You shouldn't trust the numbers. Asian governments often lie to cover things up and make it not look as bad. I'm chinese myself and even my dad knows that they cover stuff up.

I happen to trust them. How much more open can they be? They have already admitted to many cruel casualties i.e. the child and teen deaths. 10,000 is already a massive number, and they have said that they haven't uncovered all of the rubble yet to acertain the exact number.

They aren't giving a definitive number, only a recent status report. I'm sure there are more deaths to be recorded.
