  • What fresh hell is this?

  • @stevieb89,It's called chops and showmanship.

  • DOUBLE BASS PLAYER FOREVER!

  • Am i the only wondering how the hell the bass player is playing what he's playing while doing what he's doing

  • That is funny!!!!

  • this could be from Bioshock

  • I don't know who did what with this but it is a great piece of time. I know I've seen this print both ways, some have the bass player and people positions reversed, as recorded for showing from print sometimes. Love the girl who swings left to right rear of the bassist. Truly and enjoyable placement however they made this. This was "heavy" for it's day I think. Some have posted roots of metal, could be. I can watch this over and over. A "swing" piece of history. Thanks for posting.

  • What's the bass player on ? Can you score some for me ?

  • that korean drummer guy would easily fit in.

  • LOL @ the guy slappin' da bass

  • Cantina Band!

  • The girls shoulders are showing! The kids are out of control.

  • Tidig hårdrock.

  • crack

  • Alltid undrat hur man gjorde super mario musiken :D

  • 1:48 is pure gold.

  • yeh that is hilarious, though he starts to get realy crazy at about' 1:13 =D

  • I demand a grindcore version! á la Bert 'n Ernie.

  • That guy would fit in great in a rockabilly band. :D

  • He should be in a rock band

  • dude, he just spanked that bass. literally. im not gonna lie, i lol'd. badass tune!

  • Any idea of the size if the bass? It 's huge! Looks bigger than 4/4 so... 6/4 maybe?

  • I think that Reg Kehoe low growth, therefore and the contrabass seems huge!))

  • Ahh, i think you're right. I didn't think of it like that. :P Since I'm >185cm tall it's weird to think of a bass that big in comparison. :P

  • any idea of the size of the bass player maybe?

  • He's shorter than all of the girls so I think 160cm is a fair guess. :P

  • Spank it BASS PLAYER, SPANK IT!

  • No doubt, he was on drugs.

  • I love that bassist.

    spank that bass!

  • OK, seriously, what is UP with the bass player? And they say people didn't do drugs in the 40's...

  • This outfit was from Lancaster, PA - Amish country. Close study of these young ladies kinda' hints at that. Not in a bad way at all, however. You can see a kind of wholesomeness there that one would expect to be more or less absent in gals from a larger, rough and tumble city. Definitely girls-next-door or the next farm over.

  • the marimbas are backwards?

  • never mind the film is flipped.

  • It's odd to me that in the debate over who created the music video these old soundies are completely ignored. I've seen some that were even somewhat conceptual--not merely performances, but little experimental films. Oh, and that bassist definitely looks like he's straight out of "Reefer Madness!"

  • I think he's got a touch of the madness... You could go back to the first sound pictures. They put music to images from the start, whether a film of a band or cartoon animals romping about to music. But I think the "music video" should be considered as a short film used much like the hit single was used, to sell a band and its music. Sure, they did this back then, but not with the promotional push we saw in the 1980s. I remember saturation of Madonna's "Lucky Star"...

  • Christ, white people...

  • ha ha troll......that is funny!!

  • legendary. the first to sip of the blessed chalice of rock & roll, no doubt.

  • I'm not sure but it sounds like there's a double bass being played on that?

  • плёнку другой стороной поставили....зеркальное отражение как будто!

  • that bass player is nuttier than a squirrel turd!

  • haha these are my kinda people ^_^

  • any idea what the bassist's name is?

  • His name was Frank DeNunzio.

  • the bassist is toatally loking on the bass. dank skills

  • now we can all see the true roots of all metal music LOL

  • They were a staple at Hershey Park in the 30s and 40s. God love 'em.

  • the origins of heavy metal?

  • They are playing "A Study In Brown", composed by Larry Clinton in 1936 or 1937 and published by Lincoln Music. The stock arrangement for big band could be purchased at many music stores and consisted of a violin part, 3 trumpets, 2 bones, piano, bass, drums, guitar and 4 saxes (AATB). Many elements of the stock chart are here but of course what we're listening to has been completely re-arranged. Neat!

  • The bass player is jamming out to Hammer Smashed Face, I think.

  • That guy was the first headbanger

  • cool info here... includes comment from one of the band members daughter's.

  • reg is the malmsteen of the marimba!!!!

  • I could watch this for days on end!

  • this is the greatest thing i have ever seen in my life

  • so thats why its backwards. ohhhhhhhh!

  • Gene Simmons, Sr.? This cat is COOL, man!

  • This video is so beyond cool. I want to party with the bass player. Heck invite the babes too.

  • why are they all playing left-handed?

  • They're playing left-handed because the film was printed backwards for rear projection on a screen inside a Panoram, an early video jukebox.

  • Someone please tell the bass player to switch to decaf next time.

  • lol

  • i love the 3 girls in the back dancing
