well then maybe you did make it. It just looks so close to id that or the 360 movement engine I saw for download on sfghq a while back made by, uh, I forgot his name. lol
ummm some help please? if i make a slanted platform, sonic doesnt walk on top of it like he does in your video.... he walks on top in a straight line where it was cropped...help?
Hey nice game. As a suggestion, i think the levels should be longer, with more hazards. I dont know if you can do that or not, i'm not familiar with this engine :/
You have to make an "Always" condition, and make the event "center screen position 0,0 from [your object]" Then the screen should scroll every which way. Remember to make the screen bigger too :D

No offense, but read the other comments first! ^_^

I really wish I could, but my old computer is so stupid that I must delete frames for the game to open. I scrapped this project in favour for another one called "Sonic EX". It's made on the other sleeker and more powerful computer, and it uses the Sonic Worlds Engine.
It looks pretty good, but I think it still has quite a ways to go. Fore instance the sign at the end of the first level and the red and yellow X door that is in the second. I'm sorry but they look quite dodgey.
Also, I think the level design could use some work. It looks like your code is pretty solid though. To me this looks like what a Sonic game might have looked like in mid beta.
I however scrapped this one when I learned about sonic worlds and played sonic XG. Now I'm working on a game called Sonic EX. I'm using sonic worlds for the first time, and level design has increased (along with the size of the levels.) I'll probably have a video about it soon.
Thank you very much. It uses the 8 Direction 360 degree movement. However, Snow Zone is probably the worst designed stages in the game. I'll probably make another video with one of the better designed stages.
example, i have a sonic sprite, and its made so that when i press the left arrow, it goes to the moving animation, but when it stops on the ground, it keeps fickering back and forth
OH!!! Yes, ive had that problem so many times. Make sure that the camera is only centered on ONE object. So don't have 2 events with "center window position frame (0,0) from whatever object". If you want the window not to flicker, but still leave the other position for later, put one of the camera events in a group and turn it off in the beggining of the frame.
it takes sensors and stuff. the only thing i did different was that i used 8 directions. you must create an active object and assign it different alterable values (eg: on the floor, X and Y pos, speed, acceleration). It takes a while.
4 weeks later I am sussesfull in making sonic do loops! i dint use 8 directions as u did but based the movemnt entirly on x,y cornates and alterable variables. the sensor susggestion came in handy for running up walls and wall jumping. i thank you my friend for the inspiration.
You used sonic worlds. So technically, you did not make the engine. Don't try to steal this, I know how it works well!

@Buizeru421 Alright, sorry for the misunderstanding. It looks so similar, and since I hate people who steal and claim it's theirs, I get pissed.

You made it? can you tell me some things? 'Cause I'm doing one, and i'm lost X_X

That is because you are using default platform movement probably. Head over to SFGHQ and check out some of the 360 tutorial code.
(or be lazy and download Sonic Worlds)
also, why does EVERYONE ask for help on this video?

oh ok thanks... oh and for ur question its probably because you look like u know what your doing

Cool video. How do I get the lives (or counters) stay in game window when I move my character.
The frame is big and I have to use scroll.
Can you help me?
supertahi 2 years ago
Goto the properties of the lives and goto the runtime (red arrow). Uncheck follow the frame. Good luck.

Wow, impresive engine :)
Would you mind telling me how you did the loops? It seemed pretty fluid. Maybe add some background layers for authenticity.
Overall, excellent work!

While the foreground choices are a bit ugly, the engine and level design look hella fun. I'm subscribing to you.
scratch799 3 years ago 5
Why, thank you! And yeah, the foreground choices were limited; i didn't have internet when i was making this game.
Buizeru421 3 years ago
Well, at least try to fix it up, because the top of those loopdeloops and the empty hills are kinda painful to look at.
scratch799 3 years ago
lulz, the theme and forground look like what happens when a glitch throws the game mental style (no offence)

how do i make score stay in top right corner
rstaekwando 3 years ago
IF you have mmf2
goto the runtime options for the score and uncheck "follow the frame"
IF you have mmf1:
I forgot... but when you see an option called follow the frame UNCHECK it

where did you get the sonic sprites or did you just google it

PLease Help!!
Tolliacus 3 years ago
what events do you have for the character?
Buizeru421 3 years ago
when i use my sprites with the platform movement, it just keeps switching from its stop stage to moving stage
rstaekwando 3 years ago
uhh...
what exactly do you mean? is it like flashing back and forth between your character and another part of the stage?

if ur using moving clips on one frame remember to put stop(); on the frame. i might be thinking of something u already knew but w/e
