Has anyone heard Al Hirt play this peace. He was the king of the trumpet. Wynton Maralis doesn;t play anywhere near like Al Hirt. Al Hirt was the the best.
@joecl246 Sorry Man Wynton Marsalis is a very good trumpet player. Were talking VERY good. You can't just say someone was better than him. At his level you can't really get any better. He already on the top.
Allen Vizzutti plays with cleaner technique, especially the 32nd note runs. I don't think anyone out there plays cleaner, but what a big sound Mills has.
I think he is playing on a much larger bore mouthpiece than Allen, I would venture to say it sounds like a 1C or 2B Bach.???
What a beautiful rich sound...! Reminds me of Doc Severinsen and the Great Al Hirt. (RIP).
The original is the best. Grande Ronald! Grandi musicisti....non a caso i loro cd non annoiano mai...poi come suonano Bach loro è impressionante sia per tecnica che per musicalità.
@Kittoras Of course, several times, and they are miles away from the old original Canadian Brass....and, in general, Mnozil Brass plays a different style of music, you cant compare...this is not the same music
Ronald Romm is absoluttely incredible. He makes so easy something so difficult. One of the best i´ve heard in my life.
Gran virtuoso y magnifico estilista, un trompeta de los que merece la pena oir, lástima que dejara el grupo en el año 2000. Un recuerdo para Frederick Mills muerto el siete de septiembre del año pasado en accidente de tráfico.
I always thought that a brass player with thick beard is amusing. You don't see his lips movement, so you think he has very strong and non-moving embourcher. I think the orginal Canadian Brass has some kinds of distinguishing features that no other brass quintet or emsemble has. They have very unique style in brass playing, and their joyful music is one of a kind.
because most musicians never look outside the box. THese guys are fucking amazing. every single one of them have talents that are undiscribable. I feel sorry for any musician that never gets the chance to hear or see these guys. Peter knabaucjh you are my hero....
The Canadian Brass has been around since 1970 and have published countless CDs. For more virtuoso trumpet playing check out "Tine Thing Helseth" she's a Norwegian musician and is very accomplished. When you find her you'll be led to Alison Balsom, a young British trumpet player, also very good. That Norwegian name is pronounced "Tin eh Ting Helseth."
I'm curious why these guys aren't more well known...I've been a trumpet player all my life and never come across a performance quite that stunning. That was perhaps superior to the alan vizuti version... I also do a little Euphonium and French horn, and these men blow me and all of my colleagues out of the water...
I had the chance to play with Ronald Romm about 7 years ago. I also took trumpet lessons from his colleague, the late Michael Ewald. Both fantastic players and flawless.
I just auditioned in front of Ronald Romm a couple weeks ago. He teaches trumpet at the U of Illinois-Champaign. I really hope I get in so I can get lessons from him it wuld just be so awesome.
3:04- I was waiting for the trumpet to turn upside down...
Still a great performance.

If you want to see and hear something Marsalis could not do, watch Maurice Andre play "Hora Staccato" I don't see how a human could do this.

Marty Hackleman (French Horn) is now first chair horn in the national symphony in Washington D.C. and it started with canadian brass
