  • A sad day in our history!

  • I was almost 10 when he was running for President. I, along with all my friends LOVED him..had a 'crush' on him....It wasn't till I grew up that I realized that this man was a whole lot more than shy and cute. Bobby, you would have changed the course of History for the better had you been elected. The most intelligent and compassionate leader of our times....

  • Its' been over 40 years but seeing this and hearing this still brings a lump in my throat.

  • I'm curious as to who diverted him from the path to the main ballroom to the kitchen. You see him move to his right and then turn left. Also who is the strong silent type standing there at 4:28 in the middle.

  • Did I hear distant gunshots around 5:25 of this clip?? Seconds later, the mood of the Ambassador Hotel ballroom turned from jubilation to crisis, with several young ladies screaming alarm at the top of their lungs.

This appears to be recorded on a VTR in a remote truck on-site.

  • It's a shame no one has uploaded the NBC or ABC coverage from that night. NBC got video of Sirhan being hustled through the lobby as an angry mob took off after him, as well as some fascincating live interviews with eyewitnesses who were missed by CBS.. ABC was the only network to have a reporter broadcasting live (audio) from the pantry before RFK was removed. They also managed to get a live camera feed from the pantry literally seconds after RFK was removed on the stretcher..

  • @raelraven2 The best know souindbite of news coverage was from radio. A Mutual correspondent was in the corridor, asking RFK about his plans for a likely Fall run against Nixon, but heard gunshots, realized what happened, and then reported on-the-air "Has Senator Kennedy been shot? Is it possible?........Senator Kennedy ahs been shot".

  • @altfactor Andrew West was the Mutual Radio Reporter you mentioned. He is the reporter wearing glasses to Kennedy's right who asks him a question on the stage immediately after RFK finishes his speech. He then turned off his tape recorder and turned it back on after hearing the shots and entering the pantry. A recently discovered tape by a reporter named Pruszynski records the shots as breaking out at 1 min. 30 sec. after he finished the speech--before the sounds at 5:25 on this video.

  • the little jordanian palastinian fucking cowardly cunt shoots at 5.30

fuck him and his spineless act,, fuck isreal and palistine two shiteholes

  • The Democratic party of JFK and RFK is a million miles from this disgrace called Obama. Obama doesn't even have American flags at his press conferences. He had the Haiti quake relief effort take the flag down. He has nothing to say about the mosque to be built next to Ground Zero. He said the Arizona immigration law is a disgrace. I wish RFK was here to talk sense into this inept clown. We miss you Bobby. All you and Jack did is being dismantled brick by brick just as extremists have it planned

  • Someone announced "Kennedy's been shot", then the crowd thought he was getting them to chant "Kennedy, Kennedy, rah, rah, rah! The men imploring the people to clear the room and leave were wrong. This was a crime scene and everyone should have been held until the police arrived and had an opportunity to investigate and conduct proper interviews of potential witnesses.

  • JFK was a great President...RFK would have been even better.

  • I dont think that the point you made could be stressed enough, RFK woulda been better for sure. its heartbreaking, it hurts crazy

  • question..at 5:23 who are the men who stand and look directly in the kill zone? as soon as the audible shot is heard the turn and flee quickly...before the rest of the crowd has realized whats going on? I'm not really very informed about this even persay, i just find their actions of interest...

  • is that democracy? why they killed him such a great man.

    FUCK USA.

  • @kilobas "They" didn't kill him, sir. A man did, a man named Sirhan Sirhan.

  • or maybe Eugene Thame Cesar....Sirhan never got close enough to put it to the back of his ear....such a bitter lie they pulled over us

  • @kilobas They killed him because they feared he would end the war in vietnam and look into his brothers death cause they were evil monsters

  • Anyone know where I can a transcript of this?

  • ya he is he was doing 9/11 i saw his face

  • this place was way too crowded. he should've never given a speech in such a place

  • Wow! Talk about a sudden change of atmosphere after 5:18.

  • Actually, the atmosphere became frantic with screaming and panicking at 5:25.

  • I must admit RFK looked and sounded presidential that night.

  • He was much like his brother John. It is time for the blue dogs to stand up and take the country back1

  • I FEEL OLD I WAS 14 WHEN THIS HAPPENED

  • I was 7.

  • WOW YOUR OLD!!!

  • I was minus 19!!! ;)

  • i bet its krazy to you how the times and people have changed in the last 40+ yrs:) i was wasnt born untill 13yrs after this happen(1981)

  • This is what I understand you are seeing prior to the chaos beginning. There was another group of supporters in another part of the hotel waiting for RFK to come to them to speak as well. CBS also had cameras there. That is when you see another group of people standing and waiting and beginning a chant. They go back to the original cameras after they realize something is wrong in the embassy room. No gunshots heard on this video at all.

  • Comment removed

  • No, he yelled "LOUDER!". The gunshots aren't heard until at 5:23 but those 3 guys start standing up at 5:18, so the shots must have started about then.

  • well... with the exception that right when the "shots" (never know if they really are shots) were heard, everybody started looking at the right, (or their left), from where they heard the impact. Those three guys were looking the other way.

  • There are no gunshots on the video. What we here are likely balloons and for a fact what you hear at times are people messing around with the mics at the speaker stand. Networks were fooled at the time as well.

  • JFK is one of my all time favorite Presidents. Tip O'niel mentions in his book that business's would have signs in store windows stating "Irish Need not apply " before the Irish were elected to public office. All nationalities need to be involved in the democratic process and defend their civil liberties, for those who do not will lose it, or even worse their children will have less then they did for their parents in doing nothing to help their futures.

  • great man hes grandfathers grandad and brother were Irish republicans in the 1798 rebellion one of them was killed at the battle of vinegar in wexford which is were there from and one of his distant irish cousins had somthing to do with the I.R.A during the war of indepence 1920 t0 22

  • Any conspirators, please exit stage please. Thank you.

  • I like how the dumb blonde in the hat tries to talk into the back of a video camera at 7:31. She tries to take over and runs her mouth.

  • you obviously don't know dick about what's goin on, RFK had been shot 3 times along with 3 other people the entire room was in panic screaming & shoving and had an ambulance got there sooner maybe bobby would have lived

  • Yea, that's exactly the reason why she's shoved out of the way b/c she was creating more panic by screaming into the microphones. The other guy got on the mic and asked everyone to calmly leave the room, which in a way, may have let any possible other shooters (if there were any) leave scott free.

  • That was Steve Smith, RFK's brother-in-law and longtime Kennedy fixer.

  • Comment removed

  • So what that does that mean huh? I don't know dick about it? Uh, look it up - he was ASSASSINATED! Everyone can see from the film footage what was going on - complete and utter chaos with thousands of people and this dumb bitch is getting everyone more stirred up. It wouldn't have matter if the ambulance was parked right out back - the bullet went into his brain and he died. He would have lived if he hadn't went back through the kitchen like he was told not to by the LIFE photographer.

  • I've always wondered about that. There's video taken from behind Kennedy on the rostrum. At the end of his speech, he heads off stage right. But then the maitre'd is clearly heard telling him "Senator, this way. This way." And he leads him off in the opposite direction, into the pantry, and to his death. Why did they change his exit plans at the last second?

  • STUPID FUCKIN BITCH

  • She was in shock...like everyone else in the room.

It's not her fault. It's the fault of whoever ordered Bobby's execution.

  • A man would offer to help the shocked lady. You, on the other hand, have the attitude of a maggot.

  • you shut the fuck up, who even uses the word 'maggot' as a slur? and by that I can tell that youre an oldie. If I'm a 'maggot' then every man in that room is a maggot because noone attends to her you prick so fuck off.

  • What's this about I heard that a lady in a polka-dot dress was screaming out "We shot him! We shot him!" and was running out of the hotel building? Can someone explain that theory to me?

  • God this man would have been a great president

  • @ChaosGremlin - Isn't that the truth. Bobby would have been a great president.

  • @ChaosGremlin Why because he says what you want to hear and speaks well? That means nothing mate.

  • God this gave me chills, I never knew they had reaction video

  • this country is in such bullshit

  • Note :

    Looking for JFK's lost brain ? :

According to the HSCA RFK had last possession of it in a stainless steel container marked 'Gross Material' in the White House and when transfered to the National Archives the container was missing . He disposed of it like he did JFK's coffin (Dropped in the Atlantic Ocean far from shipping lanes) by the USAF .

  • Are those the gunshots at 5:10?

  • thats somebody CLAPPING YOU FUCKING IDIOT

  • i know what you meant I also heard something that was sounding like pops but that was more balloons I think.

  • From what I see, at 5:23, there seems to be the very faint sounds of gunshots. We know who fired it....that lame ass retard illegal immigrant Sirhan Sirhan.

    -Matt

  • Robert Kennedy cared about the good of the country, not merely the "good" of the Democratic party. Sadly, the Democratic party of today is a FAR CRY from the Democratic party of RFK and JFK.

  • horse shit.

  • @babylambs couldnt agree more

  • @babylambs he cared in gerenal ye just like his bro great men!

  • for more bobby kennedy and mlk jr speeches check out America for peace channel.

  • i agree i mean i'd love to see obama match this video

  • whatdo u mean

  • Well Mr.peace=)being that we are all energy calibrating at certain frequencies that correspond with very specific levels of consciousness. It can be determined that RFK AND JFK stood for a higher level of consciousness or truth. That is why the darkness behind todays ruling elite planned against them.If Obama is a true messenger of light, Such as M L King,Gandhi,RFK,AND JFK. It would only mean that his political career will MATCH the level of integrity that these men demonstrated in THIS VIDEO

  • "i wish RFK was still a live. He would be the best President ever man. Dude it ashamed he had to leave"

Beware of what you wish for , you might get it someday . RFK was JFK's cleanup squad leader . JFK lead such a reckless life he needed a army of ppl to fix what was left in his wake : For Example :

RFK screwed with JFK's autopsy (To hide his illnesses) that left a indelible impression upon the minds of Americans that the USG tampered with the results .

  • Looking for JFK's lost brain ? :

According to the HSCA RFK had last possession of it in a stainless steel container marked 'Gross Material' in the White House and when transfered to the National Archives the container was missing . • what a load of crap......

  • kennedy did not capture the democratic nomination with his victory in california.according to UPI,kennedy won 172 of california's 174 delegates,as well as 24 additional delegates in the south dakota primary.kennedy's total delegate count ran to 393.5 convention votes, still far behind hubert humphrey's five hundred sixty one and a half delegates, but ahead of eugene mccarthy, who had 258.the final battlefield between kennedy and humphrey would have been the democratic national convention .

  • May Sirhan rot in hell for he did.

  • What a great man. By the way- I think i saw Caroline, John's wife.

  • Forty years ago today.

    R.I.P, Robert Francis Kennedy.

  • At 7:38 to 8:36 who is the lady in between the staffers who are then speaking in the mics? White dress, earrings with blond hair, she looks calm at the podium.

  • That's Jean Kennedy Smith, one of Bobby's sisters. She's standing next to her husband Stephen Smith, Bobby's Campaign Mgr and brother-in-law, knowning if she was calm at the height of pandemonium, maybe it would resonate thru the panicked crowd.

  • i believe that is jean smith - bobby's sister.

  • I wish someone in that kitchen would've given Sirhan the Jack Ruby or Otoya Yamaguchi treatment!

  • i wish kennedy was still a live. He would be the best President ever man. Dude it ashamed he had to leave. He was a good guy.

  • Its pretty fucked up he got shot. He gave one of his best speeches of his life then he gets shot.

  • Were those the gunshots at 5:10?

  • 5:23

  • We so need this sensibility now, more than ever.

  • is that ted kennedy at 8:04 in the video

  • Wait i ment obama is not a rfk and he well never be a rfk no one is rfk other than rfk.

  • If you take away the New England accent and replace the word Vietnam with the word Iraq, it's Barack Obama.

  • Obama hasn't said dickety about an immediate withdrawal, the US will be there until 2012 with Obama. And he only wants to remove combat troops, not the general US presence.

  • uh not even close.

  • don't you dare compare ANYONE to RFK - jerk

  • i seriously worry about this happening to Obama

  • If only it would happen to the inbreeder currently in charge.

  • Remember it was because of this incident that the Secret Service now protect candidates as well. He is a lot safer than Bobby ever was. Still, I pray that this never happen again.

  • It hurts watching this, for a dream of much better times died when they pulled this off. I can still remember that night, and the sinking feeling that it will be a longer struggle than we ever imagined. Hopelessness and horror gave way to learning, but for a moment, a shining future seemed within reach. Sometimes, I try to imagine that future, and it causes me to keep working towards it. RIP RFK and all the ones who were swallowed up in darkness after the operation....

  • Nice speeches? Are you deaf dumb or stupid? McCain didn't even know what the hell he was talking about when questioned about the Suni and Shiite presence in Iraq (OLD RETARD).

Look at his record in the Illinois senate and you can find what he has done. The biggest BULLSHIT artists are the republicans which you are a part of. The Republican Bullshitters have taken this country from a surplus to a $9 trillion deficit. You call that experience? Pull your head out of your ASS! MORON!

  • I think the shooting occurs at approximately 5:14, that's when the shouting begins.

  • Sirhan Sirhan was a mind control victim. He was also a distraction. Kennedy did not trust police or hotel security. Hotel was owned by a cia front which later became "resorts international". Over 100 roles of film confiscated and destroyed (accidentally overexposed). Photographers have just received compensation in the past 10 years. Thane Caesar, hotel security guard and former lockheed employee came up behind and shot him with a .22 form 1/2 to 2 inches away. Powder burns on his skull.

  • sirhan never killied RFK.

    RFK WAS A LOVELY MAN

  • ıt's very badly.. ı 'am sadness... ı think this president is very good person...

  • you sound like an idiot

  • Wow you shouldnt make statements.

    But I do support Obama.

  • I'll give you one....... Opposition to the War in Iraq and pulling troops out. Second, lowering healthcare costs and third dealing with the Mortgage crisis.

What the hell are you talking about when calling him black? He was born to a WHITE mother and BLACK father. Stop the BS! Typical nut bag. Senator McCain is the old BUSH and Senator Clinton is old washington politics lying about Bosnia stories and Hospital stories exaggerating her so called experience.

  • ya obama but dont say that

  • I can hear the voice of Sen. Barack Obama in this man.

Vote Obama for a New Beginning!

  • Obama has nothing to do with this so keep him out of it. You obviously don't know the first thing about RFK.

  • YOU ARE RIGHT, OBAMA IS NO RFK

  • I Agree with that He is not no one can ever be a RFK other than RFK.

  • OK, Just HOPE Mrs Clinton will now give up. I don't like either of them, BUT I don't want an OLD MAN to be your next President of your GREAT country. So from Wales it must be Obama with a heavy heart!!

  • Don't forget those 'great men' WERE American!

  • Clear the room? Wrong! No one gets out without a full investigation, including complete testimonies. As soon as that shit happens you send two-three of your men out to monitor the outside, then wait for backup.

    NO ONE GETS OUT.

  • Do you see how fucking crowded that room is at 3:50? Do you not realize how that MIGHT be a problem for medical aid to get through?

  • I could see taking some people out, like those who clearly weren't even close to the incident, but even then, conduct it immediately outside. It's to my understanding that over half of the people (witnesses) there didn't even get interviewed. At least to the best one can. Not a lot of room for paramedics? They had all that room through the back of the pantry. But whatev.

I see your point, people can be obnoxious.

  • I want to know who it was that made the "last Minute" decision to go through the kitchen.

That is exactly where the killer was waiting.

You don't make a decision like that with a Senator without a clean sweep of the area!!

Does anyone know who that was??????????

  • RFK was not killed by that guy shooting in front of RFK. He was killed behind his left ear, his so called bodyguuard and friend" did that.

Robert's brother Ted asked the judge not to put to death Sirhan Sirhan. Why would Ted do that? I just HOPE that the first black man in your country who has a chance to be president will not be killed. I bet HE will be killed if he wins the Democratie Nomination. There are people there.............

  • I never seen the entire footage of what happened that night, thanks for posting. RIP RFK

  • at 5:23 is a tragic moment in us history.......i guess it goes back to the struggle, joe kennedy should know..........right?

  • Oh yes well, I can't deny that, JPK was quite an evil old man, who made his money through bootlegging. Yes, he schemed and plotted the future for his sons, but used far less violence and crime to achieve it than Prescott Bush.

That's funny, both similar men, both friendly to nazism, but one was more evil and violent, so he succeeded. But at least the K's were good, the house of Bush is pure evil.

  • is it true his dad worked 4 da mob

  • Mob arrests went up 800% when RFK as Attorney General and you ask something stupid like was the Kennedy patriarch part of the mob?

  • thats why he got killed

  • RFK was a man who achieved his own greatness. Amazing to come from a family like that, full of fame already, and yet work so hard to show he was his own man, and I think people saw that, and what he stood for.

Don't come together in grief for them, what a waste that is, DO what you must DO, that will honour their memory, that will bring them peace.

  • Barack Obama is the New Robert Kennedy God bless America

  • Dont say it like that. I pray that he dosen't meet the same fate.

  • not a chance ...there will NEVER be another RFK !

  • I do not mean in any way to bash Obama but Bobby actually DID things to deserve the respect he got. He earned it. Obama hasn't done much of anything yet so this comparison is garbage. We will see what Obama does if he gets the presidency but until then .....

  • That's what the news media would like you to believe but as someone who has witnessed with my own eyes the real change Obama brought to Chicago as a community organizer, state senator and U.S Senator has been amazing. This man was offered lucrative salaries from the who's who of firms yet he chose to do the right thing and that's help the less fortunate with as simple things as setting up job training programs or making sure residents in poor neighborhoods aren't breathing in asbestos.

    OBAMA 08

  • Can't be any worse than the clown that is George Bush ...

  • Ron Paul is just a right-wing zealot who feeds on paranoia. His supporters are crazy, conspiracy nuts and neo-nazis.

  • EXACTLY

  • You're a dick.

  • Man, what a bullshit! I can't hear this "Weltjudentum"-paranoid statements.

  • Why is that Sirhan Sirhan, an Arab, was convicted of Bobby's assassination?

  • Comment removed

  • Because he pulled the trigger. Duh.

  • MAYBE Cynics will win in the end

  • RFK : what a waste....great man in the making

  • I still can´t believe that this happened.

For the second time in five short years, a guardian of hope is gunned down in the US. The Kennedy´s were loved all over the World and we still miss their idealism and optimism.

The footage is very realistic, but, above all we miss Bobby.

  • He was a good man, and bold enough to step above politics as usual to be a candidate of actual honesty, integrity and compassion.

Hopefully Democrats voting in the primaries will use his example as to why they should vote for Barack Obama instead of the fake and polarizing Hillary Clinton.

  • He would be a good chooice at this point in history but not hillary and certainly not obama (small letters intentional) both poor poor choices Case closed

  • 3:01

  • What is 3:01 ?

  • I want to wear Jean's dress!

  • I am inspired by the Kennedy's and the way they spoke. The things they said. They spoke of peace, compassion, tolerance and understanding. I'm afraid many in the US are obsessed with war and the people need to question the leaders of today and push them toward peaceful solutions. They need to get them talking about world peace and not fighting preemptive wars or pointing fingers and labeling enemies. The military industrial complex is out of hand (see Why We Fight).

  • CIA agennt david morales can been seen at the back at 4.30 - 4.52.

  • Sure sounds like shots fired at 3:53-4:02.

  • No, that sounds like the microphone hitting against something. And it isn;'t until 5:17 that the crowd toward the pantry starts reacting to the shooting.

  • Listen to this & you really understand what a "bottom of the barrel" loser we have as president we have now!!

  • Bottom of the barrel comment is more like it.

Re Kennedy--the truth is that had he lived, he would likely have not even gotten the Dem nomination. HHH had the convention wired that year.

  • That is possible, I don't think Daley liked him as much as JFK. I think politics(Democrats) would have been different however.

  • Very likely Dem politics would have been different. For better or worse, who knows. It could hardly have gotten worse than it became when the McGovernicks took over. The party is still paying for that.

  • Absolutely, the enormity of the tragedy overshadowed the fact the Humphrey would have been the eventual nominee that year. He outpolled Bobby in the number of delegates 2-1 on June 4. That was the days of the smoke-filled room & back room bosses. LBJ controlled the party machinery,(Richard Daley was his stooge),Humphrey was his hand picked successor. LBJ despised Bobby & would have done anything to deprive him of the nomination in Chicago that year.

  • Which Bush?

  • Both of them. I don't think we should be in IRAQ but it in nice not to know that we are selling out the lincoln bedroom and have john huang raising money like the hillbilly from Arkansas. What a circus with the clintons. 7 women bascially called him a sexual predator and some were even DEMOCRATS.

  • This might be dumb of me... but isn't that Ted Kennedy asking people to leave?

  • No, Steve Smith. Kennedy brother-in-law. Was also a Kennedy fixer.

  • Thanks...

  • I find it ironic, that if this were today, the LAST thing you would hear from the podium in such a gathering of liberal Democrats, would be "Would you please offer your prayers." That is how much America has changed and secularized since 1968. How politically incorrect to say such a thing in our day and age.

  • That is the most arrogant and assinined comment I have seen on this board. Democrats are not godless, it's just that most of them don't feel the need to force their own personal style of worship or beliefs on other people. Democrats do pray in times of both joy and grief, but they usually do it privately between themselves and God. It's got nothing to do with being politically correct, its called stoicism and respectfulness, Thankful guy. Maybe you should try it sometime.

  • Fact is, those were different days. You will not see open praying, with Catholic rosaries, at ANY 2008 Democrat presidential events...except maybe by protestors there not part of the campaigns, protesting abortion. Just a realistic observation, does not make a value judgement about Democrats' private persuasions, just that religion in general has been taken out of American public and political/government culture for the most part.

  • Too may ppl are concerned w being poiltically correct. What a goldess bunch they are

  • Thank you for posting this video. It will be forty years this June, and has anyone -- of either party -- inspired young people like Bobby? JFK was President for 1000 days and many of his visions were realized, such as landing on the moon and civil rights. But no one ever picked up Bobby's mantle, and that perhaps is the greatest tragedy of all.
