_When the enemy defenses are broken you are probably victorious anyway. What is the point of dragging heavy expensive units to battle already won?

_If you got enough guns to raze a city, why put them in single unit where they can be disabled all at once? With each weapon having its own chassis you'd get more mobile army you could split and join acording to threat and need. Its just useless concentration of firepower, that can be countered by saturating whole area with heavy fire.

@Mlokokvok well if you do use it on a battle thats won, if the enemies are going to retreat, you could keep em running, and by using the robot with the utlimate weapons systems, you could handle almost any threat silmutaniosly, and therefore the units used to stop it wont even get close to taking a monster down. now if you get into jets, just apply anti air weapons on its shoulders o.o for that mega weapon id have a whole team running it at the same time not just 1 guy.

@reapordeath Strategic nuke explode in high altitude, making it very difficult to counter. Thats why is everyone scared shitless of it. And tactical nukes are mostly fast unguided rockets or even classic artillery rounds, so they are difficult to defend from too. And taking down high flying jet fighter is nearly impossible to, with their speed, radar invisibility and advanced countermeasures. Only thing you can do is to have superior Airforce. But you spent your resources on big ass robots...

@Mlokokvok nukes are extremely difficult to counter, in fact the only way i could think of countering them is to take them out before they're released. because thats were information plays a key role. beacuase if your using nukes, im going to hold back, at least until i could figure out a way to counter it... well im sure if im so tecnologiclly advanced, i would have an anti-nuclear armor or at least a plane capable of taking nukes out. as for fighter jets... ordinate machine guns work nicely :P

@reapordeath Well, its heightened horizont makes it fodder for gunships. And rockets can be easily adjusted to penetrate the main cabin of that vehicle. They arent now, because they must be kept as light as possible and still destroy main battle tank in one hit. There were overpowered rockets though(Panzershreck, Davy Crockett). I'm not saying that bipedal tanks don't kick ass. I loved Earth2150 and Mechwarrior. But they are impractical and cannot be compared to modern military vehicles.

@reapordeath Well, gunship still have the mobility your ground units lack. They can fly low below horizon, fly up, strike and clear the field before somebody manages to lock on them. Or even shoot over the horizon missiles guided from ground. You know, all it needs is a guy with laser designator hidden somewhere in the bush, aiming at towering hulk two miles away.

@Mlokokvok well depending on the type of gunship depicts is defense and weapons, so say you have anti tank weapons or missles. the big robot can cover more ground than a gunship can, untill mountains get in the way, then the gunship cant get over them (thinking about everest) but a robot can. the missles probably arnt gonna pierce through a big robot like that anyway, so you'd run out of ammo before bringing those behemoths down.

And whats the robot effective against then? Infatry can defeat it by means of ambush, tank can defeat it by presenting smaller target with equal weaponry. Even static defenses are more easily devastated by artillery than something this unusually big. Whats the point of that unit then?

it would be effective if you use it at the right moment, not too early or it'd be like the hulk apearing. everybody would paint a laser on it screaming "shoot me!"

The naval armor protects vehicle of 90 000 tons and the missile can still take it down. Superheavy tanks have about 100 tons. How heavy the robot can be?

The only right moment i can think of would be direct fire support, using its height to suppres targets from above. But we got gunships and artillery for that.

i disagree on the timing... id probably bring it in as a flank team or as a type of reinforcements and to charge the enemy after most of ther defenses have been obliterated.

@reapordeath With buildings - when he is close enough to building to step on it and still functioning, The garrison of the building has already failed to do their job. And remember, war isnt C&C. The main benefit of buildings, is not them being forts.You can shoot soldier shooting from window with same ease as soldier taking good cover in terrain. The main reason to hide in a building is to hide. And to have clear first shot at the enemy. After that it's just a plain urban warfare.

Say there are thousand buildings you see, and you know that thirteen of them are garrisoned by enemy heavy AT team. While you and five of your big ass comrades do not see single enemy, you are seen from the whole city and are in clear shot of half of the teams.

You tech antirocket, i tech antiarmor. Tech can win war, but works both ways. Lets say we both posses comparably advanced armory..
