  • LOL at Hitchens' Belfast Accent!

  • I love this joke.

  • Me too. It's so funny because it's so true. So many sectarian wankers from Belfast and the North in general actually have that mentality.

  • Another writer/thinker who opposed imperialism, fascism and Stalinism from an early period: John Dewey. After all, it was the Dewey Commission that was a uniquely systematic and brave condemnation of Stalin's Show trials amongst the left.

Dewey condemned fascism long before world war II, then after it faced criticisms (often by those who had sympathised with Hitler) that his naturalistic pragmatism led to fascism.

  • I have to disagree. I find his accent absolutely charming. Makes me wish he did the audiobook for The Atheist Handbook, like he did for God is Not Great.

  • Perhaps it's because I am from England, and the accent is nothing new - anyone with a public school education over forty, becomes a little gravely.

He sounds to much like any father of a friend I know.

  • great series -- thanks!!
