These old banjos have a great characteristic: they sound like 100dB with hardly any picking effort. Sounds a lot like Earl's banjo as far as power and tone.
this is the banjo sound that I try to capture: grating lows, pure mids, and bursting, chewy highs. This banjo has all those things, and I enjoyed this vid tremendously! Please post more of this banjo soon!!

Does it have a flathead tone ring or the round one? Amazing sound if it is the round tone ring. I wouldn't cut that rim at all for a flathead ring.

How long did it take you to learn to play the banjo? Did you start with a guitar first?

That's a really good sounding banjo. Those chimes at the end cut like a knife!

Yep, that sums it up. Us banjo pickers' lifetime dream to even get to pick one.

Can't beat the tone of an old RB 11. Sound straight out of the 40's or 50's with that fellow pickin it. Very nice.
