AH!!!" and "They aren't going to move. LAME! No wonder the music is good! If I hadn't had to worry about a giant pit of mud, I'd have pianissimo-ed and forte-ed a lot clearer!" Two positive and one annoyance.
holy crap, my high school marching band only has 81 people. that's including colorguard, front ensemble, and the kids from the middle school that hold our props. My friend's high school band only has about 25 people.
As a former marching band member (not in this band), the concert formation seen in the video, allows the attention to be focused on the flag bearers/dancers routine and not the band. They are approximately 50 flag bearers. As the video doesn't show the whole band, one can assume that it stretches from end zone to end zone. There appears to be 8 band members per 10 yards (80 per row, 7 rows). A total of maybe 560 in the band + the 50 flag bearers brings the total over 600. AWESOME!
@GameMaestro14 Lady Gaga is pop. Nothing wrong with that , but don't put it into some other category. It's like saying Selena Gomez is rock . It just isn't.
@RunawayFyre Pop is not a genre. Pop is a term short for "popular music". All popular bands were in that category some point. Aerosmith was pop. So was Led Zeppelin. Lady Gaga is closer to rock than anything.
@MissMaryAliceAngel It can be done. Unless you are literally shoulder to shoulder on the field, you can do SOMETHING, even if it's not necessarily choreographed. Just so long as they're not standing at attention like deer in headlights, ya know? Loosen up. Have fun with it.

i love this song, and i love hearing it played by marching bands. i do have to agree with rtdm93, though. the reason this band sounds so good is because the stand in one place. it takes more talent and skill to move and play than it does to just sit there and focus all of your energy into playing i understand that they can't really move all that much with that size of a band. and you NEVER want to deny a highschool/middle school student the chance to advance in music.
i am a music major and i plan on being a high school music director some day. if i had a band this large, i would split them up into two seperate bands composed of instrumentalists of equal talent on both sides. then i alternate which band marched every week. we'd do the same show, and when we practiced, we'd use the shadow technique to learn the show faster. fans would much rather see a moving band than a band that just sits there playing stands tunes. but that's just me. :)
@rtdm93 go search one of the shows, it'll show you marching with all these people, it'll possibly show you harder flag work, it'll show you cooler drum beats, and if this is the only video you've seen of this band, you have no idea how badass we are.
Holy Cow! I'm in the marching 110 and I thought my band was big, there are 237 of us. I feel like 237 is maybe half of this band maybe. If the spread out they could take up the whole field. That is so awesome!
My college band played this song but in a different arrangement. This was good playing for a high school though. From what I see they can't march around cause there isn't any room. When you have that problem then you need some shadows on the sideline sharing spots in the drill for people. I was a shadow my freshmen yr of high school. It wasn't a bad thing.

It's funny how huge the band is and only 1 person is qualified for TMEA All-Sate on their Band Program. That is clearly the result of Quantity over Quality, and i have never seen this band participate in the State Marching Competition level.

I play the Bari Sax, and I'm the only one in my entire school. There's only like one other in the whole school district, and he's in high school. I'm in 7th grade, and my band director expected me to hold a note on the Bari for about 15 beats, but I actually held it for 31. I was recently accepted to Quad State in Kentucky, and my other band director said that it was all because of the Bari. I am proud to be a Bari Sax player. SEMPER MELIOR!
this was... definitely not impressive at all. my school's band of 90-100 kids has way more bass punch. this sounds like a giant mid-voice section. and the dancers are pretty awful too. really simple routine, and not even in sync with each other.
how does a band with this much hornline do a show? Whether it marching band or DCI a good hornline should have at max 115 players. maybe less. a whole lot less if it is a Corps
And as for the volume, there are about 200 freshmen who were specifically told by our director not to play. And the reasons that the camera guy stated. One more thing, we can march perfectly well without running into any people. It's not that hard.
I'm curious as to how large the school is...

Holy Cow! I'm in the marching 110 and I thought my band was big, there are 237 of us. I feel like 237 is maybe half of this band maybe. If the spread out they could take up the whole field. That is so awesome!

My college band played this song but in a different arrangement. This was good playing for a high school though. From what I see they can't march around cause there isn't any room. When you have that problem then you need some shadows on the sideline sharing spots in the drill for people. I was a shadow my freshmen yr of high school. It wasn't a bad thing.

@redhead812 Okay, you obviously don't know the Allen Band. We march, we have shadows, we have fun. This is just the band standing still so the colorguard can have a chance to perform. We can march around, just like any other high school marching band, it's not that hard!

It's funny how huge the band is and only 1 person is qualified for TMEA All-Sate on their Band Program. That is clearly the result of Quantity over Quality, and i have never seen this band participate in the State Marching Competition level.
Anyways, I just wanted to troll there for a little bit. Love the participation. eh.

I play the Bari Sax, and I'm the only one in my entire school. There's only like one other in the whole school district, and he's in high school. I'm in 7th grade, and my band director expected me to hold a note on the Bari for about 15 beats, but I actually held it for 31. I was recently accepted to Quad State in Kentucky, and my other band director said that it was all because of the Bari. I am proud to be a Bari Sax player. SEMPER MELIOR!

this was... definitely not impressive at all. my school's band of 90-100 kids has way more bass punch. this sounds like a giant mid-voice section. and the dancers are pretty awful too. really simple routine, and not even in sync with each other.

how does a band with this much hornline do a show? Whether it marching band or DCI a good hornline should have at max 115 players. maybe less. a whole lot less if it is a Corps

And as for the volume, there are about 200 freshmen who were specifically told by our director not to play. And the reasons that the camera guy stated. One more thing, we can march perfectly well without running into any people. It's not that hard.
