  • The guitar solo is definitely not one of those cookie cutter solos with the same pattern as 3 guitar solos people copy from Slash. It's a good original solo.

  • One of the best prog songs I've heard in a while. Not quite on a Dream Theater level, but I really like this.

  • There's nothing you can say to me to make things how they used to be again / I have built a better life without your lies / And I will not be broken... such good lyrics.

  • Nick is pimp. Ray is amazingly perfect with their sound. This is one of my favorite bands ever.

  • This band is too underrated in a Prog scene, thumb up if you agree...

  • LOL Did anyone else think the beginning of this vid was a tribute to Rush's Stick it Out video with the dude tied to the chair? I know that the bass player is a Rush fan.

  • @RCAvhstape ya he is... im a big fan of Geddy Lee too :) discovered this band looking up bass covers of Rush's songs and saw heir amazing bassist

  • My face is melted. Oh my God help me!

  • those who voted no go are blozo!!!!!! this band is pretty awsome

  • who influences who ? Redemption or Oficina g3 ?????

  • This band is flipping incredable! ...and I love the fact they have George Lopez on lead vocals! lol

  • @darksphynx76 LOL!!!

  • Any1 has tabs for guitar? Damn, I love this song and I can't play it from hear. (too fast to recognise all notes:()

  • @stghunt they rock 7 string axes the bassist has a 6 string. i looked too :( best bet is to just pop ur axe into drop a and start trying different sweeps cuz i kno most of this is major/minor apeggios. u can always play ur mp3 format threw vlc and slow it down so u can hear it better. good luck buddy.

  • I'm wondering why they use the exact same keyboard sound as Dream Theater?

  • @IAmSuperPerfect they open for dream theatre

  • @i1HITurMom Hey thanks for the insight on this... YAH!! I didn';t know this... DOH!!!!

    YA MORON!!!

  • @IAmSuperPerfect sorry I didn't realize that you were super perfect before...

  • I don't know what's happening in the music world, but this short hair thing is really ridiculous!! It is much more than just playing music, it is also showmanship and looking like a regular old normal "JOE" is NOT cool! It makes me care less about watching you even though your music is good. But I will say that you really are an extension (if you will) of Dream Theatre. All you would need to do is hire their lead singer and I would never know it was a different band!

    You need to differentiate!

  • @TheIntelligentView WTF..LET THE MUSIC DO THE TALKING!! True talent doesn't come from hair it comes from the heart!! BTW ray gew his hair back!

  • @lubear2003 Playing music on stage is not just about playing good... it is about the showmanship also! Otherwise it is boring. And it isn't just hair... it's just a part of the show and what you do in that show that will get people back out to see you. Also, I can't stand bands that just stand there like a totem-pole. I could have stayed home and listened to my stereo! I AM glad to hear he grew his hair back... but what about the guitarist who stands on the right? He looks like my DAD!! Wow...

  • It was Nov 2008 that Nick van Dyk was diagnosed. He's much better now. Wish him good luck with this...

  • this is my least favourite song from the origins of run haha, im surprised they chose this one for a video. on a whole, i thought that the origins of ruins was a great album, anyone who likes this song will absolutely LOVE the album, and you might love the album if you dont like this song.

check them out, give them more support, and the credit they deserve!

  • the Origins Of Ruin cd IS one of the finest moments ever- prog metal , metal , whatever!!! and this song is a wonder to me. all Redemption cds featuring Ray Alder are utterly compelling, the songwriting and expression are so convincing.

  • Ray was a major inspiration to me in my youth when i began singing...he still has that raw emotion..

  • I just learned that Nick Van Dyk was recently diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a particularly bad form of blood cancer which is generally considered incurable and which has a five-year survival rate of 34%.

    Holy shit! :( :( :(

  • I don't understand how anyone can think the lyrics are lame, even if some of the vocal comments are bad enough lol. The lyrics are very generally very emotional and heartfelt, and Nick obviously has a heart. Don't take it personal anyone :-) I love this band so much in every way.

  • I think that some people just are not used to these types of lyrics. Usually its just Dungens and Dragons for these bands. Personaly I like these lyrics a lot more

  • @kagruakarate With prog metal, the whole Dungeons-&-Dragons-lyrics pattern seems to dissolve. I've yet to come across a prog. band that did that. You see that a lot in power metal though xP

  • Despite being a prog band, I can hear dave mustaine's influence on the guitarist. Interesting.

  • This is my first time listening to them and I'm likin this song.

  • "scarred" is a great song, go see it

  • sorry, sir, but i cannot possible manage to undertand what 'bleed me dry' would mean. Won't ye help me see it?

  • @Chobogasorra

Just listen to it, and see what you can come up with. The meaning to a song is different for everybody.

  • Sean Andrews is my bass teacher, no lie. He taught me this tapping riff from there new CD

  • awesome!!!!

    great band and great song

i love this band!!!! i'm a new fan

  • you're the first person i've ever known of who doesn't like Ray Alder.

  • the lyrics are kind of lame, but his voice isn't that bad, it's got good rhythm and melody.

  • Comment removed

  • awesome song from one of the best progressive metal band...

  • I've been watching sean andrew's videos for a long time, but I've never actually watched any from redemption. Great band, Ill look for it better.

  • first time i hear this band play^^

    great band!

    love the bass lines!!!!!!!!

    im a new fan =D

  • wow- thanx andyclutts- i didnt know that bour Nick Van Dyk - extra wow to him !!!! amazing!! and RAY ALDER IS KING!

  • i love redemption

  • This is one amazing band - especially when you consider that Nicolas Van Dyk is only a part time musician. His day job is senior executive at Disney!!!

  • alder is a real prog vocalist.....any other singer would have hit typical unoriginal notes but alder takes it a step further and really makes the highs and lows interesting ....his phrasing on the lyrics is really interesting.......amazing band......

  • Progressive is in my veins, the soundtrack of my life...

LaBrie, Adler, Allen, Akerfeldt, etc... keep on singing you bastards, you make my day!

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is the reason i love prog :)

  • is there anywhere that I can download any songs from Redemption? I've loved the work of Ray Alder in Fates Warning and he sounds amazing with Redemption.

  • the creative head behind Redepmtion is songwriter and guitarist Nik van Dyk. Ray Alder only sing. :P

  • Nik plays keyboard too, and lets just say Ray Alder is good (amazing actually) at what he DOES do. I dont really mind that he cant hit those notes high notes that shatter glass anymore, still got a great voice.

  • Man they smoke this piece; yes its not Fates but still they gelled well together...its definitely better than the Engine material.

  • Guys i hear redemption for the first time..Can anyone plz tell me if FW are still continue their career???or Ray is only in Redemption???

  • This certainly isn't Alders best performance but any intelligent human being can clearly see that he fits perfectly in Redemption

  • Agreed, he does an awesome job at it. His singing is really clean, but it fits so well with the instrumental style.

  • I feel he fits personally.

  • well, it is progressive metal. the vocalist is part of fates warning last time I checked and that is also prog. so i don't see how alder doesn't fit.

  • i havent heard any other songs by them but i think this song fits his vocal style really well

  • Theyre ok... but i just can't help but feeling that the singer doesnt fit... It's like if Metallica suddenly hired a banjo player.. he just doesnt seem right. I mean, he's good, but its the wrong sound i feel...

  • Agree that he dont fit.

  • haha funny u say that....i agree

  • haha ok good i'm not going insane :P

  • nah i thought exactly the same...i mean his voice is OK but its not for prog...

  • Yeah exactly. It just sounds like a slightly out of tune piano... just not right.

  • yeahh great way 2 say it too it just doesnt fit in there

  • nice song, even guys i Norway have heard about you:)

  • God I hope Ray Alder takes a Redemption CD to Jim Matheos and says, "Seriously, write this."

  • Ha-ha-ha! Good point, my friend!

  • Why would he say that?...As much as I love Redemption..they and no other prog metal band hold a candle to Fates Warning...That was just a stupid comment you made

  • What an EXCELLENT Band!!!I Love this song!!!!!!! Progressive Metal is the Best Music on EARTH!!!

  • Que buena, no había visto videos de estos locos. Maldita sea, ahora que encontré esto se me ocurre meterme a la página de Redemption y ahí hay más videos jajaja... estos gringos no me entenderán, mejor...

  • Finally, a progressive singer that DOESN'T sound like Labrie.

  • Have you ever heard of andromeda or spheric universe experience or circus maximus.. all badass prog bands that don't sound like labrie they all fucking jamm and they love what they do doesnt matter whos better than who just have fun-- lates

  • your tellin me!!!

  • Have you heard the albums of Dominici? Yes, THAT Charlie Dominici!

  • That was a long time ago, but the neverending touring with DT and the re-injury he suffered in 2000 hace kept him from singing with his full capacitiy in the last years. However i prefer him and not Alder, though he is great too.

  • Great Band - live as on record - this song may not have the best vocal lines but Ray is a GREAT vocalist - at least much better than LaBrie of DT for example...

  • Hmm... i doubt that he is better than LaBrie. There is no comoparison point. At least LaBrie's range is wider. However alder's vocals sound fuller than James'. I think you cant compare them if you are talking about LaBrie in past recent years ( 2000-2007) because, this year, James is back and his voice is finally healed from the vocal chords he broke in cuba 14 years ago.

  • I like Dream Theater really much and I like the voice of LaBrie on the stuido Albums and the Ayreon albums. But in the recent years, his vocals (hearable on the live albums, there are plenty of them) got really aweful. Just compare "Live Scenes from New York! and "Chaos in Motion". So if he says, Ray is today better than LaBrie, I would agree with him. If LaBrie could sing like 10 years ago, they would be pretty equal and it would be a matter of taste

  • I agree

  • True, but you can't attribute LaBrie's sucking to him personally. He's never sucked really. He had to go to Cuba and get stupid food poisoning and rupture his stupid vocal cords.

  • His divine vocal cords, you mean. x]

I can't say his voice has completely been destroyed tho`.. sure, his 'live'-sounds has gone pretty weird at times, but it has an enjoyable, and certainly proggy style too. Can't say I don't like the samples from him singing at DT's upcoming album either.

  • Yeah I really do love his vocals, but they fall short live sometimes. It's been about 15 years since they could play learning to live with the F#.

  • I`ll be going to a DT-concert soon, so I guess I`ll find out for myself. You're probarbly right, tho`. He doesn't hit the high notes a lot in Train of Thought either..

  • LaBrie sounded great for the recording of Score, people need to back off.

  • Хрень...ни рулит....

  • Like the instruments, boring vocals...Saw em live last year. They had some technical difficulties.

The bass is sweeeet in this song, and some of the guitar riffs are catchy.

  • I agree...I loved Fates, but this band doesn't really strech Ray Alder's voice all that much. But I have the CD, they do rock overall....

  • To be fair... Ray isn't the same vocalist he was in 1991 or 1994. He was a powerhouse on Inside Out!! As for the Labrie comparison...oddly enough, I think Dream Theater could benefit from a vocalist like Ray who has a FULL voice that's full of depth...Labrie has a tendency to be thin and nasally with no bottom end--sort of like a surround sound system with the subwoofer turned off. When Dream Theater gets heavy and aggressive, I think someone like Ray would serve them well.

  • Yeah Ray would...OR Petrucci's secret Death Grunt. Seriously, I love LaBrie.

  • these guy's are some bad ass moter fuckers

  • The bass... is just sex.

  • and ecstasy...

  • I have all of their cds and love 'em, and I just learned today, 7 months after the fact, that they have a video. SO? how many times has it been shown on Headbangers ball? None? you probably say? Thought not, I'm probably thinking. They need a metal music channel for other metal styles and not just for AHH AHH AAGGHHJHHH!!! BBBLLLAAAAAGHHHH!

  • AMEN!! Dude, I am tired of all of the stereotypical death metal they show on TV, and they hardly ever give room for progressive metal.

  • amen to that

  • i like your name..dream theater is my favorite band dude..i see them with opeth in may

  • that keyboard sounds like a guitar lol. good music btw :)

  • Ya, i agree! saw them with DT at berkeley 7-28-07...amazing show!

  • That would have to be..I see Dream Theater with Opeth on May 16th in Columbus..so excited! XD

  • I saw DT and Opeth on May 5th. It was the best show I have ever been to

  • AWSOME!!! in every aspect i saw them live with DT in toronto canada thought they nailed evverything ...... and one more thing i dont care some of you have said gorge lopez in sings great live

  • Aw damn, they left out the opening bass lick...

    Either way, awesome vid.

  • I want to punch that girl in the mouth.

  • Why...?

  • I once saw Fates open for Dream Theater...what a show. This is like the best of both rolled into one and then some.

  • Redemption is amazing...great songwriters and musicians.

Not a fan of this video though...:\

  • these guys sound like a modern day rush, there awesome

  • piss off poser, these guys rock!!!!!!!!

  • Okay, I can understand if you don't like them, but why the hell are you so persistent?

  • in my top five best albums this year if you dont like it why comment

  • sounds nothing like dragonforce.......... its not even the same genre of metal (not that i have anything against d force)

  • you tone-deaf retard!...

  • What did you hear from Dragon Force? One song? These guys sound nothing like them. Dragon Force sucks ass. These guys kick it.

  • i gotta agree dragonforce is talent that cant write these guy write some amazing shit

  • Dragonforce are a bunch of alcoholics who are only good in the studio then suck ass live

  • so true

  • they suck ass in the studio to

  • These guys ROCK! I think "Origins of Ruin" is one of the best CD's of 2007 so far. Great Progressive band. These guys were just as awesome as Dream Theater!

  • You're funny.

  • im also right, thanks

  • Says who?

  • Dude he's only fucking with you

  • You are the most obvious troll I've seen in my life.

  • Once i read that they were opening for Dream Theater i got their two well known (relatively) albums. I loved them both, in fact, if they were not opening for DT i would have seen their show as well. They are not DT, but they are very good. P.S. Into Eternity had its moments, very few moments but they had a couple, nothing that would lead me to get their cd's.

  • awesome progressive band

  • These guys are pretty good, way better than into eternity. Saw them both open for dream theater in Milwaukee a few months ago. Everybody was making fun of into eternity, but most people actually hung around and listened to these guys.

  • Hegulator, I saw DT, IE, and Red. too, at Buffalo. I liked IE better cuz I've heard their music before, and I was hearing Red's stuff for the first time.

DT creamed both of course :)

  • You guys have a real good sound, love it.

  • The very best album 2007!!!!

  • you need to get used to rays vocals before you can enjoy them.. I do now, after 2 months with redemption

  • very talented band

  • I saw them on the last stop on the U.S tour with Dream Theater i think it was the 26th, i wasn't a huge fan of there music i guess im the only one who likes into Eternity, the people i went with said that they sounded like a bad cliche dream theater, idk i just wasn't a huge fan of them.

  • when i saw redemption like a month ago ray adler sounded really good.

  • august 18th they were sick im pretty sure a lot of people liked them that show made me do a little more research

into eternity in the other hand is probably one of the worst bands i've ever heard in my young life the singer is really bad.

even if this guy from redemption had throat problems i at least give him a credit for trying his best to put on a decent show and not sound like a devil fag like the into eternity singer

  • They opened for DT on the 21st... an almost no one liked them... he would ask people to stand up/clap, no one would.

  • hes not the greatest singer to ever live but he isnt bad either... he fits on this song

  • i heard alot of comments about ray and i can confirm that he was on the edge of larangitis

  • Didnt sound too good when I saw them either. Too bad, just another cliche 'prog' band. Oh well.

  • Saw them at Jones Beach 25th, shitty sound and Ray was having a hard time with his voice! Great band otherwise! Listen to Origins of Ruin.

  • They were great in Minneapolis despite the semi bad sound. Ray sang great. he is the king!

  • these guys were sick in toronto

  • Hey! J'ai ai vu moi a Montréal =D Ctait la premiere partie de Dream THeater =D

  • I was there in boston too, and I was haning with him after the show he had like no voice and could barely talk.

  • I JUST SAW THEM IN BOSTON WITH DREAM THEATER!! it was pretty shitty! the mix was bad, and the singer was singing way out of tune! i donn't know what was wrong with him! he just didn't seem to find the pocket! all in all they were not that great, kind of boring but they sound great on cd!!

  • dude, the singer obviously had no voice. He lost it somehow. I was at the show the night after, in wallingford and he could hardly talk yet he seemed to manage decently with actually singing.

  • Yo... I HATE the singer... he sucks... the rest of the band I enjoy... but the singer blows. I too was at the concert. If they had into eternity's singer, theyd be the best haha

  • the into eternity singer SUCKS SO MUCH DICK

WTF I SAW HIM IN TORONTO HES THE WORST FUCKING SINGER IVE SEEN LIKE FUCKING RAY WOULD KILL HIM IN A SING OFF

stupid high pitched devil sounding son of a bitch

  • no... not even close you faggit

  • no... its true.... fuck stu block.. ray alder is waaaaay better, no question

  • Just saw them in Detroit. Really, really good.

  • Redemption was great in Cleveland... Ray Alder had a tough time with his voice, though.

  • They were amazing when i saw them last night in cleveland with dream theater. Redemption is one of the best prog bands out there.

  • These guys really impressed the hell out of me. I caught them in Chicago last night w/ Dream Theater. Even through a shit mix, they really shined.

  • I was at that concert too, these guys were pretty good. The other opening band's singer was so annoying lol.

  • Kowalski and Riel wll be in the car at 8:00 am tomorrow driving from Winnipeg to Minneapolis to see Redemption! We are ready to rock!!! haha...Ray Alder is the king of vocals!

  • Redemption rocked at Kansas City.

  • I saw them lastnight also. In Kansas City. Redemption impressed the hell out of me. I went an bought both cd's with Ray on vocals. The man still has it.

  • They were incredible last night opening for Dream Theater.

  • I saw them live when they came to Austin with Into Eternity and Dream Theater, all 3 kicked ass! Shaun Andrews has become one of my favorite bassists now.

  • They were a great opening act for Dream Theater

  • This sounded great live in Dallas last night. Ray is one of my favorite singers.

  • WOW what a great video and a fantastic band. I was lucky to see them live in Phoenix with Dream Theater....RAY ALDER and Bernie Versailles rule!! I hope this gets the band exposed more.

  • veeeeeeeeeeeeery cool, great mix, great song, hope the video hits mtv. Nice work bro. santa rosa metal lives on.

  • Whoa, this is intense...Repo Man is always intense! Why don't they just turn the lamp off in the background? Is that what's driving the chick crazy? Good job, bro-sky!

  • Would have been nice if the intro and bridge weren't cut short, but awesome nonetheless. I hope the single gets the band some more success. You all deserve it!

  • Awesome!!

  • Ray Alder, you are the man.

  • Very cool M.E. Nice work.

  • Great band, both albums with Ray are killer shit. Favorite album for this year so far. I wish Ray was my daddy, not in the perverted way.

  • great band, great song, but definately not the best on the origins of ruin, probably picked for length.
