My name is Pete, your story rings true for me. I lived at Thornchase for about 2 1/2 yrs. ...around 1963 I think it was. I remember we had one girl in the whole place. I remember Miss Pole( the wicked witch), Miss grean (the head mistress) and most of all I remember Anna (the Austrian cook) and I was the kitchen boy. I also remember the magpies and the bats and the toads in the ivy. I'm flying over from Las Vegas USA on Sun & staying in Merrow ..yea I gotta take a look at Thornchase 1 more time
I know it has changed a whole lot. I wasn't there till late 60s. Headmaster then was a Mr Baron, I think his family are still there and now live in the place as there home. I hope you have a safe and enjoyable journey.
Oo-er ! odour de play-doh ! I know exactly wot u mean ! lol ! Had one of those smells u remember for the rest of ur life. Bit like trying to lite a ciggarette, and catching nasal hairs ! u never forget smell ! Lol ! Well done kim. Enjoyed that.
