I went on a school art trip to Paris in 1982 and there was one of these in the lobby accepting 20 centimes (about 2 US cents) for a game. I played it so much I ended dreaming I was bombing Paris.
Dam, you make it look so easy.Every time I played this in our local chippy many years ago,I managed to get to the city okay, but always got destroyed trying to navigate through the narrow maze.I think it was due to the bashed about joytsick that was used so much! :(
i remember flipping this game 11 times in a row..the only hard parts are sections of the maze, and the ending of the city..other than that, it's a piece of cake.
I had no idea that this game existed, in the 80s when I got an old PC I had a DOS game called "Striker" which seems to have been a complete clone / rip off of Scramble... thats very interesting, very nice to know!
WOW!! I have to say this was one of very few games that i was not very good at, my best mate growing up on the other hand was pretty damn good at it, .... this game for me was brutal almost to the point where I didnt like it , looking back though that was because I couldnt beat it ......... thanks for posting the vid
hey dwane, thanks for the memorys of the 80's .did not realise until now how close i came to finishing the game when i seen you do it.loved this game and another called bag man.just seen that on you tube.anybody remember a game called CHUBERT?? was an alien looking dude jumping all over a dimond shape to change colours.
I used up many coins in trying to complete this addictive game in my local chippie many years ago.Unfortunately, they took the arcade machines away when new owners took over it.
The hardest part of the game I found was trying to avoid those pesky small ufo's...agh!!
Well happy memories my friend and I used to go to the snack bar at the local sports center and play Scramble every Friday Night and drink pints of Orange while all the other guys were drinking at the pub. For us its over half a lifetime ago but we are still friends and I saw him again 2 years ago.
This game took many a quarter from my check each week and worse yet I worked at the same strip mall were the little mom & pop arcade was at piggly wiggly so cashed my check ate at gabriel subs and went next door to the arcade. Good times.
Man...you know how to play this game, respect! :-) Thank you for the nostalgia! In Germany we had scramble in 1983 - when I was about 14 or 15 - and I loved it. Pretty cool to see it one more time after all those years...THANX! cu, DOT
This game is my all-time sentimental favorite. Best buddies & I spent a whole lot of paper route money on this game circa 1983. Nice work and thanks for the nostalgia.

Well, I beat the base for the first time last night.
I did it in a way that doesn't crash you into the next building.
Move down and backwards as soon as you pass the Konami building, launch bombs when low, then up and away.
Impressive seeing two levels done on one life - the trick is learning the missile patterns in section 4 (and, of course how to blow up the base).

This game took so much practice & finesse on the controls to master, truly one of the best arcade games ever!

i was addicted to scramble back in the day and did finish it a few times
but the joy stick had to have the right tension in it (stiff) otherwise the tunnels at the end were impossible.

You can find this game on an old compilation game disc for the PSone console called Konami arcade classics.
But, this is very difficult to obtain.I'm still trying to find a copy.Very rare to find this I think!
