@KnG1Dakota How do you pick your guinea pig up? Usually I will scoop my right palm under her belly and put her close to me (pig will feel more secure), and I don't have a problem with that. Perhaps you can try giving your pig its favorite food (e.g. wheat grass), then while it is eating you can scoop her up quickly and put it close to you. Keep doing it until it feels secure and happy with you. Don't be taken aback by it's biting. The pig will need to get used to being carried by the owner. :)
@dashingblue if im right the piggie biting doesnt mean it doesnt like you, it just means its a bit scared, and it takes time for it to trust someone... my sister was bitten a bunch of times by the one we had (died tonight) that she raise and i then took over this spring. sometimes when trying to pick her up she would just not do anything and other times she would try and resist.

Sometimes they need patience and lots of soothing carresses and slow, soft talking can help them calm down for a number of reasons! When they are really used to you and you have done that for a number of days try again to feed from your hand. They also may not be used to that type of food so test them and leave different types in their cage until they eat!
Move slowly. Guinea pigs are pray to large animals and fast movement scares them. Also, make sure she's aware of where you and your hands are before you handle her. I tend to put my hand on their back/shoulder before putting my hand under them. That way they know they'll be picked up, and they shouldn't be able to bite you immediantly. Then I put one hand under the tummy and one under the butt to carry, holding them against my body. Just be patient and don't give up.
Maybe your guinea pig doesn't like being handled. You should try to shoo she/he in a little brrow bag and get her out of the cage like that. Hope this helps :)

@maxerd2 Yes, Vivi likes chin rubs. :) If your guinea pig bites you back it could mean she doesn't like it, or maybe you can rub it a little lower not too close to her mouth. You can also try rubbing her cheeks instead.

Don't feel too bad, when I got my first piggie, I had to use a cage that was made for a Dwarf Hamster for the first day :( She only had a place to use the bathroom, a place to sleep, and a small area to eat and drink... (It was late when I got her, the only place open was KMART) Some people don't under stand tho, alot of people these days have small cages because they let their pig free roam in a room or area, so they don't have to spend their lives living in cages.
awwww it was so sweet when you stroked her and she stopped wheeking and closed her eyes! she obviously likes you and trusts you. I so love to see a happy piggy :)

Once, I played a video of a kitten meowing on YouTube and my cats responded to it thinking there is a real kitten meowing! This is my first hearing guinea pigs responding to a video! LOL! :D
This is so cute...but the cage seems to be very very small! And if you own guinea pigs, you should have minimum 2! And if you have only one, you have to play with it 2 hours a day. Just an advice :) btw; I love the wooly hair of your piggy♥

Hehe! Yes, I try to spend time with Vivi everyday whenever I have time. Haha! Her fur grows very fast and very thick! Every month I need to give her a haircut! =P
I have only one guinea-pig, too...but when I got him, I bought 2 of them. Unfortunatelly one of them was so young that his mommy couldn't have tought him social stuff and he always bit the other one...so we had to give the other one away=/ and I tried some times to put him together with other pigs from friends, but he's so very unsocial O.o but he loves humans and is'nt shy at all...:)

She is so adorable & she talks to the birds, 1:30, how cool! How old is she? The cage is a bit to small for her isn't it? I mean I have a 29"L X 18"W X 15"H which isn't too big nor is it small. It's was perfect for ginney & when I got pumba in february, it fit him as well & both piggy's still have enough room to move & chase each other around & this size provides them with enough room to excercise in, chase each other around & so on.

As I had explained quite a number of times to the other previous comments coming from concerned youtube members, that was just a temporary cage to house her when I got her as a surprise birthday present.
Vivi has already been transferred twice to a much much bigger cage. So no worries. =)

Thanks~ =) That cage was used to house her temporary when she was given to me as a surprise gift. Now she is in a much bigger cage... ^^

Hello~ Vivi is a Merino! She has curly hair which is really unique... =) However, when it gets long, it gets really nasty and she hates haircuts. =P Haha~ Thanks for your comment. ^^

yeah, I hope by now Vivi has a MUCH bigger cage. Having a guinea pig of my own , I know how fast they can grow... That's why i bought the biggest cage that they had and a huge playpen for Chili.

I have a guinea pic names ''gee pig'' wierd name i no but hes awesome. At night when u walk into my room he screems cos he wants a carrot and its adorable... :O)

Cute! Hello gee pig! ^^ Me too! Whenever someone passes by or walk into my room, Vivi will wheek and wheek! It was as if she wants to get our attention. =P Most of the time, she just wants her favourite crunchy romaine lettuces and cherry tomatoes... Hehe! ^^

Hi! That was a temporary cage for her at that time when she was still tiny. Now, Vivi is staying in a much bigger cage with a lot of room space to run about. ;P No worries.
