Ref not doing job, still restraint could've been shown and the situation handled with more care. You don't just toss children around and if you believe this is okay, please let me know if you have children and mind if I babysit sometime since I know how far I can go with disciplining them whilst you are away. I get what you are saying but anger, temper and all that was involved in what this man did and as with spanking, if done in anger, not cool.
@mediagod2004 There's no anger shown in the man's action. He was probably upset at the ref, but didn't appear to take it out on the kid. He didn't throw the kid any harder than he had to in order to get the action stopped quickly. My opinion is if the dad were trying to throw the kid out of anger, the kid would have flown much farther.
Aww an adult tossed a child, for good reason. An adult had to step up when another adult charged with a responsibility couldn't respond. My kid was hurting your kid, and you tossed him (Not hurting him). Cool; just explain and FFS, attend to your child if your going to commit to this action.
Throwing a wrestler 5 feet doesn't hurt the wrestler. The ref wasn't doing his job, and should have stopped the move about 3 or 4 seconds sooner than he did. He had the other kid's forearm way past horizontal on the back (have to look at the top-man's wrist). I've had a ref that let an illegal move continue a little too long end my season. With children that age especially, the ref should enforce the joint safety rules very quickly. The dad was totally justified, and didn't hurt anybody.
So let me see if I have your logic straight? Bringing a hammerlock past 45 degrees warrants launching a kid 5 feet? And you have decided that throwing a kid is *not* dangerous...but the hammerlock was?
Look at the ref, he was called potentially dangerous when the fooll ran on the mat. .
If you think the father was 'totally justified', I hope you are never at matside when I ref because I will fell totally justified in tossing you and getting you banned.
@mike5556 Hey Mike, I'm not here trying to troll, and I don't think you are either. In general, a wrestler being unexpectedly thrown 5 feet onto a wrestling mat is pretty safe, and I think it is a lot safer than letting a hold go to far. My background is that in high school I was injured twice by illegal holds that the ref was taking his sweet time in stopping (he was telling the opponent to stop, but not blowing the whistle). The ref's first job is to protect the wrestlers. Thoughts?
@mike5556 I think you're talking about a vertical throw (or something where the throwee's limbs are restrained such that he can't protect himself). This throw was not like that. It was horizontal and the kids limbs were unrestrained. The kid wasn't thrown to his neck. But I'll admit I'm not well versed on the current rules of safely returning the opponent to the mat.
Anyway, if you actually ref, please do keep your attention on this. Be cautious with kids joints. Be well.
@mike5556 Just to be clear, the reason I think it is safer to have a kid thrown than to have the joint taken beyond the safe angle is that when the kid is thrown, he is now in control of himself- he's just working with his own body and the mat. Nothing unexpected. But when there's a dangerous hold going on, it is impossible to predict how many tenths of seconds could pass before it gets taken further. So if the ref isn't willing to be quick, it is safest if someone else is quick.
From the looks of it the kid on top was purposely trying to torque on the kid's arm. It needed to be stopped, but I'm sure the parent wasn't thinking and reacted without thinking of how much force he was using
When you see something like this, you just want to ban all parents from kids' sports. Stop living through your gdamn children. Jesus, what an asshole dad.
He clearly forgot this wasn't WWE.

@ahgflyguy If throwing someone 5 feet was not dangerous, there would be no such thing as an illegal slam.
