  • Awwh so cute!:) do you think that ringnecks can be apartment birds? Or are they too loud? And what cage size do you use for him?

  • @sprinky311 Hi, IRNs can be loud if bored or left on their own for long periods of time. Bigger the cage the better. Remember when toys, food bowl, water bowl, perches etc are added to the cage, it all takes up space. Need enough room so the bird can still flap wings without hitting the top or sides of the cage, plus allow room for their elegantly long tail. :o) Oh, and bar spacing around the 3/4", no bigger incase they get their head stuck.

  • @TheRorocool123 My bird used to do the same. But I trained it and but alot of afford to train though. It's takes alot of hard work! If u take your bird out every day then don't take it out one day and then after a day take it out if he bites u then put it back in the cage and touch his head. But u have to feed him stuff and if u feed him with your hand then try not to feed him from ur hand for some time. Take the bird out and shower it Coz birds have to shower. Then if he bites again but it in

  • i have one like that but it bites me plz tell me how do i train it ??

  • I don't know if its the video, but his eyes looks like an ice blue color. so pretty ^^

    He's a beautiful bird

  • He is a beautifull bird. I have a quaker parrot and he talks alot too. Thanks for sharing. I may get an irn soon!

  • @007Knives Thank you :o) I like quakers but never owned one...yet ;o)

I think ringies are misunderstood, sure they get a bit cranky at times, but who doesn't??? :o)

  • I love this voice!! so sweet... : )

  • @viviane0104 Thanks :o)

  • @mybirdies how did you make em speak?

  • @DaDySerKStR1 Hi, this boy already talked when I bought him, but I have other aviary birds that talk, they copied this one. Basically say the same word over and over daily and after some time, the bird may talk. Not all birds will or can talk though. I have a grey ringie inside that talks heaps, s/he copied my other talking parrot.

  • @DaDySerKStR1 He was talking when I got him.

  • how much is a boy idian ringneck

  • @WelcometoAusraila09 Depends on age, mutation, if aviary raised or hand raised, location, health of bird, pet shop or breeder brought, etc.

  • @mybirdies oh cause im thinking of buying a boy ringneck for my cockatill to play with

  • @WelcometoAusraila09 Some ringnecks do not take kindly to other birds, sometimes even their own kind. If you chose to get a IRN, I definitely wouldn't house them together in the same cage and only allow them to interact together under strict supervision in the house (if that is where you have your birds). A ringies beak is much bigger than a cockatiel and can do quite a lot of damage in a short amount of time.

  • @mybirdies well im thinking of getting a larger cage if i do have one and ill let them spend at least 20 min together with me

  • I dont know if i should get an indian ringneck or sun conure? can somebody help me?

  • @OutDoorsExpertiece It depends on space, the amount of time you can spend as well as what you can afford, and what you are after from a bird, ie: cuddly, talk etc as they have different personalities.

  • PRETTY BIRD!

  • @slowmopoke Thanks :o)

  • how do i tell a male from a female

  • @ickallaura Hi, from aprox the age of 2 or 3 years, males have a black ring around the neck like this one has where females do not. Under the age mentioned, a DNA or surgical test can be done.

  • excuise me but i was wandering do you know how big they get if so please write back thank you

  • @MegaNinja231

Hi, they grow to aprox 40-50cm (or 16 inches) in length. :o)

  • @mybirdies thnx :)

  • Comment removed

  • How difficult is it to train them? And how much more work are they than budgies and 'tiels?

  • @TrueGuitarGod

This one was talking when I bought him.

I do have a 12 month old ringie that I hand raised and is talking. But I did not actually teach him to talk. He picked up words from me talking to my CAG.

I guess it is up to the bird if it wants to talk or not.

  • You're Bird Is Beautiful!

  • @tomboy4564

    Thanks :o))

  • my irn is trying to kill me idk why any advice pls?im scared to get him out of the cage:(

  • @MrSkyMalta

Is your ringneck tame, how long have you had him? And how old is he?

  • @mybirdies hes 9 months he was in another island so i think he isnt tames he hates me but he loves the other family i have

  • @MrSkyMalta

Ok, well I tried to post the info but Youtube will not allow me to so will msg you the details. :o)

  • Does he live in a Shed?

  • @GABullDog067 No, that is his aviary. It has tin at the back for protection from the weather and wire at the front.

  • Very cute.

  • When i played this my ringneck was "talking' to him!!!! I LOVE MY BIRD!! And he too is camera shy!!!!!

  • Are indian ringnecks the same as Alexandrine parrots? If not, what is the difrence??

  • @BelleSashaMomo

Indian Ringnecks are NOT the same as Alexandrine parrots.

IRNs are smaller birds, Alexs' also have red on the shoulder.

There are also cross breeds of the two.

  • @BelleSashaMomo The difference is that IRN's are cuter :D

  • where do you buy indian ringnecks?Do they sell them in petsmart or petco?plz tell me mybirdies!I would really like one. Also coul you tell me how much does a green one cost if you know.

  • @Blackgun46

I bought my breeding pairs from breeders and handraised some of the babies. I am not sure if they sell them in petsmart etc. Price depends on your location (country, state and city).

  • Ok thanks and after how long you can tel of it's à boy or girl?

  • @geldtelt If you wait till nature takes it course, it can be 2-3 years or you can have surgical sexing or DNA test done to find out sooner.

  • when is the time he wil learn. i have bought a indian ringneck thats 6 weeks old but he cant talk yet?

  • @geldtelt At 6 weeks of age, your ringneck will barely be weaned, (my babies aren't weaned until at least 8-10 weeks of age).

It will be quite a few months before your ringie starts talking, if s/he chooses to. Not all birds will talk.

  • he is great, and unusual colur for a indian parrot. you should reply when he asks questions.

  • Thanks everyone :o)

The Lutinos, (yellow) are a striking bird. I have a couple of them.

    LOL @ penguin. ;o)

  • he kind of looks like a penguin! xD

  • Omg what a beautiful bird i have 3 Idian ring necks i have a blue, green and grey and rllllyyy wanting a yellow!

  • beautiful

  • How many different colours do the Indian Ringneck come in? I seen blue and green and yellow so far.

  • There is so many mutations of IRNs now, ranging from those you mentioned to Albino, (white), Grey, GreyGreen, Greygreen Cinnamon, Turquoise, Clear tails, Cobalt, Violets......new colours being bred all the time. :o)

  • @LyssaLys123 Alot Lol. It depends on wat colours breed

  • lol thank you blighter47. :o)

  • He is GORGEOUS !!!

  • Thanks marcosacha. :o)

  • at what age do they get the ring around the neck?

  • The males get their ring around the age of 2 years, but anywhere from 18 months onwards.

  • i got an idian ringneck its the same colour as your

  • Cool. They are great birds hey? :o)

  • how do u train it to talk

  • He is beautiful!!!

  • Thanks Fandille. :o)

  • I have a 5 month old grey IRN but hes not learning to talk can u give me some tips on how to teach him/her to talk?? Pleasee!!! :]

  • Not all birds will talk, but most do.

Just say the same word/phrase over and over again and praise when s/he begins to repeat it.

Saying the first word is the hardest for them, once they have mastered that, the other words are much easier and quicker. :o)

  • Honestly, it's pretty common for Ringnecks to not begin vocalizing real words until about a year. It's not the rule but it's what I've seen and heard. For his age, I would certainly work speaking simple repetitive words and or sounds. They will eventually start working them into their normal chatterbox routine.

  • what a pretty IRN! I have yet to teach mine to talk frequently, but I've heard him talk on rare occasions.

  • Thanks, they seem to talk when they WANT to talk lol.

  • nice colors !

  • Thanks!! :o)

  • I have been told tame parents breed.

I have a tame hen that I am hoping will breed this year.

So far all my breeders have been aviary bred birds.

  • my mom has been hinting that she would like to breed our irn, but i was wondering if it is possiable to breed to irns that are both tame. i was told that this wasnt possiable. is there any truth to this. i have a male and im currently looking for a female but im not sure if a hand fed female would be suitable for breeding

  • If your bird likes the mate you chose for it, it may breed, not matter how tame. However, it may then become a little less tame to you, as its bond will be with its mate instead of you.

  • My blue IRN knows how to say the same things. We're trying to teach him how to say 'Hello' currently, actually.

I should say blue/green. He was blue when we bought him, but he's slowly turning green.

  • Finally someone who appreciates the grey IRN's...Do you have Princess Parrots by any chance? I have my Blue Princess Egor, I've been meaning to get a green but they seem hard to find in Adelaide...Or maybe i just have bad luck.

  • He sure does have a cheeky personality. lol

    No I don't have any Princess Parrots.......yet! ;P

  • Do you sell your IRN's or just keep them as companion birds?

  • I do sell the young birds once they are fully weaned.

  • By any chance are you in Adelaide? Hahaha.

  • No sorry, I am in NSW. :)

  • Surfed here from the IRN board...What a beautiful and sweet little boy you have there!!<3

  • Thanks dhnarmabird67 :)

He is quite the character :)

  • beautifull and smart bird:P

I have an indian ringneck too:D

  • Thanks biljoetremike. :)

I just saw your Billie, very nice.

  • They are great birds aren't they?

    What colour is your ringie?

  • wat age did ur bird start 2 talk

  • I don't know, he was already talking when I got him.

  • Thanks mistyllspoetry :)

  • How sweet!

  • I thought you already did! lol

I have posted his pics in the forums.....I will see where I put it....

lol Not keepin' any secrets from ya ;P

  • So HOW COME I didn't know about this little sweet heart hey??? >:o(

He is sooo cute!!! Such a little monkey! I had no idea you had this one!!! I think you have some explaining to do, missy!
