  • BJS gonna be playing this Friday Cain's Ballroom ! Cant wait to see my old friend.

  • 14 people disliked this video? WTF?! I think they should be all grouped together so we can read their comments; why are they not?

  • Love this song but hate this version. Big and Rich managed to take a golden oldie written by a legend and turn it into a piece of pop shit.

  • big n rich fucked it up, they suck, check out CORY MORROW'S version.

  • @wheelmanstan

    now thats country. F*ck B n' R

  • Love this song. Everyone is going to live forever, the only question is where. Please make sure you know where you will be living forever in Eternity before it is too late. Jesus is the way.

  • started hearing about u from jackson taylor how did i ever miss this great music thanks to you both

  • Billy Joe Shaver will be appearing at The Adelphia Music Hall at The Galley Restaurant.. If you're in Ohio, West Virginia, western PA, eastern KY - or beyond! - you should check this out on Friday, Dec. 3. Tickets and info @ theadelphia [dot] com!

  • i hope he lives for ever :)))

  • I'm only sixteen, and this is by far my favorite song of all time. I thank my dad for introducing me to such great music. It's more meaningful than most of the songs these days. Billy Joe really is a true legend.

  • love billy, but big an rich? C'mon!

  • 12 people won't live forever

  • @ChetR THIS, so much. I give Big N Rich credit for recognizing a legend, but arrogant John Rich has to make it all about him and fuck it up. Why can't we find an original version and post here? Head and shoulders above this one.

  • Hey jakeat3web.... the lyrics are " please try to raise your children right" ..what an ugly thing to say.. unless you've walked in someone else's shoes, you have no right to think you can go there.. his son died of an overdose, yes.. but he didn't give it to him... he was an adult and one hell of a guitar player, but he made his own decision .. what did Billy do, when he got the news just before going onstage , he walked out there and did it anyway... I agree with LJB .. shame, shame shame..

  • Yes Billy, raise your children right. LOL

  • @jakeat3web ...? What prompts people leave such stupid remarks? Shame, shame, shame on the person who says "LOL" about this song or the family.

  • @jakeat3web the word is TRY

  • @jakeat3web I figured you were from England or Canada, that's where all the judgemental do nothing, stay away from the controversy freaks now are.The USA is still in the fight trying to make the world better, not resigned to the one- world atheistic culture that Stalin , Mao-tse-Tung,or even BF Skinner envisioned."Boy,that was good!" His died in his thirties, would you say the same about Jimi Hendrix's parent-died at 27- or Van Gough's parents's(people seem to forget he committed suicide,

  • Ahhhh Why cant I find the original music video??? I have on vhs but no vcr... I love that one..PLEASE someone post it and send to me

  • Billly Joe keeping up with the traditional Texas attitude as a Texas artist. Screw the rest....if you don't understand this song and venue, then you aren't from Texas. Down here, we celebrate good music and lyrics, regardless of origin.

  • @CadJack2005 hahha very well said man,I am not from Texas....I am from Canada, but your state has produced some verey very talented artists,Texas has amazing musical talent,And it is very accepting of great writing as far as songs are concerned.Props.

  • I was hip to Billy Joe long before Duvall.

  • @KurtMoss Nope in fact I was not aware nor do I care the Robert duval ever sang anything this is real country music not pop crap they call country today Red necks we all may be but the fact is every one and there brother are trying hard to be just like us Ha I'd say your the one out of the loop

  • Duval is cool fuck yall

  • This is as close as Big and Dick will get to real music.....

  • why the FUCK did Bille Joe Shaver do a song with Big n Rich?

  • I'd have to say that Big 'N' Rich have done some incredible songs together, and some of John Rich's solo work is also incredible. However, once in a while, they lend their incredible vocal harmonies to some unforgettable songs, a fine example of which is featured here, with Billy Joe Shaver holding forth on vocals. Thanks to all three men for recording this unforgettable song. I'd also like to wish an RIP to Billy's son, Eddy, and for Billy himself, along with BNR, to sing this song live for me.

  • I love this song really 00 LEGEND BILLY ^ ^

  • i miss the lil shaver yet know we will all be together in heaven. this is like a foreshadowing to me of what it will be like for us. thank you. nancy

  • Robert Duvall covered a tiny piece of this song in Crazy Heart. That was my favorite part of the movie. This song is that beautiful.. :)

  • LOVE this song and all of the video!

  • I think the Grascals would sound good doing melody to this song with Billy. Why put Big N Rich in this song? :( :(

  • Don't get more authentic country than Billy Joe Shaver

  • Still alive? Billy Joe just got off for shooting a man in the face! Hell yes, he's still alive and still a bad ass. It's tragic that most people don't realize who their country idols look(ed) up to.

  • Speaking for myself, what I love about this song is one the words of course & the meaning. I don't about everybody else but that's my opinion.

  • you can tell whos using autotune and whos really singing. billy joe came from the generation where people could really sing and do so about real things. now all nashville is, is a bunch of shit.

  • - I guess Big and Rich sang harmony on this recording. The video was shot in Vista, California. Billy Joe is the real deal, see him if you can.

  • Please, can you send to my mail anpouch@seznam.cz song

I'm just an old chunk of coal from the same album?

If you want to send some song from me (and if I got

this song), type something. Thank you very much, František Dobrota.

  • People from Texas should stay in Texas.

  • @phaedres seems everyone is coming here actually, Austin is overrun with Califoreigners and New Yorkuhs, hell even Bush was an imported yankee. Maybe it's y'all that should just stay the hell outta Texas

  • I remember when a "red neck" was someone who worked from before sunup to after sundown out in the fields tryin' to feed his family and praying while he did it. Back before it meant ignorant, loudmouthed drunken bigots. Billy Joe is cool and so are the dudes that helped get him a larger audience.

  • Yep,that's your little opinion.

  • no shit.

  • trully a country music legend. and he used to be a high tempered one at that. lol godbless. i miss the old days. but i guess if it wasnt for new days then how could we look back at the old days.?????????????

  • Great song for the day by a Texas Legend!

  • just awsome!!!!

  • Big and Rich have such a great vocal blend in this song they really add to it.

  • @MetalSkater: Yeah, this guy is great, still bringing it true and old school like the music I was raised on.....I've since grown up and started listening to bands like Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, and Muse. But this guy along with a handful of others are some of my favorites!!! Definatly check out some old Hank Williams Sr. and Johnny Cash.

  • We're all going to live forever ... that's why we must find The Truth, The Light, and The Way during our time on earth.

  • I loved this song when I first heard it. I also think it was pretty cool that Big & Rich were featured singing the song's chorus in the video. However, I don't know what to say about "Tramp On Your Street," other than I heard George Jones' version of it a few years ago, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

  • Agree with you Lucas, B & R need him worse than he needs them, Just my opinion as well. I do not know much about them, but BJS has lived his lyrics.

  • AMEN

  • We had this song accompany a video at my husbands funeral who passed away June 6. Fit him to a T. He loved Billy Joe. We do too.

  • i'm a huge freakin metalhead but this song rules

  • @metalskater9 if you like that song' live forever" I think you would really like "tramp on your street" billy joe shaver" he not only writes the songs he lives them

  • My uncle died back in 2000 and they played this song at his funeral and everytime i hear it i get goosebumps

  • Who are the 2 "cowboys" singing with Billy Joe?

  • gotta love billy joe.

  • Beautiful!

  • Just saw the movie Crazy Heart so I wanted to watch this video. Its great! I'm glad Robert Duvall mentioned it.

  • squidbillies are funny ~.0

  • well must be he saw something in Big and Rich or he wouldn't have them in his video.

  • Closed minded weenies. Whats wrong with big and rich? So there not the kind of music you're used to, that doen't make them bad people! There great singers, Big Kenny preaches love and understanding (something yall could stand to learn) and John Rich writes so many great country songs. Everyone thinks of save a horse but what about the ton of other great stuff they have done and sung???

  • Did this song with a friend of mine at several shows. It still sends a shiver up my spine and puts a tear in my eye. Billy Joe is certainly a country music icon. Thanks for the video.

  • The first time i heard this song was when i was 14. My dad called me and my mom and sisters into the living room to listen to it. He dedicated this song to my mom. He was diagnosed with cancer in 1997 and passed away jan 3 2010. He this song is so touching and has a lot of meaning in it and to my family. May you RIP daddy! We love you! He will live forever!

  • im with jimcashfan right on.

  • shot a man in the back of the neck

  • Beautiful song and great video. It fills my heart with joy and hope. I love it!

  • My granpa was his bass player, bob brown... but to bad he died in 2005

  • I am not a fan of country music, but I heard this song at work and was frozen in place. This song is so haunting, it just stays with me.

  • add to: Facebook: Elect Billy Joe Shaver to the Country Music Hall of Fame!

  • the original is the best

  • Ugh, love Billy but Big n Rich can go fuck themselves up their garbage pop country asses.

  • @JimCashFan hey go fuck yourself not all of them are like that asshole

  • @JimCashFan I'm with ya!

  • @JimCashFan damn bro I couldnt have put it better myself, theyd fit better with justin beiber than some true musical greatness like BJS

  • @JimCashFan Damn straight brother.

  • @JimCashFan

    obviously billy likes them

  • @JimCashFan HELL YEAH!! Big & Dick should change the name of their crappy song "Comin To Your City" to "Our Music's Really Shitty."

  • @JimCashFan I think you got yourself mixed up, buddy. You mean Sugarland can shove their garbage pop country up their asses, Big N Rich sure as hell ain't outlaw country or the good ole' stuff, but they're pretty good. IMO.

  • @JimCashFan

    Soooo true

  • About the best advice in any lyric - live forever NOW. Thanks, Billy Joe!

  • Is that john rich?

  • And please give there song "Silver wings of time" - that's very forceful song, I think one of BJS bests.

  • He had a top-selling album in '94. Damn good stuff.

  • Please, give there original version of this song from album "Tramp on your street" (1993). Thank you. Shaver forever!

  • Baddass!!!!!

  • He is still very much alive and did a show in Austin, TX last Friday night. He is just absolutely fantastic.

  • @dodiec Well yeah, just see the name of this song!

  • He is still alive as far as i know!!

  • @UniqueFreakinEarth "was"? dude, he's still alive ! unless you know something I don't ...

  • Comment removed

  • he's not dead!

  • One thing's for certain...this SONG will live forever. BJS you ROCK!

  • I love this song! PEACE!

  • totally love the song...thank you....

  • check out billy joe shaver singing "if you don't love jesus go to hell" on my channel.

  • I like the simple version in the extras of The Wendell Baker Story best.

  • I saw Billy Joe at Eddies Attic the other night, he was awesome. His opening act, Ken Will Morton, was incredible too. Great show!

  • Big and Rich have paid tribute to Billy Joe many times.

Why do people have to denigrate others for no apparent reason? You need to feel Billy Joe's words . When you get it, you'll be much happier.

    Peace

  • I personally don't like Big and Rich. I don't think their music is "country", like most artists that country radio plays these days. That said, I have no problem with them paying tribute to a legend...

  • am going to live forever

  • How many times has BJS recorded this song? Several. So what if he asked B&R to be in it? Obviously he thought enough of them to ask them to help him out. I'll take Billy Joe's opinion on musicians over any of you on here.

  • Big & Rich ought to be kissing this guy's feet, not taking a prominent spot in the video.

  • It is a great song, but it can't touch on the loss of his son, due in part that his son helped him write it. This song is one of my all time favorites.

  • For a son to precede his father is a tragedy in itself, I suspect this song touches on his loss.

  • love the song, even with Big and Richj, i love the Freak Parade

  • Billy Joe is always for real..

big and Rich wanted to honor him. Guess 8th of November is overproduced.

Get a grip. Try to feel the heart of the music.

Old five and dimer like me.

  • I might have posted in this comment thread already, but I don't mind repeating myself.

This version is so slicked-down and overproduced that it almost ruins the whole song. And Big & Rich's Shaver-less outro is horrible.

That being said, the song itself is one of the best folk songs ever written, period. It's virtually flawless. The version on Unshaven can almost reduce me, a grown-ass man, to tears. Listen to that version instead of this, I beg you.

  • check out my utube page for a great version of 'love ya till the cows come home.-Billy Joe and Eddy

  • Amen brother, couldn't of said it any better. A typical slick "Trashville" production.

  • Big and Rich need to go far far away. And everyone knows the good stuff comes from Austin.

  • man, i so agree with you and i live in trashville. it may be dubbed "music city" but it ain't got s*** on Austin...
