great show grew up watching this. my favorite was the one about the struggling photographer who discovers fame by killing and taking pictures of his victims while passing it off as Art
They NEED to bring this show back! I'm 32 now and I loved watching this show back in the day. Ah the memories! Let's just hope that HBO will listen. Nowadays most of what you see on TV is about as good as the Karshiadan wedding was till death do we part.
Just came to say U LITTLE FUCKER I SHOULD PUNCH YOU IN DA FACE. Not only did u scare me as a kid u gave my older sister more tools too bully me with >_<.
I remember seeing the reruns on regular TV back when I was little. It came on at either midnight or 1am, I can't really remember cuz I wasn't supposed to be up watching it but that damn skeleton?! That mF used to scare me to DEATH! Now that I'm damn near 22, it cracks me the hell up to think about back in the day lol
This scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. I'm 24 now and it still left me feeling creeped out! lol! The angles and zooming in as it leads you into the house it just perfectly eerie. This is what real horror is supposed to be like. This is genuine scary material.
Remember watching this with my whole family when i was like 5 im 19 now, thanks dad for letting me watch this and buying me the first mortal combat and letting me play it at such a young age. With this generation it would be a bit different.
ffun fact few ppl know about this intro. right after the hb logo finishes, if your volume is loud enough. listen close and you will hear a lil girl whisper"Its cold and dark again" which is insanely creepy@.@ in this clip you can hear "dark again" half a second in..;) long live tftc
I remember how scared i was to the intro of this show...i would run up the stairs and hide under the covers at my grandmothers house...grant it i was like 5 or 6 and now at 23 i laugh at how funny it is...but its still creepy...great intro great show
I used to be so scared of the Crypt Keeper when I was 6 years old, but now, I'm starting to know that ironically, the Crypt Keeper has better hair than Beyoncé herself! Just sayin'!
Wonderful intro! It's like you're walking right into a new world. I remember being scared to death whenever this came on but felt obligated to watch it because of its sheer entertainment, Then as soon as the intro was over, I'd fall asleep because I didn't understand the stories as I was too young. By the way. Has anyone else wondered what the rest of the mansion looked like? I used to always get mad when the camera wouldn't go up the stairs or into a different room.
I always used to watch this as a kid & a loved the show but I also always thought the crypt keeper dude lived in my closet & I had a fear of skeletons then lol
The introduction sequence that started every episode through the Cryptkeeper's home is actually the size of a miniature golf course green. Small "snorkel" cameras were used to film this portion.
THANKS MOM FOR WATCHING THIS SHOW BACK IN THE DAY ALL THE TIME RIGHT BEFORE I WAS SUPPOSE TO GO TO BED. ITS NOT LIKE IT DIDN'T GIVE ME NIGHTMARES OR ANYTHING
@Dre259 The only episode that gave me nightmares (and nearly made me vomit) was that one episode where this one guy gets a snake tattoo that comes to life and it was on a Halloween night nonetheless. But other than that it was a GREAT show, and it only lost to The Twilight Zone (in my opinion).
In this pussified america we will not even be allowed to show this on air without some over sensitive parent complaining that this show will have negative impact on their child and transition them to be future serial killers . I hate this generation
@JURYJOHMZOMBIE It's not the generations fault, and way more violent and influential material is shown today then it was in the 90's. Most of all music which is popular promote Partying (Drug usage), Materialism, "Do your own thing attitude", Promiscuity among other negative aspects. The thing is, we've been groomed to adhere to tolerance, we've got this false sense of freedom because we can object to anything although ultimately it's government who decides what moves and what doesn't.
@JURYJOHMZOMBIE It's just political correctness working it's magic. Tomorrow it may be politically correct to go outside shirtless and then many will too, without question. It takes a few generations to influence people to do something, but eventually it breaks through and then it's passed down to the next till another aspect needs to be added or is of no longer use. We can look in the pass 15 or so years and see this as fact. Great show, still got some on tape.
@Shadowlooker12 i agree but it seems now alot of the things are products of over senstitive parents, when i grew up it was still ok to play outside , get hurt , get bruised up , fight the bully , but now everything we do is bad. My parents had no problem in exposing me to horror movies primarily 80s flicks they told me and explain to me that it was all fake due to the fact that my dad in his earlier years did some special fx on some b movies , times have changed and i am not well in these times
Um...not to sound like a puss or anything, but I DID see this at a young age and it freaked me out. Still to this day, seeing that corpse pop out of the coffin and cackle is still horrifying.
My parents, on the other hand, still laugh their arses off every time they remember it.
@JURYJOHMZOMBIE I love the stupidity of the people who correlate the concept of a horror show with some sort of factual occurence in the real world. Fantasy is something not real, and how does that imply anything about the real world? Gotta love the ignorace. Happy Haunts.
@JURYJOHMZOMBIE Well, this is just horribly retarded. When I was 4-10 my brothers, friends, and I would stay up all night watching this show. I'm now 13, and I turned out fine. Fuck America. >_<
@StephyxxD i agree , i do have some spotty memories of what the early 90s were but it was a transition from the 1980s sub cubcultures and styles yah know like heavy metal glam metal , punks etc really did get killed off the mainstream by grunge imo the 80s were the best time for horror movies but today the problem is that they always blame the media than rather analyze themselves as parents . My parents always told me it was fake and he showed me how cause he worked in special fx before
You said it bro and it's not about culture either. I live in Romania and I watched a lot of great shows when I grew up, from the 80s and 90s including this one and I turned out a decent human being. The jonas and hannah montana generations are going to be fuckin' backward. They will venerate euphemistic language, they will adopt superstitionism and idolatry of the behaviorist created self. They will sacrifice all reason on the pedestal of their new idea of God, post hoc ergo propter hoc.
@Zamolxx dam straight and i agree to what you said , i grew up watching 80s horror films and i turned out fine , It is not the shows fault for corrupting your kid it is your job as a parent to inform your child about the world.

@42Johney you know the true horror tv is Reality TV. It makes me want to scream and throw my tv out the window. Too many horrible shows..there's just too many. I can't take this crap anymore.
OhhMyyGoshhh , I Remember My Parents Used To Watch This When I Was Like 7 Or 8 Or 5 Or Something And I Used To Run Out Of The Room . Like Who Wouldnt Be Deathly Afraid Of This ! Even The Intro Is Scary !!
great movie i love it... watch our music video to "Night of the living dead" on our channel. We are a austrian punk band... the music video is called "Die Nacht der lebenden Toten" this is german and means "The Night of the living Dead" enjoy
It used to be a game - don't flinch when the guy pops out. I almost always failed, but man I used to love this show. I'd sleep with all of the lights on and have nightmares. Good times.
I remember being a kid and when this intro started up I would have to change the channel as fast as I could because the crypt keeper scared the shit out of me.
@Prayerrr7 lol for real i was lil kid n i watch this n it scare me when it started id be peekin thru my fingers or tha blanket haha now most scary movies or shows aint scary cause u expect it coming but back then it was real creepy or scary
@Prayerrr7 He was pretty creepy lol This theme and Goosebumps theme are my favorite 2 horror type themes from my childhood, even though Goosebumps was more towards Teens and younger, it still was horror. Speaking of which, I was just reminded about Ghost Writer ROFL.
@Prayerrr7 Me too! I just thought about this today and I had to find it, I had to search for it cause I didn't remember the name of it.I remember being at least 4 or 5 and this would come on late evenings or at night and I would snatch the remote as fast as I could and turn it lol
I remember one time my dad watching this show at 12:00 p.m and me coming out to ask him a question then seeing the opening, peeing my pants, and running to my room!!
great show grew up watching this. my favorite was the one about the struggling photographer who discovers fame by killing and taking pictures of his victims while passing it off as Art

It used to be a game - don't flinch when the guy pops out. I almost always failed, but man I used to love this show. I'd sleep with all of the lights on and have nightmares. Good times.
