  • This thing would never run minecraft on all lowest possible settings, would it?

  • voodoo 2 leaded my best half life 1 experiences

  • thanx 4 this video. now i can stop scouring eBay for a 2d card and hook my precious 3D blaster up to my shitty GeForce 2 MX 200. Now if only i hadnt thrown out my 3d blaster monitor....

  • hold on, the eighteenth frame is rendering.

  • @leewolfgang i'm not with you? you mean the red around the screen? Thats the games way of showing you that you are taking damage from enemies..

  • @1700iDiGuy I'm just making fun of the age of these cards in general. I've only heard of voodoo as really old, shitty things that could barely render something like Elite Force. I'm not technologically advanced enough to actually make technical comment, but I presume that getting voodoo to work on a game like Penumbra is good.

  • @leewolfgang oh right, i get you now, people have actually got these cards to run quake 4 with a few different modded drivers

  • @leewolfgang In the time of Voodoo's greatest day it was definitely the most advanced card on market. When you tank of Voodoo you don't neccesary tank about a chipset, but often about a breakthrough in gfx and the legend of 3dfx.

  • i think the point is why are you showing off your new card with a shit looking game......

  • @SCREAMOFANBIGTIME what are you on about? i dont spend my life on computer games..i work and in my spare time my hobby is making extra money...

  • Oh god. To think that back then you had such computer powers. Wow...

  • I remeber i hadd 2x voodoo 2 in my pc:) it whas OVER KILL thene!:D

  • people have asked 'how do you know how the voodoo card is working, and its not just the primary card doing all the work?'

Well you could just disconnect the passthrough cable. If the picture goes away, it was the primary card :)

  • @starsiegeplayer

Best thing to do to really be sure is install a 2D only card and attach your pass through cable to that OR you can disconnect the pass through entirely and connect a second monitor directly to the Voodoos. The Voodoos will still drive the game through the second monitor but the monitor will go black when you switch back to the GUI.

  • I miss my Voodoo 2 12MB

  • dude you realize even a gma intel igp(3xx/5xx) chip from few years ago can outperform what 4 way sli voodoo 2 card can provide....i meant what is the point? since r9200se is far more powerful than gma 5xx. but today a gtx 480 is like thousands of voodoo2 sli together. anyway it is a total garbage in today's standard...

  • @hanrinch

The point is that there are still vintage gamers out there who play old DOS games and the Voodoo 2 SLI setup was the thing to have back then. Most modern cards from the last few years don't have drivers going back to the DOS era and some don't even support back farther than XP. DOSBox on a newer system sometimes has problems so you need a vintage gaming rig to really play these games like they were meant to be played. I have a pair of STB Blackmagic 12mb cards in my rig.

  • i would wonder what kind of dos game that cant run on modern os(except windows 7)? i play heavy gears1/2, mechwarrior1/2/3, falcon, battlezone, mdk, slave zero, quake1/2. terminator, duke nukem, marathon, theft, blood, turok1/2, shadow, redneck chronicle, gunman, heretic, hexen, descent1/2, terminal velocity...etc these either on my vista or xp x64 and run great except some game like descent has framerate limit of 60fps

  • @gamewizard

I've been thinking of getting a voodoo card for the dosbox (K6-300, 128mb) I have for retro gaming so I could play Alone in the Dark at full speed.

Then I found my old voodoo2-1k.

Another reason for wanting it is that I would like to write 3d games/apps for dos, but haven't found out how to "talk" to modern opengl/DX video cards from dos. :(

  • @hanrinch

A modern 1gb PCI-e video card cannot accelerate a game like "Alone in the Dark", because it doesn't speak Glide, and the game doesn't speak DirectX/OpenGL.

You can achieve such acceleration through software emulation; it'll still use the software renderer, but the power of a 2ghz or better CPU will make it seem accelerated (like in DOSBOX). But it will be choppy and unpleasant, in my experience.

  • lmao @ Quake 3 Arena in 2009 , get a real game/ GPU

  • @LegionAreWe lmao @ your weird drug induced videos, get off the drugs and get a job, incase you havent noticed, a lot of people still play quake 3 online even now in 2010....1000's of people still do. i bet you'd get your ass whooped in less than 12 seconds on it. whats a real game to you? prancing around in your sisters room in her pink socks playing on her nintendo wii?...right...

  • @1700iDiGuy

I was designing q3a maps in Gradiant before you were a tingle in your daddy's sack bitchboy. Like the rest of the industry , I evolved into more advanced technologies.

  • @LegionAreWe 'go fuck yourself failfag'.......wow, oh, wow, you sound so like the mature 30 something you're supposed to be, hahaha!

  • @LegionAreWe

    30 year old chantard.

    heh.

  • @jjmanman77 dude, shut up

  • @1700iDiGuy dude, shut the fuck up, i mean, you got a nice video here, but you commenting like a troll here, not very good troll tho, and the thing is, Radeon 9200 can play Quake 3, Penumbra and Half Life very great

  • are u showing pictures or is it lag?

  • @LackOfAk pictures, i used screenshot for them, and for my videosa a proper digital film camera/recorder thanks for commenting

  • w00t. 4w3s0m3 r1g br0.

  • @VengeanceCo its not that awesome..its only a p3 its ok

  • @1700iDiGuy

Actually, a P3 is about what you need to really unleash the Voodoo 2. They scale extremely well and it's been tested and found that a 700mhz P3 class chip is about optimal for a single Voodoo 2 and a 1ghz or better for a pair in SLI. On slow systems the Voodoo 2 spends a lot of time waiting for geometry calculations from the CPU so a really fast CPU maxes out these cards.

  • @gamewizard Not to mention that P3 had extra stuff in it for setting up geometries. You are right. The cards do get faster and faster with better CPUs. I had to add heat sinks to the cards in SLI because they started to overheat with my 1GHz P3.

  • @starsiegeplayer

Heh, I have an ABit VP3 with dual 1ghz PIII's on it and my Voodoos have the Tennmax coolers on them.

  • RIP Voodoos. :(

  • =')

  • ha ha. yea the voodoo days!!. boy that takes me back. thenk thay sold out to NVIDIA back in the day. i really wish these guys would have stuck around to shake things up a bit.

  • Does ur mobo not support AGP port?

  • @TheMJG1 yep you saw the 9200SE agp radeon card

  • cool!!

    i have 2 questions...

    1. how much you payed for that?

    2. whatz the name of the song?

    :)

  • @mosu95 voodoo 2 were 15 quid each from ebay bids, and the song is paralysed by finger 11

  • @1700iDiGuy thanx :D

  • :( 8MB version... Is it the EvilKing or PowerColor one?

  • This pwns the shit into a 5890?

  • @Ubaroo wha-at?
