These old banjos have a great characteristic: they sound like 100dB with hardly any picking effort. Sounds a lot like Earl's banjo as far as power and tone.

Does it have a flathead tone ring or the round one? Amazing sound if it is the round tone ring. I wouldn't cut that rim at all for a flathead ring.

this is the banjo sound that I try to capture: grating lows, pure mids, and bursting, chewy highs. This banjo has all those things, and I enjoyed this vid tremendously! Please post more of this banjo soon!!

Can't beat the tone of an old RB 11. Sound straight out of the 40's or 50's with that fellow pickin it. Very nice.
